Cute lunch time bistro! Varied menu, AND they have Gluten Free Bread!! Shared the Reuben with a side of delicious Potato Salad (so we could have coffee and dessert down the street!) Corned Beef was the leanest I've ever had! Service was fast and friendly. Discount for paying cash. Highly recommend this place!
Great little place we stopped at for lunch on a rainy day. I had the scoop salad and tomato soup. The soup was creamy but a little on the sweet side. Still good, but I prefer a savory soup over sweet.
The chicken salad and (house made) pimento cheese were delicious. The chicken salad has grapes in it, which I LOVE. I know some of you don't.
A special touch that I liked was that they have loose leaf tea. They pack it full and put it in a VERY large cup. I love that it added more flavor and I didn't have to ask for a refill.
We finished our meal off with a HUGE slice of gluten free chocolate cake. It was rich and delicious! You will like this even if you don't do gluten free! We all loved it.
Our server was super nice and helpful.
We parked in the free public parking lot
Dogs allowed on enclosed porch and outside.
Raegan was absolutely fantastic! We are here in Fort Mountain for a Women’s Retreat and drove to Ellijay for some lunch. Initially, going to a different restaurant but said it was over an hour of wait. We walked into The Shack with 10 woman and Raegan was so knowledgeable on each menu item and gave us reccomendations and substituted for those who were gluten free. She was working the counter ALONE! And served us so quickly.
Thank you for wonderful service! 🤍
We stopped by Ellijay Coffehouse after a hike and the coffee was amazing. We ordered the hot drip coffee and Honey Bear latte. Both were amazing. They also offer Gluten Free cookies so we got the Mocha Java and Peanut butter. Amazing!!
All of the bread from this shop is wonderfu, especially the ciabatta and mountain rye -- except the gluten free loaf. For $10 you get a small hard lump of dense "bread" that has no flavor, weird color, and a gritty texture. Totally not up to the standards of the regular bread, and they really should remove it from their offerings.
My main course was the best Mexican food I've had in a long long time. We eat a lot of since my Husband is Gluten free. The Enchiladas & Burritos were SO good. The salsa could use a little cilantro & I personally like it a little hotter but that is my personal taste. The Margaritas were decent & the price was good. The decor was very nicely done. We got our food amazingly fast but it was pretty late on a Thurs night. Lastly our waitress was attentive, & super friendly. We all had a great meal & would recommend!
Wide array of drink options! Pastry options were also plentiful. Even had a gluten free muffin. Coffee beans were from a local roaster and sold in store. Owner was so lovely and could answer our questions. Great hometown feel.
Very good sorbet and super friendly owners. I think it's great that they have delicious gluten free and dairy free options. I would definitely recommend this place, and I would come here again!
We love the Cajun Depot. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable and the food is top notch. I had a bowl of the seafood gumbo and thought i was back in Louisiana. My wife had a blackened chicken sandwich on a gluten free bun that was to die for! This is our go to place when we come to town.
Nice little local place with really friendly sercive and even had gluten free toast. Food is fantastic. They also have a black bean burger on the menu so its nice having some healthy options but either way the biscuits an gravy rocked.
Local pizza spot specific to Ellijay with very unique, authentic wood fire oven pizzas. We tried several options among the red and white pizzas both with my personal favorite (not pictured) the shiitake truffle pizza. For the flavor, I think the prices are justified. They had excellent salad option with plenty of protein as well and fondue that was very smooth, complementary to the bread with limited tastes of alcohol (traditionally used to prepare it). Other than the salads, limited gluten free options but they did accommodate to provide cucumbers to use with the fondue.
Interior is very nicely decorated and on theme with the restaurant. Only docs on the service and atmosphere were the limited seating/space that made things at times feel crowded and possibly stressed out the hostess.
My husband always enjoys their food. And for me the gluten free bread actually worked really well with the veggies. The guy with the nose ring was very kind about my dietary restrictions and friendly to us.
