Gluten free fish was decent, but fish and chips served undersalted and with a tiny wedge of lemon.
Far bigger complaint in the 45 minute wait when others that ordered well after us walked out with their food. We followed up twice on our order before it finally came out.
This spot boasts a unique vibe with hit-or-miss experiences, offering large portions and a notable selection of gluten-free options that keep fans returning.

I had the pleasure of trying this gluten-free fish cocktail, and I must say—it exceeded expectations in every way. Each bite-sized piece was perfectly golden and crisp, boasting a light and airy batter that didn’t feel heavy or greasy. The fish inside was tender, flaky, and fresh, offering a delightful contrast to the crunchy coating.
What impressed me most was how well-executed the gluten-free batter was—it held its structure beautifully and didn’t compromise on flavor or texture. Whether you’re gluten-intolerant or just exploring healthier alternatives, this fish cocktail is a total win. Great as a snack, appetizer, or party platter favorite!
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a delicious and inclusive seafood treat.
Get ready for a delightful dining experience with a fantastic atmosphere, stunning views, and a menu that impresses every time!

Gluten free fish - grilled, or for those who don't like batter are available The chips are cooked in a separate vat so there's no cross contamination but the chicken salt does contain gluten
The fish is delicious however, the calamari is divine It's crispy on the outside yet has soft & tender meat The fish also comes with lemon for those that appreciate that tangy addition
There is also hamburgers & other choices to choose from
With fantastic views, this spot is a go-to for delicious meals and cozy vibes, perfect for a relaxed hangout or a quick stop.

This is the best cafe for coeliacs in Nelson Bay. Best eggs Benedict I’ve ever had. Southern style chicken burger and wagyu burger were both amazing - just remove the fries as they aren’t gluten free. Tons of gluten free options for Brekky and lunch on the menu. Staff is great / knowledgeable about coeliac restrictions and even better - the chef is coeliac. Also make sure to get any gluten free sweets they have - we tried the blueberry muffin, date & walnut bread, & coconut raspberry bread - all incredible and you can’t even tell it’s gluten free. Can’t wait to come back here!

Great portion sizes. Fresh fish and calamari. Gluten free options (grilled fish, and chips are gf too). They were very busy (waited 30mins for our order) but the staff were transparent about it when ordering and super friendly.

Cafe Patina, what a find! Coeliac heaven and a huge improvement on the old Coonanbarra cafe menu, my only complaint being it was super chilly, so some air conditioning indoors and outdoor heaters wouldn’t go astray. The service was first class, staff not only really helpful with perfect recommendations for wine and menu choices but delightful and engaging… I will definitely be back!
Burgers and wraps get rave reviews here, dirt-cheap meals worth every penny, and twice-cooked fries are a standout.

I ordered some gluten free calamari, expecting it to at least be fresh, as one would. The calamari tasted extremely odd, only for me, and others with me to realise the calamari itself was off. I am very fortunate to not have received good poisoning yet, but still extremely repulsed by the fact I was served food that could have cause such.
Today we decided to try Salt, Chilli & Lime for lunch. I called to book a table for 2 adults and 1 child. I was asked if I was happy to sit outside, which I was fine with.. but asked to be in the shade being pregnant and 31 degrees. We were seated under an umbrella which we were told they couldn’t adjust as they were new and they were not sure how, so I had the sun on me the whole time! I could see a few other tables in the shade which I knew were reserved, but asked if we could move as I was getting burnt and uncomfortable. I was then told the table in the shade was reserved for 4 people (these 4 people happened to be friends of the owners, as we overheard them talking) we had plenty of time to sit and eat there before they arrived. They were just going to get drinks as we had finished eating.
The food was good, although the menu isn’t very clear, if starter or main! Also served from a paper tray with plastic recycled cutlery.
Could be more gluten free options, such as burgers and tacos!

Best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time.
Chips being hand cut are like the old fashioned chips.
Being celiac they were able to accommodate including a seperate fryer for chips!
Thank you very enjoyable.
Expect fresh, flavorful fish with efficient service; great for a quick takeaway when you're craving something tasty.

I really enjoyed the delicious food at Beautiful Food. The Calamari and Gluten Free options were particularly impressive, and my husband was thrilled with the variety available for him. Despite the restaurant being busy, our food arrived promptly.
