This is one place where I can go to get safe gluten-free pastries and was really disappointed with my last experience. My wife and I went into the shop on 6/28 which is my birthday for me to get a few birthday treats. We were at the bakery counter while the worker was checking out a male customer. The male customer left and two women entered. My wife and I had been waiting at the counter where all the pastries are to order and so the other two women stood on the right hand side of us, closer to the door. The worker with purple hair proceeded to completely disregarded my wife and I and smiled, spoke and attempting to help the two women who had came in after only for them to tell the worker we were they first which the worker already knew and they proceeds to say “oh yes they were” and then comes over to us. This was so off putting and I really appreciate those two women who spoke up. That encounter really shifted the vibe of my day and I will not be returning. Also, the quality of the cupcakes were so poor, they had hardened. There’s no way they were fresh. To the worker, do better. Don’t make people feel small in a place where they are expecting equality. Thank you.

Why bake when you can have some of these cakes! The mobile team showed up to my job yesterday...and BABY!!!! I purchased 4 of the small cakes, different varieties. I am a vendor and do markets every week and there are always baked goods and desserts at our markets but never anything gluten-free so I usually miss out. I was so glad that they were there with amazing gluten-free desserts. They made my night!!!! I bought cookies, brownies and mini muffins and all of them were excellent quality. I love this place! Friendliness is abound! Especially Tyler and Annie. Food choices are much appreciated especially the vegan plus gluten-free options considering both in one meal or pastry is hard to find! Atmosphere is terrific. Regularly drive from Fleming Island to pick up pastries ordered from their bakery called Blueberry.
Definitely recommend ordering a bday cake from Blueberry and picking it up at Southern Grounds while grabbing a muffin or coffee! (Photos of most recent cake ordered this weekend which was a special order of GF/Dairy Free). Shout out to Kat at Blueberry who is fantastic with orders and customer service!
Experience is seamless between Blueberry and Southern Grounds every time. I recently learned that they do catering, so I’m looking forward to working with them in the future on an event.
Update. Went today on 6/20/25 for lunch. Wyatt had the best customer service of the 3 people involved in our food service. Thank you Wyatt for making what could have been a bland experience STELLAR . Wish the veggie bowl was offered with a more robust rice than Jasmine. (My only suggestion)
