Be careful if you have a food allergy. I am celiac, asked for gluten free fish and chips, but I got food contamination. It made me vomit shortly after finishing.
Uvae is a gem. Love the happy hour oysters and bubbly. Some favorite dishes are the charcuterie board (the lavender honey!), brussel sprouts, cauliflower, scallops, shrimp + grits, chicken thigh... honestly we've liked everything! Cocktails are balanced and creative. Emma is a wonderful, personable server with top-notch wine recommendations, and was very accommodating to a gluten-free family member. I really appreciate that they have a few mocktails on the menu too. Chef Whitney is thoughtful, talented, and doing super cool things: last night we had a beet hummus plate with veggies and sesame tapioca crisps. It looked like an art piece and tasted like heaven; we were scraping our plates. The vibe is cozy and unpretentious. Go spend your money here!
With a warm, eclectic vibe and standout dishes, this spot is a must-visit for a cozy meal that you'll want to repeat.

A unique diner! It’s a new world once you enter the door. The sitting on the floor area in the front is such an cute idea, it also puts the people sitting there in the window somehow and I love that! Back of the diner is a full shop with handmade clothes, silver jewelry, scarves, imported souvenirs, incense, candles… I’m telling you it’s another world. I tried a cold brew coffee and a gluten free & vegan brownie they were both very quality. I will be coming back.

We went for brunch during restaurant week. We had the gluten free fried chicken and their cornbread as well! Both were very delicious. The only downside was communicating with the servers. Our server interrupted me in the middle of asking about allergen cross-contamination of the fryers by stating "no" to answer my question. While I'm sure she gets the question a lot, it did leave me worried about if she fully understood my question or if I fully understood her answer. At the end of our meal, I asked if I could get a box for my leftovers, and the busser said yes, taking my plate... so I just assumed she was going to box it for me... which I did think was odd. Then, when we asked her again, she sent other bussers and our server over to our table and acted like she didn't know what we were talking about. They did end up replacing the chicken they threw away, which was appreciated, but they seemed really bothered about it. Not sure if they were understaffed or if it was just simply too loud in there to hear properly. The food was good enough we will probably give it another try! (The ginormous plates make the serving sizes look tiny, but they're not as small as they look)
A classy spot for date night, it boasts a stellar cocktail selection, adventurous wines, and an enticing mezze menu that dazzles.

As a celiac diner, there aren't that many spots in Chicago that make me feel welcome, and feed me safely. Fiya is a new favorite on the list. The staff are knowledgeable, and can help guide you through the menu, where many options are either naturally GF or modifiable. A dazzling array of mezze with warm, fluffy GF pita was a brilliant introduction on my first visit. When I returned for brunch, I ordered the strapatsada - a bowl of beautifully scrambled eggs laced with chili, sumac, tangy feta and topped with blistered oven roasted tomatoes, served with those warm, fluffy gluten free pita. The fresh mint tea with saffron is an enchanting and mysterious beverage that's worth a slow sip, and the bar menu always has several excellent quality ciders on draft. Highly recommend a visit!

We have been coming to Calo for many, many years from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We adore it. So many of our important life moments and celebrations have happened there. And this past weekend, my uncles held their wedding rehearsal dinner there - as it was the place of their first date 10 years ago. Huge, extra special thanks for preparing something gluten free for me, including the most delicious and fudgiest flourless cake!
A creative breakfast and brunch spot where you can mix and match your meal from a variety of sides, though the acai bowl may not impress.

Great breakfast and brunch spot in Andrew Chicago. Yummiest when I create my own breakfast from the list of sides. gluten free toast is available. not a fan of the frozen dessert soup they call "acai bowl".

An absolute treasure of a place.
We found it looking for late night dinner, and this place hit the mark ! Steaks at midnight? Yes please. The steaks were perfectly prepared, the veggie of the day was fresh green beans expertly prepared, and they were able to accommodate my gluten allergy.
Bartender AND the regulars were friendly and up for lively conversation.
Cocktails really were standouts!! I will be back for the “Empress of the Sun”.
Charming neighborhood spot with a cozy vibe, filling meals, and a lovely outdoor patio—perfect for nostalgic brunching with friends.

I cant recommend this place enough! Huge pancakes and super filled omelettes, breakfast potatoes to die for, the old school decoration, the vibe, the sweet waiter, the busyness…this place is just heartwarming. I highly recommend trying any pancake your heart desires and either the Denver or the smokehouse omelette to share. They have gluten free toast on request but they toast it in a shared toaster. No gluten free pancakes on the menu.
Vibrant atmosphere and top-notch service set the stage for rave-worthy dishes and standout drinks, making it a must-visit spot!
