Ordered 5 boxes of cupcakes from Sugar Daddy's for a party and they went down a absolute storm. These aren't just good gluten-free cakes, they're good cakes full stop! Many of our guests didn't even realise they were gluten-free, and for our coeliac friend who'd never had a cupcake before, it was a revelation. Particularly recommend the salted caramel, usually I'm disappointed by the lack of saltiness in things advertised this way but there was definitely a salty kick in this caramel! Will certainly be a repeat customer.

Lots of vegan, vegetarian, gluten free options marked in the menu. There were 4 people waiting for tables when we arrived, and we still were seated in 5mins. Pizza and salad combo makes a perfect light meal. Salad was as basic as it gets, but fine. Pizza was better than I expected - thin crust, well dressed.

We were in the neighborhood doing some shopping and one of the shoppes mentioned Côte. It was nearby and we walked in during a busy lunch time. The accommodated us very nicely considering we didn’t have a reservation. I adore French food but never get to go when dining with my daughter who is gluten and dairy free. We went to celebrate my sister's graduation and the staff made sure to congratulate her which was a very nice touch!
We got a variety of pastas, pizzas, salads and sides. It was all fantastic, including the gluten free Caesar salad which my mum gave a 10/10. High praise.
I had the Pappardelle alla Norcina (Picture attached), which was lovely! I struggled to finish it as we also had garlic bread. My favourite part of the meal however was the focaccia we shared as a starter, which was warm, soft and had great flavour.
Would definitely give this place a go!

Used Vittoria many times over the years in both locations. Enjoyed it every time but sadly today was well below previous standards.
We asked about gluten free for the starters as there was gluten free bread available and a quite a few of the starters were something with garlic bread so could they swap it. Told no the chef would t cut a slice just for that. Really poor standard. Why offer pizza and pasta gluten free mains but do nothing for starters and also dessert. You’ll find it’s either sorbet or gelato.
Meatball starter I was excited for but instead of the one large Polpette you used to get it was four small very average meatballs.
One main course was good the seafood tagliatelle is recommend that, the rucola salad side was a bit tiny for the price.
The other main course chicken and spinach risotto was another very average dish. This was a go to in the past and was much better on previous visits.
The raspberry sorbet dessert was nice after we had to remind them it was to come with a berry compote which they corrected to be fair.
Overall sadly very average for what used to be a highlight for Edinburgh.

Overall, the service was very friendly, especially from Mallory the waitress who served me. The shop could be stocked with a wider variety of souvenir items though.

I initially was recommended a “small family-run” cafe to visit, but without a name, I was left guessing which of the hundreds of cafe in Edinburgh it was.
Regardless, I went in out of curiosity. Upon walking down the stairs and entering the venue, a warmth of comfort engulfed me. Both from the atmosphere and the people serving.
For the two times I was there, I got a dish and a drink. The homemade hot chocolate was definitely the one that stood out the most. Just absolutely rich in flavour. Their carrot and cumin soup was also splendid alongside their bread. Definitely a can’t miss when it’s the soup of the day alongside one of the sandwiches.
Definitely a lot of variety of dishes and I appreciate the dietary customisation options such as gluten-free and diary-free alternatives. Decent variety of vegetarian options. I did take notice that a lot of options had avocados. I guess that’s a pretty popular ingredient.

We were about to visit the nearby Make Believe and had to feed our babies somewhere, as unfortunately the other place doesn’t allow bringing baby food in. Thank you very much to the lovely staff at the Painted Rooster who provided us with two high chairs, took our order at the table and were very understanding with some baby food ending up underneath the table 🙈 We only had some drinks as unfortunately there weren’t many cakes that would be both gluten and dairy free but we would love to come again and try more dishes properly! I've tried DD's in 3 places now and it's been good every time. The menu changes frequently as does the location though the vibe of the cafe in Marchmont is great for brunch.
The fried chicken is nice and crispy and a real treat if avoiding gluten (and also if not!). I highly recommend the Korean waffle if it's available (pictured at the Bellfield gf brewery popup). Very interesting flavours and not something you see everyday even with gluten.
They even sometimes have guest pop-ups themselves in Marchmont which is a brilliant idea.
