Was going on a vegan hunt for a handful of months back in 2021 and came across Peace Pies in OB.
I was in the area on a Sunday and decided to go and have lunch here.
It was a bit difficult to find as it is not near the beach and is bit farther in this neighborhood. The sign gives it away that you found the spot which is very unique and looks handmade. Honestly, I love the feeling of finding a place after a long hunt especially when you rely on Google Maps.
There is an outdoor seating area that is very natural in appearance with plenty of live plants. It makes you feel like you are dining in a tropical forest. This is the case inside. I've never been to South America, but I feel like this is what it would be like if you were dining in the Amazon. It is very open-air and refreshing.
Food-wise. I bought a Peaceful Pizza and a Tropical Smoothie to cool myself down after a long walk.
Everything here is considered raw vegan meaning that it is not cooked. I'm 2021, I was still a meat-eater with an interest in going full vegetarian. Now, I am full vegetarian.
The Peaceful Pizza reminded me of a Ezekiel-style bread with its earthen flavors along with the crispiness of the kale that was well-seasoned. It was unlike any pizza that I had tried before even different than the usual gluten-free type of pizza that I had ate before.
The Tropical Smoothie was a great addition with the meal because it was thick, smooth and very filling. It was also nice and sweet.
I got into a conversation with another diner, and we spoke about veganism and where to find other resurants in San Diego County. She was very open and chill.
Personally, I would go back to Peace Pies and try something else on the menu. I highly recommend this spot for vegans and non-vegans to try it out.
