This is a fast food place that does have gluten free buns available upon request. But that's twice now they have not given me bacon on my club sandwich. Stay alert and check that before moving away.
Enjoy a cozy vibe with comfy ambience, helpful staff, and great spots for relaxing or tackling your next book club while sipping on delicious drinks.

Their oat milk hot chocolate was delicious and creamy for those who don't consume dairy. They also said they have gluten free bread for their sandwiches, so I'll have to try that next time.

That's a place designed for nerds I had absolutely no problem being able to order a meal with gluten-free dietary restrictions and also non-alcoholic cocktails. We had a blast picking out board games and this place was delightful! Cannot wait to go back!

EXTREME DISAPPOINTMENT
I would like to express my complete dissatisfaction with my recent visit to your tearoom. I was with a group of 15 for a bridal shower. We were all so extremely excited to come to your establishment for a tea party yet all of us were so disappointed. I am confident that no one from the event will ever return. Here are a few reasons as to why:
Our party was confirmed and intended to be the only party in the room. However, we were double booked with a child’s birthday party. It was very loud, and the servers were focused on the children.
The temperature in the tearoom was extremely hot and we had asked if there was any way to increase the cool air. We were told no, and that the AC unit was just not very good. About an hour into our event, I noticed a fan in the back corner near the bathroom. I took it upon myself to get up and move the fan from the back corner closer to our table. A more customer serviced oriented approach would have been for the employees to offer the fan to us when we informed them how uncomfortable we were.
We had to ask for water, which came without any ice. When we asked for ice, we were told “we don’t have any because we ran out.”
The teapots that were set on the table were extremely hot and very heavy to pick up and self-serve. Many of us experienced pain and light burns on our hands when attempting to pick up the pots.
We were given very small glass teacups to use and the cup handle was so small you could not hold the cup with one hand.
When scones were served to the group, and I was informed that the gluten free scones would be out shortly. About 5-10 minutes later one of the employees came out and said “I burned the gluten free scones, so I don’t have any scones for you. I can give you something else if you want.” I declined.
Salads were served without any dressing and when dressing was requested it seemed to throw the employees for a loop as they had to go ask someone in the back if that was OK.
There were not enough salads made for the group so 2 people had to share.
We were informed that there were 3 soups to choose from. Chicken noodle, Chicken gnocchi, and tomato (but only 2 servings of tomato available). About half of the table selected chicken gnocchi and the other half selected chicken noodle (1 chose tomato). Several minutes later a server came to us and said “would anyone who ordered Chicken gnocchi be willing to change to chicken noodle? We don’t have enough chicken gnocchi to go around.”. A few people offered to change to chicken noodle, yet the server still had a problem. I asked her “how many servings of chicken gnocchi do you have available?” and she said “none.” Why didn’t she just say that in the first place? The entire table (except for the 1 tomato) had to change to Chicken noodle. On top of that, the soup was room temperature when it was served to us, and the tomato seemed to be poured right out of the can into the cup.
Employees were not dressed appropriately for a tea.
Honestly, if we were not there to celebrate the bride, we would have all walked out and refused to pay. I feel terrible for the bride and her sister who paid for this event. I feel like she should be given an exceptionally large refund! This was the most disappointing experience that I have ever had.
I did send an email to the establishment but as of 4 days later I have not heard back.

I did not leave a single crumb on the plate. If I was in the area, I would surely have gone back the next day to eat the same dish.
Today, I decided to explore the flavors from the East Africa by trying Ethiopian cuisine. The African continent is home to more than 50 countries, each with its own unique dishes. Having tried cuisines from various African countries, I was looking forward to comparing this cuisine with what I have had previously in other restaurants.
The waitress at Vera's Kitchen was very pleasant and able to explain the items on the menu when we ordered.
I choose to eat Beyaynetu, a vegetarian dish served with injera bread, a spongy injera flat bread made from highly nutritious gluten-free teff flour. I loved the complex and rich flavors of the five items on top of the injera bread. Pieces of the bread are normally torn off and used to grab the lentils and vegetables on top, although using a fork is also an option. And like I said-not a crumb was left on the plate. I finished the meal off with fine Ethiopian coffee that arrived in the traditional vessel.
If there is anything that could be improved, possibly the restaurant's decor but I went there for the food. When the food is this excellent, ambiance is just a bonus.
Experience a vibrant atmosphere with stunning high ceilings, chandeliers, and friendly vibes that make you feel right at home.

Our family had brunch at The Black Sheep today. Everything was delicious. Top notch service, attention to detail, friendly staff, etc. My only complaint is that for a restaurant at this level and per person price why don’t they have a non dairy alternative for coffee (almond milk, oat milk, etc.)? Also there were no gluten free dessert offerings. With all the food allergies and sensitivities out there these days you’d think a restaurant like this would be more open to accommodating everyone. It’s really not that difficult to provide a few more options. Also, what is with the Tabasco Sauce? Why not “tap” (brewery pun intended) into some good ole Virginia local hot sauce? I mean come on, you can do better than that!
our server was so nice & helpful w/food suggestions.
ordered the gluten friendly pancakes... OMG 😱 gf pancakes!! they were so fluffy & tasted like vanilla!! will SO be going back! 👍👍

Lovely small restaurant, located in Hoadly Rd. They have a couple small tables to dine in but they are a great option for takeout. The portions are very generous and they offer many gluten free options including a dedicated frier for the empanadas which are gluten free and delicious.

Wonderful spot. I chose it because the food sounded good and it was highly rated. I was not disappointed. Cute little spot with a nice, varied menu. Friendly, helpful staff. I knew the food was delicious before I even took a bite because it smelled so wonderful. I’m gluten-free and dairy-free, and there were plenty of options to meet my needs. Would definitely return.

We were in the area on vacation visiting friends. We are all for supporting small businesses over these large corporations. We tried Yorkshire and it was delicious. I explained to them my gluten allergy and they ensured me my order will be made away from everyone else's order. I ordered the 'Yorkshire Omlette'. We even ate at Yorkshire prior to catching our flight out. We will definitely return when we come back to visit friends.

I have problems with sugar and as such I generally get a gluten free cheesecake for my birthday. My wife knowing this was trying to find a place that did them and did them well. When she placed the order we were hoping it would come out fine as most places won’t work with sugar substitutes. Well this was one of the best cheesecakes I’ve had. Rich and creamy and the crust wasn’t purely nuts but had that graham cracker texture to it. If there was any issue with the cake it was that we got it and it wasn’t holding its form very well. I’m more of a taste guy and unless I’m going to a Michelin starred restaurant I won’t have issues with presentation with it tasting as good as it did.

Best tortillas. For those with Celiac disease/gluten sensitivity, this is about as safe as it gets for gluten free tortillas from an authentic tortilleria. The masa harina they use (maseca brand, green and white bag) is gluten free, and they only mix it with water and salt. As far as I could tell when I visited September 2024, they don't bake anything in house with AP flour, so less of a chance of cross contamination.
Enjoy a welcoming vibe where thoughtful suggestions and attentive service make your visit smooth and memorable for the whole family.

I brought my entire family here for Thanksgiving, and I'd like to give a big shoutout to the cashier up front that day, Jair. Despite our large order for my entire family of seven persons. He was extremely friendly and patient with us. He provided us numerous ideas for my aunt, who is gluten-free and was unsure what to order. He went above and beyond his obligations as a Cashier, informing me that I had awards on my app that I was unaware of. If Jair is reading this, thank you for all of your hard work young lad.........

A perfect atmosphere for a local feel breakfast spot!! Just what I'd expect. Streams of folks coming in. Most tables turned over twice while I sat having a leisurely breakfast. The omelet was delicious!! I'll be back 😊
I said "I'll be back" and yes!! the the next morning I was and with all the people that stream in there I was so impressed that they remembered what I ordered the day before and that I needed it gluten-free!! 😊 ... this was a Saturday morning and so busy!! with happy breakfast dinners. They had to organize a short wait list and did this efficiently and fairly. Impressive!
