The pita bread for appetizers was light and soft. Hummus trio was perfect, especially the spicy hummus. Kibbeh was very filling so maybe don't order it if you plan to order a full entree as well.
I especially enjoyed my mouzat (slow cooked lamb leg with spiced rice). It was a lovely meal.
Great service, the place is huge so there were many available seats, good food.
They have lots of vegetarian and gluten free options.
Highly recommended.
A solid place for a grab and go lunch with plenty of tasty gluten free ingredients! Especially for healthy eating. Love the variety and flexibility of these places, and the freshness of their food is undeniable. Only regret is not getting the dressing on the side, since they still gave me a lot even though I said light dressing.
HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. We stopped during a middle school trip with World Strides at the end of our 3rd day (group of 50+ people). This was our best meal of the trip! We were exhausted and hungry. We walked in to pizza on the table ready for us and they brought out hot food trays as well- meat balls, Mac & cheese, huge salads, meat balls and pasta salad. Soda, lemonade and plenty of cold WATER to drink! Food was great and staff friendly. 2 in the party are celiac— they made them a pizza after arrival in a dedicated gluten free oven. They scarfed it down! Staff was also super friendly. Plenty of seating. We all dragged in but left happy and full. The outside area at the shops was fun for the teens to play and be kids again in the wobbly chairs. Check this place out for dinner and large groups as well! We were well accommodated.
Nando’s PERi-PERi is all about African chilli inspired flame-grilled chicken. The key to their flavorful chicken is based on their signature PERi-PERi sauce that is used to marinate all of their chicken for 24 hours. The African chilli they use draws its roots from Mozambique, and continues to inspire their menu. If you’ve never been before, you will select your food from the menu and decide how spicy you want it – from plainish to extra hot. I’d suggest getting it towards the plainish side, so you can customize your flavoring using one or many of the sauces they provide. There are an assortment of appetizers you can try, but I’d focus on the mains and specifically the PERi-PERi chicken. The classic choice is the PERi-PERi Half Chicken with a side or two. If you’re hungry, I’d start there. For sides, you should try the Macho Peas, PERi Chips with PERinaise, and Red Skin Mashed Potatoes. They offer a variety of sandwiches, salads, and vegetarian-friendly options. You can even find gluten free, nut free, and lactose free items. If you go with a group of hungry people who like similar spiciness or pungency, then consider stepping up to a full or jumbo platter that is slightly better in terms of value and portion size. After placing your order, grab some silverware, any sauces and dressings you’d like to try, and find a table to put your order marker on. They’ll deliver your food to your table. If you find a particular sauce to your liking, note that you can purchase bottles of their sauces. I like the flavorful Lemon and Herb sauce, and Garlic sauce. Some locations even offer catering. All-in-all, it can be a little on the expensive side, but it’s definitely worth trying. You may even find a sauce that you can’t live without.
Update: April 2024
Ordered burgers on Saturday noon. Burgers were dry with very little sauce on it. Bun was not toasted. We were disappointed. It seems they cannot maintain the quality in busy noon time.
Update: April 2024
We went here again on Saturday. Customization order was followed. Burgers were delicious. I changed the review to 5 stars.
Original:
We received the wrong order today, but the staff member was kind and quickly remade a burger for us. I had ordered a burger with a gluten-free bun, plus added tomato and pickles. Later, we noticed the tomato and pickles were missing. Since the gluten-free bun looks very similar to the regular bun, we began to suspect that we might’ve received the wrong bun as well. It seems likely that the customizations were completely overlooked.
If you have dietary restrictions like gluten intolerance, I recommend adding multiple customizations. That way, it’s easier to tell whether the kitchen followed your request and helps verify the order more clearly.
My girlfriend and I were visiting DC for a wedding and we tried this place twice now and both times we were extremely blown away by just how awesome this place is. The staff is super friendly, the coffee and food is really good and what’s even better is they had gluten free options for my girlfriend. I had their breakfast sandwich and their honey dipped glazed doughnut which was SO GOOD. I’m really jealous we don’t have places like this in Florida where we live. I highly recommend this place if you want good coffee or pastries!
I attended the Cherry Blossom Tea this weekend with five friends, and it was pretty nice! Two people in our party had strict dietary restrictions (gluten free and dairy free), and they were perfectly accommodated. I do agree with what a few others have said about the service taking a while (our seating was at 2:30 and we didn’t finish until 4:30, making us a little late for a 4:45 event we were all going to). The tea was lovely though and the desserts + tea sandwiches were surprisingly filling! Not to mention the complementary mimosas were an added bonus. The price was a little high at $110 per person, but I guess it is the Ritz. We had purposefully picked this tea experience because it was supposed to be a little bit less compared to some other cherry blossom teas in the DMV, but it ended up being about the same. The restaurant was also a little bit loud, but overall it was a pretty good experience I’d recommend, especially if you have friends with dietary restrictions.
A delicious sushi meal with gluten-free accommodations, including GF tamari. The sushi chef and server were able to steer me to naturally gluten-free rolls. They had GF tamari, too. I'm adding Kusshi to my list of go-to sushi restaurants.
Great salmon toro, which is my favorite nigiri.
The maki I ordered were beautiful and delicious.
Outstanding bar. Great rotating drafts, stools that you can sit on, and the ambiance of a grocery store surrounding you. If you choose to shop, it is highly recommended that you spend 3-4 hours at this bar first so that you can ignore all of the paleo/gluten free/crossfit vibes that resonate. Fairly magical when paired with the top notch buffet adjacent to the bar. Anyone interested in grocery shopping loosely should investigate the possibilities of this bar. I may be wrong, but it is possible to order drinks and imbibe while you shop. Beware: you can’t leave the bar without passing the mochi case.
I stopped here for an impromptu lunch after some shopping. I’m always wary eating out because I have celiac disease and many restaurants are not conscientious of my allergy. I decided to order the green goddess salad (without the gluten containing ingredients) and they were able to accommodate me. They even double checked to see if the dressing had any gluten containing ingredients. The salad was great, and the service was very friendly! Highly recommended for those with and without dietary restrictions.
