My croissant loving son was diagnosed with celiac disease in September. I almost cried today watching his happiness as he ate a chocolate croissant at Mariposa’s. 💚

I was looking for a bakery with gluten free options and this bakery nailed it! The line moved quickly and parking is convenient. I ordered one of every gluten free option. They were so good that I went back the same day to buy more for the road trip down to SoCal. I’ll be back!

This may be the best food I've eaten in an airport restaurant. Had the chicken adobo with garlic fried rice and a mochi. They also gave me soup. All options were clearly labeled as vegetarian or gluten free as appropriate-- since I'm GF this meant I clearly could see my (many) GF options. Great meal!
A must-visit for cupcake lovers, this spot features unique creations like a Sweet S'mores cupcake that feels like a gourmet treat.

Kara's Cupcakes is my absolute favorite cupcake place. So much so that whenever visitors have come to town, I would usually make it a point to take them here as my own sweet treat.
While you can't really go wrong with any selections from their menu, their Gluten-Free Chocolate Velvet cupcake (with chocolate sprinkles on top) is divine. It's been my favorite since before I really knew much of what gluten-free was all about. Their Sweet S'mores cupcake is also quite a special treat with its graham cracker crust on the bottom, and its marshmallow-y goodness is reminiscent of a much fancier & delectable version of a Hostess Ding Dong.

A must visit for pastries in San Francisco.
Spectacular baked goods, quite a variety of flavors, style of baked goods and breads.
A friend and I stumbled upon Neighbor 7/8 yrs ago and immediately fell in love with their dense, flakey ginger pull apart and all the croissants.
Over the years the options have increased, new flavors have been introduced but the quality of ingredients and deliciousness have continued!!
After starting to eat gluten free, I have been pleasantly surprised with the gf baked goods. Although I would absolutely love to see a GF croissant on the menu in the future.
I always recommend Neighbor Bakehouse to friends and family as a must try in SF and am thrilled I’m now walking distance.
Health-conscious vibes shine here with a no-frills, well-curated experience, plus a cool art spot just across the street to explore.

Ok little cafe serving up a broad array of varied foods, most of which are of the typical fatty, greasy, saucy and filling type.
FOOD: Great for a filling feed. Among other things, we ordered a salad which appeared to be made up of pre-made not fresh ingredients slathered in dressing. I would call their food a far cry from healthy - however I appreciate that this may be by design/fast food - it's just my heads up to those used to super nutritious fresh salads. I was super impressed to get toasted gluten free banana bread though and would recommend this to others. They also have a range of vegan and vegetarian dishes.
STAFF: Really lovely and considerate. They appeared to be super down to earth and friendly to the locals too - which was really lovely to observe.
INTERIOR: Clean well kept relatively large cafe space with a kitchen that looks like it cooks for thousands so I have no idea why the quality of our food was so low.
ACCESSIBILITY: Wheelchair accessible with toilets on site.
PRICES: Reasonable to a little pricy given the low quality of food.
In a great vibrant area - surrounded by the colour and life of the tenderloin - ample street parking and a minute from bus stops.
OVERALL: ok, if you're walking by - stopped in for a cuppa a few times, wouldn't go out of my way to dine at.

Carolina Quesada
Place that sells sweet things, especially macarons of different tastes, as you can see in the photos. They are gluten free, and after 4pm they reduce them to 50%! It's worth trying!

Cool spot on Saturday morning, I come before I play soccer in the park up the block at 2pm. I get the warm quinoa bowl with fresh fruit ! Bomb I can’t eat gluten so it’s slim pickings for me. There only two small outdoor tables so gotta get there early if you want to sit outside, the tables are community style and kinda tight small space
Delight in the unique charm of beautifully crafted cakes featuring real succulents and seasonal ingredients that wow every guest.

Wow! This cake was a HIT. “Best cake I’ve ever had” is one of the many compliments we got.. and I also personally said while celebrating! We went with the gluten free almond cake, lemon curd filling, seasonal berries and chocolate ganache.
We also got the challah and that was delicious too. Will definitely be back and I recommend!
Outdoor seating creates a vibrant atmosphere with plenty of foot traffic and a satisfying, fulfilling meal experience.

I ordered the Scallion Pancake. It was so fulfilling and delicious. I went on a beautiful day and sat outside at the parklet table. I love seeing kids, dogs, people walk-by. This meal is not a lot for a big eater but much enough for me, very satisfying.
Scallion Pancake ingredients were :
scallion pancake, braised beef shank, peanut, fennel, shinko pear, cilantro contains: gluten, nuts, alliums, meat, five spice. Highly recommend it.
Wow! What a gem of a lunch spot. Visited after a doctor's appointment at UCSF and treated myself to two delicious hand pies. The classic chicken was delicious, the texture and veggie mixture was excellent. The garbanzo bean and curry pie was unique, light and full of flavor.
Had to resist the temptation of trying a sweet pie as well, but I bet they're good! They had vegan options for savory pies and gluten free options for sweet.
Best bakery for both gluten free and full gluten. Organic ingredients and lots of love make everything top rate! Can’t wait to get back there after these past 2 years.

Good spot for work. Open, airy and bright.
Lots of salads and pastries available. Gluten free and dairy options. I had the Vietnamese chicken salad and it was scrumptious!
Nice outdoor seating too, with plenty of folks working away on their laptops. Outlets inside as well.
Kind servers!

Cute local neighborhood spot for coffee with both doors wide open upon my arrival. Mixes of natural woods, homemade ceramic cups/containers, fresh quick grabngo meals. Got an iced mocha and gluten free carrot cake. The mocha is as I think modest in size relative to the price but and ideally have liked it sweeter/more chocolate flavor BUT if you’re looking for rich, authentic espresso flavors this was a good place. The gluten free carrot cake was extremely soft with a crumbly top. I think it was slightly expensive for the price but otherwise remarkable flavor and texture.
A legendary neighborhood spot known for its exceptional sourdough, made with an old starter, attracting fans from near and far.

Great neighborhood bakery. Full service applied by by friendly staff. Their sour doughs are legendary. I have a friend who needs to follow a gluten free diet and she fully tolerates their sour dough. She claims it's the "old" starter they use. Anyway, if you want some excellent FRESH sour dough you will find it here.
Susie Cakes has amazing tasting cakes. My favorite were Red Velvet and Marble Cake. They also had gluten free cupcakes for my celiac friend! The staff was super friendly helping figure out which cake I should get. At the end I got both pieces of cake since they gave them to me as samples to try. They made my first day on the city! Thank you!
Viva la tarte is a nice quiet place among the hustle and bustle of 24th St. in Noe Valley. While the plant based/vegan offerings are unfortunately really minimal, the one that they do have is quite good. They have a freshly made gluten-free, plant-based/vegan loaf which they sell by the half or full (loaf).
It’s a great place to bring your laptop and do work for part of the day, it’s also a great place to have a nice leisurely breakfast or brunch. The café is located on 24th St., accessible by one muni line or a few public transportation bus lines.
I would encourage the café to continue to build their plant-based/vegan selection.
