Excellent service. Good atmosphere. I had the mushroom burger. It had has layers of umami-goodness from the sauteed mushrooms (which had a nice hint of thyme), to the saucey blue cheese crumbles, and the solid beef patty. The beer battered fries were great - best without ketchup. Need a gluten-free bun? They got you. Usually, I would ask for a lettuce wrap. But today I felt inclined to have a burger that felt more traditional. The bun was soft and fresh. Can't wait to go back!

Make this your first stop when arriving in Phoenix. It's a hop, skip, and jump from Sky Hatbor and the Rental Car Center. We always sit at the bar where we can watch all the action. Michael and the staff are knowledgeable about what brews go well with their menu items. Added bonus for us is Michael remembering we're from out of town. He always welcomes us back anf catches us up on all the amazing brews State 48 has been making and which brews on tap are the best sellers. We recently tried the PB&J Burger and the Beercheese Burger with fries and tots respectively. They were perfectly paired with their German Pils (best in the country that I've had-and I've tried a lot!) and the Javelina Hefeweizen. State 48 is the first place in the valley that actually cooks your burgers to order. A lot of places ask but you always get medium or well done. The seasoning on these perfectly balanced burgers is spot on. The peach jalapeño jam made the PB&J better by balancing the spice and keeping it from leaning to the more sweet side. The balsamic glaze adds a hint of tart to balance the fattiness from the beer cheese. Their fries are so good. Handcut and so crispy. They are even good cold. The menu has options for everyone in your dining party with vegetarian and gluten free options. Definitely will remain a 1st stop in our book.
