Really good service but we didn't really enjoy the food. We ordered off the gluten free menu and pasta didn't taste that great. Ordered the lobster meal but pieces were very small. Substitutions were common because they didn't have what was offered. Overall we felt disappointed in the meals.

Everything is gluten free which was amazing, I didn't have to worry about only getting to choose from two items on the menu. The salsa options were a bit odd, there was a cheese/yogurt type dip among the four they give you and it just didn't fit with the Latino flavors well, it was more Mediterranean in taste. Definitely pricier for how much food you get but the chips are a free refill. When I asked about diet pop options I was told they didn't have any but they have what appeared to be a full bar with a fountain pop sprayer (which normally would have at least one diet option). The only thing I could have to drink was water there (I'm a type one diabetic and regular pop is a bad situation).

Had the BEST experience here. Trying to find a restaurant that offers a gluten free menu as well as regular with no discernible differences in taste is 1 in a million and buzzard Billy’s is exactly that. Any time we ever come back it will be good at BB. Kristen, Kela and shiree are the best servers EVER!

I was really excited to go here and get gf crepes. The reviews made it seem super safe. We walked in a the staff was not friendly whatsoever, the girl practically threw the cups and water at our table. I was watching them cook the crepes and they cleaned everything with what looked like chemical cleaning spray. I was also nervous because I could only see the one container of nutella that they were using for all of the non-gf crepes and was questioning if they would open a new container. They didn’t, I watched them use the exact same knife and container for my crepe. Overall disappointed.

I ordered a special catering meal for a family dinner and was absolutely blown away by both the service and the food! They went above and beyond—creating a custom menu just for us, making flatbread per my special request (even a gluten-free version!), and communicating quickly and kindly throughout the whole process. When I came to pick it up, the staff was so friendly and welcoming—they even had me sampling things at the counter! I genuinely felt like I was at home. Oryza has become a staple of our Asian food expeditions whenever the desire arises. The primary reason is my wife has Celiac’s and therefore must avoid gluten. Oryza fortunately uses corn based flour, not wheat. This wizardy allows food allergen victims to be able to eat from their diverse menu. Their food preparation is excellent. The atmosphere is chill. The service is fantastic. We’ve had only 1 negative experience and noticed that same server was not employed there for much longer. ANYWAYS- this is a great place for Asian cuisine. The owner is always friendly and recognizes us when we visit.

We had such a great experience! My friend & her daughter came from out of state to visit for my birthday. They are both allergic to wheat and her daughter has a total of 10 food allergies, one of them anaphylactic. They were more than accommodating. They checked and double checked ingredients and the chef/owner literally made her some specific au jus that she could eat. He made the French fries to order without the spices that she’s allergic too. He even brought out some extra fries for her to take home! Our appetizer- “hush money spuds” were so good we had them gobbled up in minutes! Highly recommend even if you are not gluten free! Everything was so delicious! Mac and cheese was like nothing I’ve ever eaten before. Totally worth the drive and even though I am not gluten free, I will definitely be back for their amazing food and service!! They also have gender neutral private bathrooms.

Not bad option for Gluten Free casual dining. The GF beer is amazing, but no potato vodka option like the Map Room.
There is only one GF bun, so don't expect a "hoagie" with the Philly Cheese Steak - the flavor of which is good, but not great.
I shied away from the special coleslaw due to the accents about the cilantro, but when I asked for a taste, it was good. And the black bean salad was AMAZING! (despite the canned beans).

This place ROCKS!! Our server Olivia was great and we really enjoyed the coffee, gluten-free pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and omelettes. The only thing holding this place back from a full 5 stars was the portion size of the orange juice. Orange juice was $5.50, and while I understand that it is fresh-squeezed, the portion size was only about 5 total gulps (I’ll do the math for ya - more than 1 dollar per gulp…) which was disappointing. Don’t get it twisted - we LOVE this place and will totally be back again as we have many times before. Just leaving some constructive criticism as we truly want this place to flourish! Thanks again Olivia!

I love Trumpet Blossom. I come here every time I come to Iowa city. The food is delicious and plant based. I am a meat eater, and yet I love all the dishes here. I feel like I miss nothing. Just finished a dinner at Crave. Eight people at the table. ordered drinks. Ordered an IPA that was not in stock anymore, but on the menu. Ordered a gin martini. Lady coming back to the table with the drinks spilled my martini into the other water glasses and drinks on her serving tray. Handed me a glass 1/3 full of a standard martini glass. Mentioned no olives. Her her reply was she wasn’t sure if I wanted any. Asked for olives. In the hour and a half dinner they never came. Daughter ordered a gluten-free no cheese hamburger guess what; we had to re-order. Took so long due to timeframe. Had to leave with food to go. 20% gratuity due to being a table with eight people. Bullshit! Horrible service. Food is way overpriced. Will never go there again.

My family and I came to eat here on 6/20 because of the dairy free and gluten free options, necessary accommodations for some of our family members. The vibe was alright; we called ahead and were seated promptly. The outdoor play area was a neat touch. The server was friendly but did forget to place the order for my 2 year old, which was frustrating. It was highly concerning that our food came out so quickly. My husband and I ordered the Fried Bologna Sandwich; it was greasy and gross and I could not eat it. My brother-in-law got The Dunbar, which also had bologna on it. The 3 of us who had some of the bologna ended up with food poisoning. I attempted to notify the restaurant via Facebook messenger and the 3 attempts “couldn’t send”. I sent them a message through their website, and also contacted the health department.
Not a good experience and won’t be back.
Update: they did reply back to my message through their website and refunded us, so I appreciated the customer service aspect to help remedy the situation.

Went with my fiance to try out the restaurant, as we're looking into caterers for our wedding, and we had heard Crane & Pelican was great. The atmosphere is great! Service wasn't bad by any means, though I think the two servers could have used another hand once guests started coming in for dinner.
The food was not good. I honestly should have left after the second bite. I got the pecan salmon, it came with a side of green beans, and rizzoto. The green beans must have been soaking in a vat of oil. I have NEVER had green beans like this. I understand too much butter, and that's forgivable, but I mean soaked through with oil. I should have just stopped there, but I didn't want to appear rude, so I finished them. The rizzoto? Genuinely so bland it was almost tasteless, other than a strange sour flavor that was reminiscent of dawn dish soap. I took two small bites, and I wish I didn't. The salmon was cooked very well, though. Perfect. But when I ordered, I guess I neglected to realize the salmon would be completely covered in blueberry syrup with pecans? It wasn't bad, per se, but I still can't fathom how those are supposed to taste good together.
My fiance got the gluten free, vegan pasta salad. I don't know what the name of the dish actually is, but it's just pasta salad with those gross checkpea noodles with random bits of broccoli and avocado. We've both had a fair few gluten free, and vegan dishes. There's no reason it should have been so bland. The first taste was simply off putting. It was gross. Not like it needed salt, but it needed to be reconsidered as a dish all together. I felt so bad for her I tried to give her some of my salmon, but she doesn't care for pecans, and is not big into fish. She tried to force herself to get through some of it, but ultimately she couldn't.
Of all the items we got. The bread service, and the summer sangria were just about the only two things worth their cost. I genuinely do not mean to be rude to the chef, the staff, or anyone there at all. We were quiet, didn't make a scene, and waited until we were outside to talk about how we both felt. We both agreed. Never going back. I paid, and left a 15% tip. I usually always leave a 20% but I just genuinely could not bring myself to. I don't know if something went wrong with our meals, or if there was some mistake while they were prepared, but I genuinely cannot believe this place has a 4.6 star rating, while serving food like this.
Now it's been about 3 or 4 hours since going, and we're both nauseous. I don't think we have food poisoning or anything, for myself, I feel it was the absurd amount of oil I consumed, and the sour soapy taste of the rizzoto, as for my fiance, I think it was just simply how off, and sad the pasta salad tasted.
I won't pretend to have the most refined sense of taste, but both my fiance and myself have eaten quite a wide range of foods, in a fair few places across the US. This was simply not good. It made me feel sick.
This restaurant has great potential, the presentation, and the atmosphere, and the staff were all great, but I genuinely think some menu items need attention. Maybe partner with a survey company, and offer 20% off, or a free drink at your next visit for giving feedback, on the receipt. The chef is obviously talented, and cares about their work, I just cannot see how the average person would enjoy the items we ordered. I'm sure there are other items on the menu that are much better. We specifically chose items available on the catering menu, as we were taste testing for our wedding dinner.
The food was a genuine 1 or 2/10. But I do believe with some adjustments and reinvention this restaurant could be a regular date destination for my future wife and myself. I do hope to see a few changes, and I hope no one takes this review as an attack. I am just trying to give honest feedback.

Some places have good food, some places have good atmosphere, the Morning Story-Marion has both.
I have dined here a number of times, quite a number, actually😉
This breakfast & lunch restaurant is bright, bustling, and brand new (in Marion, Iowa since Nov 2021).
They have a sophisticated, modern menu with a SW vibe. This is definitely not an old school diner, offering items like a Mimosa Fried Chicken Benedict or the equally scrumptious Green Chili Chicken Hash.
I have had perhaps 10 dishes from the breakfast menu and have never been even slightly disappointed. The dishes are generous and will provide yummy leftovers for many patrons.
The lunch menu is also full of delectable choices, from sandwiches like burgers, a club, tenderloin, and philly to fresh salads and the always popular half-n-half combo.
I had a fantastic breakfast with my partner recently, our choices being the gluten-free Oatmeal Pancakes, with Rolled Oats, Strawberries, Blueberries, Agave Nectar, Blueberry Compote, and Powdered Sugar. Available also as a combo with eggs and a choice of meat.
The second dish was the Breakfast Quesadilla with Scrambled Eggs, Diced Bacon, Roasted Onion, Green Peppers, Cheddar Jack Cheese, Jalapeño Cream Cheese, Fresh Herbs, Salsa Roja.
Both dishes were incredibly tasty, made fast and fresh with high-quality ingredients and bursting with flavor.
Enough about the food, no mention of this place would be complete without mentioning the hustling, professional, and super friendly staff. One can not help but feel as though every visit is a get-together with good friends. Every staff member on every visit has been smiling, chatty, and genuinely welcoming. The manager (who is a star) not only circulates the dining room constantly, assuring everything is going perfectly, but also somehow finds time to speak to all of the customers in this very busy restaurant in an unhurried way that never ceases to amaze me.
Visit for breakfast or lunch, and I can promise you will be thrilled with the food and delighted with the staff.
