There is no place like Claire’s! I’ve been coming here since 1983 when i was an overwhelmed freshman at Yale. Claire always offered kindness and compassion, along with Lithuanian coffee cake, granola, egg sandwiches … as a scholarship kid, I couldn’t afford much so going to Claire’s was always a special treat. 40+ years later, I still gravitate there every chance I get to treat myself to all the goodies I couldn’t afford way back when. She still manages to surprise! Today I discover she now makes vegan gluten free Lithuanian coffee cupcakes and sun butter cookies - perfect for a fairy god kid who is allergic to everything. But mostly I go in just hoping to catch a glimpse of Claire and and sometimes work up the courage to say hello. Thank you Claire for all the blessings you have bestowed on so many of us!

The have a gluten free Injera option. I think it is called “black” when served gluten-free. Based on the servers explanation, this seems to be the preferred method as it tears easier. I have never had Ethiopian food. I was really really impressed with the flavors. This restaurant has set the bar high. I would definitely come again if I am in the area!

I’m a little obsessed with Mecha. I’m gluten-free so I’ve only had the Pho with beef options. So fresh and delicious and warming. Quick and friendly service, perfect for solo lunching
