They had something for everyone and that was a miracle! We had gluten-free, dairy-free & tree-nutt free. I was amazed! And you honestly couldn't even tell the d
Excellent. I would give it 6 stars if I could. Honestly, the best meal I've eaten at a restaurant in years. Everything was flavorful and fresh. Their menu doesn't have clearly labeled gluten-free options, however, our server was very knowledgeable and told me what to steer clear of and what could be made gluten-free without issue.
My husband and I shared the Zuccini & Scallion Crepes appetizer and they were DELICIOUS. Seriously, we both said we could make a meal of those alone.
My husband ordered the Thai Peanut Noodles; excellent. The cilantro really made the flavor of the sauce stand out.
I had the Wasabi-Peppercorn Tenderloin. It was massively better than any steak I've had from a steak house in years.
For dessert we split the Chocolate-Passionfruit Mousse. It was light and the perfect balance of fresh & fruity and chocolate. Truly divine.
Hands down this place is worth treating yourself.
They took more than an hour to bring me the burger I ordered. All my friends were done with their meals when mine arrived, clearly overcooked.
I asked for a basic mayonnaise and was told they didn't have.
They don't offer any gluten free option for beers, which is rare in 2024.
Went in early pandemic, Kosmo and his sous chef treated us well and they were very friendly. Food delicious, and what you want out of a bowl, add whatever sounds good.
Good for gluten free and vegetarian too!
Some of the best lattes and cappuccinos around. Seasonal gluten free pumpkin pie bars are mildly sweet and perfectly moist, unlike most American desserts. Staff is super friendly and helpful.
After a candle lit stringed quartet performance of Adele and dinner at The Earl what more could could the evening hold? Thanks to "The Earl" for your significant part in a homerun evening.
The Earl stepped up from the moment I booked the reservation. I had flowers delivered that afternoon that were beautifully displayed on the table awaiting our arrival. We loved it from the moment we walked through the front entrance, and directed to a flight of stairs going down. It was kind of a "Speak Easy" feel. We met our hostess at the bottom of the stairs, who led us into an open, multi level dining area, with a moderate level of chatter of guest enjoying their evening. The three piece Jazz band performing at an audible, not over-bearing level. Very Classy. Our waiter was top notch, and escalated our experience to the next level. Attentive, but not intrusive. On to the menu and our selections... My date prefers a Gluten Free (GF) diet which is why I chose "The Earl" in the first place, with nearly 50% of their menu items available as GF friendly.
Extensive wine list: Sorry we skipped the wine
Stuffed Mushroom Caps: Absolutely melt in your mouth delicious. Plenty for 2 as an appetizer.
Bread: Fresh baked GF French bread for the lady. Perfect!
Salad: Beet and Goat Cheese. When asked the waiter stated that it would be large enough for two. It was delivered to the table on 2 separate salad plates. Attention to excellence.
Scallops: (GF) Melt in your mouth scallops and mushrooms with a smoothly blended sauce but revealing of each distinct ingredient.
Linguine w/ Shrimp: Pasta was cooked to perfection with a sauce that was bold but not overpowering. The anchovies added a savory flavor enhancing the other ingredients creating a dish to die for.
We passed on the deserts this time, but will return in the near future as this has the possibilities of being our restaurant of choice for future events.
Next time Lori, we start with the wine list and roasted garlic. Promise!
đ

+ baby carrots
+ crispy octopus
+ seared cabbage
+ okonomiyaki cabbage
+ sweet potato dessert
đ
- sparkling wine by the glass selection (need an affordable dry white bubbly, maybe cava or cremant)
- fried chicken leg (undercooked/pink, bland)
- flatbread (underbaked/gummy in center)
- land caviar (bland, lukewarm)
- lobster bucatini (overpriced for portion)
- espresso (spoon and sugar should come automatically)
Service comments:
- menu does not notate which items are vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, etc.
- meal pacing was great
- complimentary coat check was a delight
- dishes and utensils replaced at random times and once left us waiting to eat a hot dish that arrived. Also 4 place settings isnât needed to split 1 dessert
- way too many glasses and carafes slowed down drink service. wine glasses were replaced after tasting a wine and ordering a full glass of the same wine.
- after-dinner drink options (other than coffee) should be listed on dessert menu
- purse hanger for to-go bag is a nice touch
Went to Cafe Zola with friends for dinner, and it was a great experience overall. We had a reservation and were seated promptly at our reserved time, which was a nice start to the evening. The menu is limited, but what they offer is well-executed.
The absolute standout dish was the Sambar Grilled Chicken Skewersâthe sauce was the real star, adding a bold kick that made the dish unforgettable. The flavors still linger, making it a must-try! Though listed as a starter, the portion was generous enough to be a main course. The sauce and chicken complemented each other perfectly, making it a standout dish.
We also tried:
âą Shrimp Tacos â Fresh and flavorful
âą Brussels Sprouts â Nicely done
âą Bread Board â A good starter to share
âą Tofu with Ginger Tahini Sauce â Light yet packed with flavor
âą Cavalo Nero (Kale pesto & spring pea shoots) â A unique and tasty combination
âą Tajarin ai Limone with Chicken (customized with added chicken) â So good! The chicken was cooked to perfection.
âą Faroe Island Salmon Fillet â Well-prepared and delicious
The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring we had a great experience. They also offer outdoor seating for summer, which is something Iâd love to try next time. They offer vegetarian and gluten-free options, and the staff is accommodating if you need modifications. Itâs best to check with them for specific dietary needs
For parking, we got lucky since it wasnât too busy, but during peak hours, finding a spot can be tricky as itâs located downtown. However, a private paid parking lot is just a few steps away, making it convenient.
The restaurant falls on the expensive side, and the portions are small, but the flavors make up for it. Next time, Iâm definitely trying their crepes and truffle fries! Overall, Great Food, Cozy Ambiance, and Friendly Service. A great spot for a nice meal with friendsâjust donât expect a huge menu!
âïžâïžâïžâïž = GF Options!
I was invited to try this place out as a Gift. First of course, the waitstaff were Great. The Atmosphere interior was cozy, and upbeat like what you'd expect from Ann Arbor Spots. The only critic here would be that the side main window view opens up directly to a Gas Station... they could consider completly Blacking those windows out and adding some exterior and interior designs to create a better experience visually. Now the food... "Coffee and the Cups were Great! I also gave a âïžâïžâïžâïž rating "because you can get the pancakes or the sandwiches made with a gluten-free bread option!" Any restaurant still not offering gluten-free just doesn't care too much about their patrons. The food is definitely A Cut above the typical Coney Island breakfast. You can taste the freshness and lack of over used low quality cooking oil you find in Coney's. Ideas; To take the experience to the next level, they could ask if you want your pancakes, plain or pre-buttered?? If the patron choses pre-buttered, there should be a decent coat of hot salted butter on each pancake. Also offer A Sweeter Maple Syrup. Great place to visit, and I would like to come back to try the lunch menu out "as the sandwich menu does look veeeery tempting"!
We had a fabulous experience. The restaurant is lovely and thoughtfully designed. The bowls are beautiful and taste incredible. The owners are from Brazil, and they have brought Brazilian flavors and fruits to their smoothies and bowls. Gluten free, Celiac friendly.
