Barn Owl is a Lopez Island treasure. Everything they make is made with care and expertise and shepherded from the grain growing on Lopez Island fields to tasty goods baked in a wood-fired oven. Barn Owl sources local veggies and fruits and not only do they contribute to the local economy but they supported the community by staying safely open during the COVID lockdown. They have an impeccable commitment to great food, community and sustainability. I love their bagels, country bread, gluten free bread, apricot bread, rye bread and croissants but really, anything they turn out is top of the line, delicious and worth every penny!
This unique gem features all outdoor, mostly covered seating with very good heaters and a heated gazebo, ensuring a cozy atmosphere even on cold or rainy days. Its inviting vibe complements the availability of gluten-free noodle options, making it a welcoming spot for gluten-free diners.

This is one of those out of the way surprises. I’ve wanted to try their noodles for a couple of years and finally made it a point to ferry from Friday Harbor to Lopez on this trip. We had to get our order of Spicy Shio Ramen, one with chicken thigh and wheat noodles, one with pork belly and rice noodles (gluten-free option :) to go as we were limited on time and couldn’t afford to miss the 1 o’clock ferry. The noodles were perfect and even though both dishes had the pork belly, the pork belly was cooked to perfection. It was worth the trip! We will definitely return and next will stay there to eat. Keep up the good work!

We had a delicious dine in meal last night. I had a gluten free salmon dish with asparagus and a zucchini potato paddy. My dinner partner had roasted chicken and we split a house salad. The atmosphere was elegant but we felt comfortable in our cycling clothes. The waitstaff worked together as a team and our food and drinks were delivered promptly!

When you walk in it’s such a great vibe! They put local artists art on the wall once a month and it’s so cool to look at! They have fresh baked goods everyday and they even cater to gluten and nut free. The owners are just amazing! Very sweet and down to earth. And the drinks!!!! My favorite was the matcha with oat milk or matcha lemonade with mango purée 🤤🤤

We visited Isabel's 3 days in a row on our visit to the island. Each day we were welcomed with friendly service, delicious coffees, and gluten-free options which suited us. We had the gluten-free brownies 2 days in a row for breakfast which paired marvelously with the coffee. Not only are the employees friendly but the local customers make it a hub for great conversation and atmosphere. If you sit on the porch on a cold fall day you'll find cushions and blankets to keep you warm which was a nice touch.
