Quality fish'n'chips, have a gluten free fryer so the coeliac in the family didn't miss out. Super busy at peak times. Recommend ordering online for pick up.
Excellent and delicious Gluten Free menu (they can provide dairy free options as well). Very friendly staff. Environment is classic and relax. Would truly recommend.
The Big Breakfast was big, the long black was delicious, the staff were friendly with a smile and a quip whilst still professional. I can't understand the poor reviews. Our meal arrived in good time - it was obviously freshly cooked. I asked for GF, and nothing was too much trouble. They swopped out my sausage for halloumi, and they hid a tasty tomato under the bacon. Best bit - the potato rosti/hash brown. Beautifully seasoned. There was a whole shelf of gluten-free sweet treats, 7 options! If only I'd had room after breakfast.
Really friendly service...and i can get great quality gluten free fish and chips, they know the difference between fad and celiac. Always stop here when visiting.
Came in for a quick lunch. My partner ordered the fish and chips with mushy peas Gluten free and I had the pork tacos, beef brisket lollipops and the chips.
Atmosphere was nice and chill. Quiet for a Saturday lunch time but there was a lot going on outside.
Service was quick and easy. The server helped my partner who had a bee sting which was much appreciated.
Food came out fast and was temperature hot. The chips were the best thick cut pub chips I’ve had in a while. Good amount of salt and perfect amount of aioli. The fish was cooked well and wasn’t dry. The brisket lollipops had great seasoning and flavours were sweet and fragrant.
The corn tortillas on the tacos did fall apart more than I’d like but everything else for the taco was delicious. The salsa and mole were delicious with the pork.
Haven’t had a bad meal at The Kestrel to date. Thanks team
Overpriced for small portions served with a side of attitude for free; rushed to order and felt unwelcoming and like we’d done something wrong before even speaking. Also says gluten free can be accommodated on a sign outside but when asked, we were told no (no further context or explanation) and felt like we couldn’t ask anything else.
Walking around my first day after 36 hours of traveling, I walked by this place and seen the advertisement for Gluten Free fish and chips! Hit the spot and had no issues! Thank you so much!
Came on 18th November 2023 for a birthday celebration, excellent service from initial phone booking to everything on the night, food was fantastic highly recommend the platters but for me the Vegetarian Pizza was absolutely delicious we thoroughly enjoyed our night here and thought it was good value for money. Great selection for our gluten free members of the group too, Thanks Fainting Goat for a great night😊
I thought the mushroom risotto I had was super delicious! It's gluten free/celiac friendly :) It has small pieces of mushroom and it's not overly mushroomy so even if you're not a big fan of them (like me) it's overall very yum.
My family got the big breakfast, caeser salad, and chicken burger with fries and they were all happy with their meals.
I would suggest you add the allergens such as gf to your menu please. The risotto only had (v) next to it.
Every time we give stumpers another chance, they disappoint. Staff are rude, grumpy. Kitchen hours are weird. We ordered the gluten free ribs, celiac, they arrived with beer battered chips… which aren’t gluten free/celiac friendly. This place needs new owners! T
We had a great evening at the Mussel Inn last night. My hubby is a Coeliac, I'd emailed last week to ask if they could cater for him. This was the prompt email back....
"Yes, we can cater for coeliacs.
When you’re here and ordering, please ask for the gf menu and then reiterate your coeliac requirement.
We wash utensils, use different pans, etc so please emphasise coeliac rather than simply gluten free."
I can 100% say that hubby had a brilliant Spicy Goat Ragou. I had the ribeye steak & our daughter the nachos. We all enjoyed meals, drinks & the atmosphere was fantastic. This place is a legend for a reason!

Great spot, great views, great service and very well prepared and cooked seafood.
We got a great seat with a view of The Remarkables which made our night even more special.
Highly recommend, because we had them, the scallops, tuna loin, charred octopus with paua and mussels in green curry with rice as my partner is gluten free. Lots of options for GF.

Best meal I’ve had in years, the cooking was so refined and thoughtful. Mastery of texture. It’s not often you have a meal where literally every single dish blows you away. Also very accommodating of dietarys (gluten free) which really made my day. Excellent service, attentive but not fussy. 10’s across the board. 🙌🏼
As a celiac, I was so impressed! I had one of the best gluten-free breads I’ve ever tasted and it's homemade!! Also, gluten-free pizza was delicious too. Everything was so tasty and 100% worth it!
Great food - My only issue was the service, had a few servers and a few of them weren’t sure about the Gluten free options and questions seem to pass from server to server. In the end the manager(?) was serving us. I also couldn’t help to feel that we were judged based on our look and age cuz everything went friendlier when we paid lol. We had a few platter of oysters, starters and mains (only took a few photos). All delicious as anticipated but perhaps the service was a little less smooth so 4 stars
Service was exceptional Our Fijian waiter gave our entire group the best service ever!
Three serious coeliac family members were treated to the best food served anywhere in the world we have been. We celebrated a 16 year old and 18year old grandson’s birthdays and they were treated like royalty.
Thank you

Food was amazing! We had the mussels and scallops and they did not disappoint. Both were gluten free. The view was great and service was quick. Bit on the pricey side, but we found it worth it
