Matteo Ristorante Italiano

While probably not as good as the hype around it suggests, Matteo is a good Italian restaurant for SLC and in a great location. A few comments on the food and service: 1- the service (while a bit slow…was excellent). 2- the pastas, lasagna, risotto, and even the pollo dish are all good, but not great. Sicilia Mia is likely better. 3- The Cesar salad is great…and huge. Definitely a shared salad. 4- Excellent gluten free pasta noodle. I need to figure out where they are getting it. They use a noodle that is quinoa and brown rice and it was both delicious and perfectly cooked. 5- The panna cotta and the lemoncello bread pudding aren’t good and I would suggest skipping entirely. The best panna cotta (by a wide margin) along the Wasatch Front is at Maestra in American Fork. 6-The whipped Brie is excellent and worth getting to share as an appetizer. Delicious meal in Salt Lake. Gluten free accommodations for our gf guests that were excellent. Nice wine offerings at a fair price. Bruno, our server, was superb. Warm, knowledgeable and professional. A highlight of our time in Utah. Would come back in a heartbeat.

This place is a gluten free paradise. They have a ton of the most delicious gluten free bread, pasta, and salads. My gluten loving husband raved about his dish as well. Do yourself a favor and eat there now!
