This was our favorite restaurant in all of Southern Africa! My husband and I ordered almost every entree on the vegan menu (11 dishes), including their 3 course set menu with 3 sides (we're foodies!). Every single one was delicious and made with fresh, healthy ingredients. My favorite was the Defin Misir Alicha - a brown lentil dish. I am going to try to find a recipe to make it back home in America! My husband raved about every dish that was seasoned with Berbere. He ordered a cocktail (the Spice Ethiopian Tosgne) which he still talks about because it was so good (and he's very picky about his cocktails, since he's an unofficial expert mixologist). The service was exceptional. Our waiter (Linga?) was friendly and cheerful, prompt, personable, and respectful. The brief interactions we had with other waiters (and I think the owner) were all remarkably friendly. Our courses felt perfectly timed - neither rushed nor tardy. Our waiter even noticed that after the sun set, there were some mosquitoes near our outdoor table (we hadn't noticed) and was thoughtful enough to bring out some burning frankincense to repel them. It worked and smelled great! Everything looked and felt clean. The tables, chairs, plates, and decor all crafted an atmosphere that felt authentic, pleasant, and not overdone. They had so many options that we'd be comfortable bringing people there with all kinds of different needs - people who don't like spice or love spice, vegans, vegetarians, gluten-free, dairy-free, whatever. It's very accommodating.

I've been going to Babette's for more than 2 years and I'm simply in love with their new space at the Sprig Wellness Centre! It's so beautiful, calm and relaxing! I have had almost every dish on Babette's menu and I love that it is healthy, farm to table style meals without any nasty ingredients. Fran, the owner is absolutely divine and always share such nice foodie tips with me when we visit! Highly recommend the gluten free, refined sugar free cheesecake and their halloumi salad - my absolute go-to's!

I'm celiac, so I can't eat gluten at all. At the menu there are some dishes marked as gluten free, but always double check with the kitchen / waitress if it's 100% save. We went there two times and I always had the fish. It's delicious and I didn't had any problems. So totally recommend this place.

Having a gluten allergy I was super happy to find this place, as they have lots of GF options and seemed to take it seriously (not always the case in CT). Ordered online and selected GF option for both bread and flapjack. I also wrote a brief note in my order re the allergy. Food arrived and the bread wasn’t GF but only realised after a couple of bites. Long story short - food was nice but because of their slack outlook on GF (nothing was done regarding this) I couldn’t feel safe eating at this restaurant again. If you too have an allergy or intolerance, be mindful when ordering.

Food was good. Dessert was fantastic! Server at first didn't understand my allergy (celiac disease). Almost lost all confidence, but then the chef came out and immediately felt safe to eat here. He basically could alter half the menu for me. Had Nacho's which were okay. However the dessert was amazeballs! Would go back there. Also, no allergic reaction! :)

The food is some of the best I have ever had. we shared 2 lots of tacos & each had the brisket that melted in your mouth. I truly haven't had food quite like it before. The price is extremely valuable for the quality & location. The staff were exceptional, very kind & very knowledgeable. My friend is gluten-free and had plenty of great options available.

Lazari – A little café with a big heart Lazari is one of those places that makes you feel instantly welcome – whether you're a local or just passing by. This morning, I met my sportgrouo friends there for a wholesome vegan breakfast: gluten-free Bircher muesli with dry coconut, blueberries and apples, a fresh carrot juice, a fiery ginger shot, and a warm, comforting cup of mesquite – now my favourite caffeine-free café-style drink. Usually, I’m not vegan, but with a retreat coming up tomorrow, I wanted to skip animal products – and this breakfast was just perfect to feel light and a little detoxed. And I normally don’t like almond milk, but here it was surprisingly delicious – smooth and satisfying. With its mix of small, cosy tables and larger ones for lively gatherings, Lazari offers space for connection and calm alike. And at the heart of it all is Linda, Michelle and her team who brings soul and sparkle to this beloved neighbourhood spot. I’ll definitely be back – to savour more flavours, support this sweet buzzing hub, and soak in the friendly, feel-good vibe.

Stop most food and drink options at 3 pm and staff are generally unhelpful or unable to assist. The closing time of 430 pm is misleading as if you arrive at 4 pm most things are packed away. Prices are very high for what you get. During lunch it takes a long time to order and receive your food so if you have less than an hour it is better to go somewhere else. Having said that they offer a large variety of gluten free, vegan and vegetarian foods especially many sweet options/smoothies which are difficult to find at other restaurants. They have convenient parking which is provided free for Nourished customers and is leased by the restaurant (although the attendant looks belligerent and tries to imply that he owns the lot and should be paid for time spent in the nourished parking.) I would prefer a car guard.

We were 4 diners. My daughter has Celiac disease so we specifically went to Maria’s because they advertised gluten free food. The food was amazingly good! But the manager was rude and abrasive, very dismissive when we asked for assurance that the food was prepared separately. When we got our starters, her gluten free starter was placed next to pita bread that was NOT gluten free, thus contaminating her food. When we pointed this out to the manager, he simply shrugged and left. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. And also apologetic about another table that was very loud, causing us to not stay for dessert because the noise level was simply too high! The only down side about the food was the baklava fingers we ordered as take away. They were vile! Tasted only of cinnamon. I’m Greek so I know how they should taste. Very disappointing dessert, don’t order that!

We came to them because it was written on the menu that there were gluten-free dishes. When we arrived for breakfast they said that the gluten free dishes are pizza and pasta and they are not served because there is a breakfast menu. We took an omelette that was really satisfying. The coffee was good, the chocolate was not.. more delicious than chocolate.

The Scone Shack is a charming spot a little off the beaten track in the busy Summer holiday season in Cape Town. The farmyard chic styling is delightful, with rustic tables for all sized groups scattered in a landscape that includes great mountain views, a selection of farmyard animals, and succulents in every type of container you can possibly imagine. The mood is very relaxed and you may have to wait for your freshly baked scones with butter, jam and cream. Their crumbly deliciousness is well worth the wait. We tried the normal and gluten-free options with plum jam and both were very yummy. The menu is limited but I am always thrilled to find a small menu of excellence rather than a wide range of mediocrity. This will be a place I visit every chance I get. Note: cash only and open on certain days of the week.

Before I was diagnosed as a celiac I loved eating here. They have always had great quality, delicious food. I stopped for a few years because they didn't have good gluten free options. The Union Grocery has a nice range of gluten-free food. They also have coffees and mesquite, too. They make lovely breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful. Worth a visit if you are looking for something to eat.

We had lunch here on the recommendation of a local. Unfortunately, the audacity of others won out when it came to allocating tables, but in the end we also got a table with a great view. The gluten-free wrap with extra salmon tasted and looked excellent and was very filling. Nevertheless, a dessert couldn't be missing from the selection, which excited me even more. Ultimately, too much was deducted from the bill, but we didn't complain about this because of the good food.

This was our 4th experience here. We love the speakeasy, casual atmosphere in a beautifully decorated space. The food is also amazing, we often opt to share several Tapas style dishes which gives us a delightful dining experience. Personal favourites are the Pork Belly, Chicken Skewers & Paella. Their pizzas are great too and I love that they offer Gluten free bases. Overall a great experience with friendly and attentive staff. We drive from Mossel Bay to enjoy this restaurant.

Always enjoy a hard rock whilst travelling and this is one of the smaller venues with everything you would expect from a Hard Rock. Food was tasty however when ordering gluten free the server did not really know and suggested the pasta should be fine without the garlic bread.... we did however get there and the food was both tasty and safe to eat.

Gluten free batter alternative at no additional cost. Well cooked calamari (as this can easily be over cooked and become chewy) Lemon butter grilled fish is some of the best fish I've eaten. Proper "slap chips". I prefer crispy fries, but I am well aware that the fries this places provides, is how it is supposed to be at a fish & chip destination in SA. We've ordered a couple of times here and the GF batter came completely off the calamari on one occasion. Big portions Average waiting time of 10-15 minutes when ordering at 11:30
