Our family came here as a group of five. Three are able to eat anything, while two of us, my aunt and myself, have a laundry list of food issues including dairy allergies and celiac disease for both of us. The wait for a table was the only thing I could possibly say anything negative about, and to be honest, a 50 minute wait at 5 pm on a holiday weekend really isn’t that bad. Plus, that wait is a clear indication that this place is worth waiting for, and it REALLY is! The service is excellent. The food was delicious. The normal eaters in our group loved their meals (pasta and pizza). Those of us with food issues were pleased to have the option of gluten free pizza that is prepared safely, with vegan cheese. They have oven roasted olives which we had as an appetizer, and were delicious! They even had sorbet that was safe for dessert. I left stuffed and brought home half of a pizza. No sign of any cross contamination from either gluten or dairy for myself or my aunt. It was a great experience all the way around. We will definitely come back!

My aunt and I both have celiac and a dairy allergy. We shared a burger on a gluten free bun with fries. The staff is FANTASTIC! Very knowledgeable, extremely helpful, all while being extraordinarily friendly. Often it feels like our food issues are an imposition when we eat out, but not here! The gluten free bun is also dairy free. It does look more like an English muffin than a bun, but in my opinion that’s great because there is absolutely no mistaking their regular bun for their gluten free bun, and it tasted great too. It was recommended that we have the burger cooked medium rare, so we tried it that way. For both of us it was a little less cooked than we would ordinarily choose, and I think next time we will go with medium well just because of our own weirdness about the way we prefer our ground beef cooked. That said, even still, the burger was excellent and the fries were fantastic! Often we go to places with safe options for our dietary issues, and it’s clear that our husbands would not feel like the food was hearty enough. This place has thick hearty burgers that would satisfy the biggest carnivore. We will definitely be back, next time with our gluten and dairy consuming husbands! We went to Taverna to celebrate our NAU Graduate. Even though it was Graduation weekend and we were unfortunately very late for our reservation Taverna graciously accommodated us and had us seated immediately. We were a large group ordering multiple dishes and they were all outstanding! The only one we didn't like was the lunch special rice bowl. Our host actually recommended something else and unfortunately I didn't listen but I should have! He was right it wasn't very good but that was okay because everything else was amazing! Very grateful for all their care for dietary options- makes it perfect for a large group. We had someone with a nut allergy and they got us a scoop of ice cream which was really love. Loved the gluten free chocolate cake! Honestly my family and I had the BEST time here. It felt like a giant party and we were so well taken care of. Thank you, Taverna! You are doing great.
