Second night in Charleston celebrating our tenth anniversary. Hanks definitely met the high expectations we had of good seafood in Charleston! I ordered the flounder and the flavor was out of this world! My husband ordered the oysters casino as an appetizer which were a “ decadent delight” as he described them. For his entree he ordered the grouper which was a tender but meaty and delicious entree! Our server, Drew, was very attentive and pleasant.
There was a separate gluten free menu with many options. Both of our main entrees were GF.
The mushroom omelette was fantastic! The eggs were fluffy and the mushrooms were seasoned really well. They allowed me to adjust the sides to accommodate my nightshade and gluten allergies to get salad and fruit instead. Coffee was good too!
This is a really cool location worth checking out because of the church location and the art inside. And it looked like they can accommodate large groups too.
The perfect spot for a more casual but still delicious dinner in downtown. Lots of well marked gluten free options, and some creative/fun options for folks who might not want seafood. Our server was attentive, friendly, and quick. We were seated immediately on a Monday evening despite the no-reservation policy. Would definitely return!
We had the loco oysters, crispy fish sandwich and the deviled crab cake sandwich. They did not have gluten-free bread but they did accommodate by making a salad out of my crab cake sandwich. Everything was very good, loved it!
A delicious dinner! Sean C. Was such a good server. He was very thoughtful regarding a gluten allergy at our table and went above and beyond to accommodate us. Will definitely come back!
Everything was incredible!!! Our server Daniel explained everything in detail, our food came out quickly, and when one of the dishes wasn’t perfect, the owner Eli made sure it was 100%!!! We loved our time here and we WILL be back!! And bonus; there’s wonderful GLUTEN FREE options!
We were in town for our 10th Wedding Anniversary and this was the place I was most excited to visit. Our waiter , James, was amazing. I appreciated the attention to my husband's gluten allergy throughout the meal. The meal was paced perfectly and the food was very good. I also highly recommend the coconut cake! The only negative that we don't have one of these back home!

We found this place based on Google reviews, and we are so glad we did! It's a terrific dessert café. I'm gluten-free, and it was such a joy to find somewhere with delicious after-dinner options. My non gf husband had the bourbon pecan pie and said it's fabulous.
We heard about FIG after arriving in Charleston and we’re blessed enough to be able to get reservations late. Although we were seated at 10 PM, our server, Drew was just as attentive and patient as if it were the beginning of the evening. One of our friends has a very restrictive diet – no gluten, no dairy.Drew went through the entire menu and was able to accommodate 3/4 of the menu along with the chef’s recommendations to suit our friend. We cook and have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the country and found FIG to be TOP TIER ! The ricotta gnocchi with lamb bolognese was absolutely outstanding. The Brioche crusted flounder was probably the best piece of fish I’ve ever put in my mouth. The textures, flavors and seasonings were spot on. We also enjoyed Escabeche, salads, Bouillabaisse, and I believe every dessert offered ! Don’t go to Charleston without visiting this restaurant!
My hubby and I recently returned to Charleston SC for a vacation. Charleston has sooo many wonderful restaurants and Anson’s is at the top of that list. We had reservations but were pleasantly surprised when we received a call from the Manager confirming our reservation and our seating request. Impressive. Upon our arrival at the restaurant, we were greeted by several employees. Our table was in a beautifully decorated room wherein the tables were dressed well but spaced apart to ensure our safety and privacy. Very nice. I’m gluten sensitive so I have to be careful. Their menu was marked clearly. I ordered the she crab soup and the shrimp and grits. Hubby ordered the beet salad and the grouper Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared. Eventhough the she crab soup was not marked gluten free I ordered it and was fine. They either use small amounts of flour or cornstarch to thicken; whichever the case, I experienced no discomfort and would order it again. The grits are the best I’ve ever tasted. I could eat them everyday. My hubby was equally impressed with the grouper and beet salad. Unfortunately we had no room for dessert. Our server, Peter, was wonderful! Very attentive without that annoying hovering. A+++
Not sure what was wrong with the staff here, but they all seemed to hate each other. Our drinks took 30 minutes. I told them to cancel our second round and bartender got mad at the server. The table next to us did the same. One of the girls in our party was gluten free and they refused to accommodate until I begged.
