Hilo Pizza Company

We stopped here after being at the National Park all day. We ordered a gluten free pizza and two regular pizzas. It was all DELICIOUS! We loved everything. The food, the service, the speed at which the food was brought to the table, everything! Highly recommend!

My wife, daughter, son-in-law, and I rolled into the Hilo Pizza Company about an hour before closing time on a Wednesday night after some local exploring.. The kiddos sampled the Italian Special on a 12" gluten-free crust, and the wife and I each had 6" calzones stuffed with mozzarella, pepperoni, and prosciutto.. There were a couple of locals there when we arrived, so we knew we had chosen well.. The owner was working the counter (gathered from listening to some conversation), which is another good sign.. The kids were delighted with their pie and remarked that the GF crust was very tasty compared to many other GF pizza crusts they've experienced previously.. The pizza itself presented very well, and the toppings were spread evenly across the surface.. Our calzones were amply stuffed with the aforementioned cheese and meats, and both were quite tasty!! I apologize for the lack of photos for those.. The only thing I might recommend is for the owner to offer a 12" standard crust.. The wife and I were craving pizza versus calzones, and having a smaller, standard dough/crust option would have been our preference.. Otherwise, we were delighted with our experience.. Anywho, if you are a local to Hawai'i or visitors like us, the Hilo Pizza Company is a great choice!!

There are very few places that have gluten free pizza, so we went here instead of Antics where we usually go. Decided to get the reuben pizza and while all the flavors were sort of there, there was a barren landscape of toppings. While there was meat on the pizza, it was a shockingly minuscule amount. If you want the reuben, you need to order at least double meat if not triple, it was that sparse. Our kids also lamented on the lack of generosity with the toppings. The Reuben, while it had good taste, did not satisfy, so when I got home I cooked up a steak. I shouldn't have to do that for a $28 pizza. We will return to Antics where they are much more generous with their toppings, and we simply find the pizza there more enjoyable. It was nice to sit outside since there is very limited seating here, but you have to deal with the constant traffic driving by, so there's that. Still, we found it better to sit outside since the music was a bit louder than we would have liked. Service was good.
