I want to share my terrible experience at the "La Cala" restaurant in Punta del Moral, Ayamonte, especially aimed at people with celiac disease who are looking to eat safely. My visit ended in gluten poisoning, the result of gross negligence and, even worse, the establishment's lack of honesty. From the first moment, I informed the staff that I have celiac disease and specifically asked if they could prepare gluten-free fried food (bacalaillas, anchovies and choco). The waitress assured me that there would be no problem and that everything would be adjusted to make it safe for me. Based on that statement, we placed the order. When the dishes started arriving, we asked another waiter again if the dishes were indeed gluten-free. His answer was clear: “yes, everything gluten-free.” Trusting that confirmation, I proceeded to eat. However, minutes later, they began to bring new dishes, this time clearly identified as gluten-free, with a different look and taste than the previous ones. It was evident that the first dishes I ate contained gluten. We immediately informed the staff and, instead of acknowledging the error, they simply flatly denied it, insisting that everything was acceptable, something that did not correspond to either the procedure followed or the real taste of the dishes. The result was food poisoning, with all the physical and emotional consequences that this implies for a person with celiac disease. But the most serious thing was not only the failure in the kitchen, but also the total lack of professionalism and empathy in the response. In the face of such a serious failure, the least expected is to take responsibility, apologize sincerely and act honestly. Here, on the contrary, they chose to hide the error, deny it and minimize a very serious health problem. I do not recommend this restaurant under any circumstances to anyone who has celiac disease or has special dietary needs. Health is not a game nor can it depend on the improvisation or misinformation of an establishment. This experience has been disappointing, frustrating and, above all, dangerous. I hope that this review serves to warn future customers and that the restaurant becomes aware of the seriousness of what happened.

Spectacular location. Right on the beach. The food is a delight. Elaborate burgers, nachos...everything delicious. And most importantly, they take great care with gluten-free options for those with celiac disease. They adapt almost every dish.

Today my wife and I went to breakfast, since I discovered this place and that they had gluten-free pancakes and waffles... We were unlucky in that they had just opened after the holidays and today they didn't have gluten-free ones. Even so, she ordered a gluten-free toast that was delicious, even the bread without anything on top tasted good. In my case, I did order the pancakes and they gave me chocolate to add that was delicious, honey and caramel. In my opinion, the pancakes were a little dry but well served, of course. The coffee was another thing that adds many points to the place. Anyway, I don't know what to eat, but for breakfast it is 100% recommended and even more so if you have intolerances or are celiac. Although the toasts are predetermined by letter, they were kind enough to personalize it for my wife.

We went to the store because we read that they had quite a few gluten-free options. We were pleasantly surprised, the restaurant is very nice and from the first moment Juan Carlos, the waiter who served us on both occasions, welcomed us very well, recommended us very accurately, was very kind and very attentive to us, especially with the issue of gluten. The food was spectacular, we tried the sirloin with caramelized pineapple and the rice, and highlighting the cheesecake, the best we have ever had. It is true that they have to learn a little more how to deal with the issue of gluten, but they try and do it quite well. We will definitely return

The best place in the area. I'm celiac, and this is a great choice. The variety is huge; we've eaten here twice, and it's a daily favorite. The rice is wonderful, and the grilled fish is always fresh. And for 11 euros? You can't believe it. They're pet-friendly, and the waiters are top-notch.

"El Paladar" surpasses itself. Gluten-free bread, gluten-free beer, gluten-free salmorejo and on top of that most of the fish is fried with chickpea flour. THANK YOU for those details that make a difference.

Terrible service. The waiters give the impression that they don't care about anything, including you. They take forever to ask for something, or they forget... Besides, I'm celiac and I need them to inspire confidence, trust, and reassure me that my food isn't contaminated, something they haven't given me at all. On top of that, they respond rudely to everything I've asked and asked for. I asked one of the waiters what the gluten-free burger had, and he literally responded in a somewhat rude tone: "Well, lettuce, tomato... The usual stuff that all burgers have," and there are actually several types of burgers with a variety of ingredients; they're not all the same... After they brought me my plate, there were fries, and I asked another waiter if they had fried them in clean oil to ensure there was no cross-contamination, to which he also rudely responded: "Man, if the burger is gluten-free, I suppose the fries are too, but if you don't trust me, I'll ask." And he never came back hahahahaha, so I left the fries just to be safe... I have to say that the burger meat was very good because you can tell it was homemade, but the service and security at that place are zero.

The grilled fish was on point and well served. As a detail, they treated us to salad and ice cream. Everything wonderful. The food is great, the portions are very complete and delicious, sometimes they have gluten-free fried food (and if not, other options such as meatballs, sirloin, octopus...) which are wonderfully eaten. Fast service and very friendly and attentive staff, especially the blonde girl with the braid. The young woman smiles every time she brings you or picks up a plate and the smile radiates to you. I'm celiac, and he took care of every detail and kept me informed so I didn't have any problems. The waitress was also very kind and attentive. Highly recommended, we were having a lot of problems finding a gluten-free place and despite not having a reservation they made room for us. The service is exquisite and you can order most of the dishes without gluten, they also have gluten-free bread. Also noteworthy is that we went with our dog and they brought out a bowl of water for her. A complete success!

Following the reviews, I came in a week ago and they told me there was gluten-free food. The waiter who served me was honest and said, "Come during the week and we can give you better service, since it's very busy on weekends." To my surprise, I came in two days in a row and a waitress practically threw me out, telling me there was NO BEER, GLUTEN-FREE FOOD, OR BREAD. I don't know if they didn't understand or didn't want any more reservations. I definitely won't be back.

It was a wonderful discovery. The service was excellent, the food was brilliant, original, and flavorful. Plus, with expert knowledge of allergens, we haven't had any problems with gluten. Everything was controlled, even with recipes that usually contain gluten. We had some cuttlefish meatballs with their ink that were delicious.
