First the bad: We had a server who was new and when I asked if the fries were in a shared fryer, she got flustered and confused and she said, “Usually people who are gluten free know what they can and cannot eat.”
It was pretty bad and I almost requested someone new, but later the manager came out to help us and talk us through the menu.
Now the good: Good tacos. Shrimp and grits was excellent. They were out of GF buns so didn’t get to try the burger.
Delicious and affordable with a lovely lake view, this spot offers fresh options and a cozy atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed meal.

Had a very pleasant experience having dinner here. Our waitress was so sweet, and the lake view from the back patio was gorgeous. The food was amazing and affordable compared to other places in the area. Situated near cute shops. Plenty of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options available as well. We got the sourdough grilled cheese with tomato bisque, chicken and rib meal, and the chocolate torte. The fresh vegetables side was so good. Highly recommend:)
A hidden gem perfect for a quick bite while exploring; grab your meal to-go and enjoy fresh, local flavors without the fuss.

We went to the restaurant location for dinner. It was SOOOO good! The fish tacos with the mango sauce were sooo good! We even tried the venison tacos too and they were also really good! It was flavorful and delicious and perfection! Make sure you get the tortilla with the cheese! it's about $20 for 3 tacos and a drink. Gluten free since the shells are corn tortillas!
Enjoy stunning ocean views while savoring delicious breakfast options, perfect for those seeking variety and a laid-back vibe.

Quite a nice surprise. The owner of L&L Hawaiian Barbecue recommended we head over here when I asked her about gluten free offerings. The food here is really satisfying. Only a few items on the menu are not gluten free. Everyone working here knew exactly what I could order and what to avoid. Down to the possible barley malt in the granola for the smoothie bowls. My spouse said the ground beef on the nachos tasted good but that the pork in my bento box tasted even more delicious. If you prefer sauce or dressing on the side let them know upfront. Good music and positive vibes.
A hidden gem in Kihei, offering fresh and flavorful vegan dishes that even non-vegans rave about; perfect for a fun, casual meal!

If you have a good friend, or you yourself are vegan this place is the best place on Island to eat!! It is small, and kind of a secret—the tempeh or tofu used tastes and texture passs as meat, even my carnivorous husband agrees. The food is delicious, fresh and full of variety. We enjoyed the teriyaki bowl, and my friend, I took her for her birthday—at her request—had the gyros with gluten free wrap…she enjoyed every bite! Really wonderful service, we sat outside and people watched, in the shade. Now my husband wants to go to Earth Aloha Eats tomorrow, too.
Unique flavors and fresh ingredients shine here, making it a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Mexican cuisine in Hawaii.

Island Taco is the perfect lunch spot en route to Waimea Canyon. Located on the south side of Kauai, about 30 minutes from Waimea Canyon, island taco has great food and fast and friendly service. Lots of gluten free and vegan options that are safe for celiac!
The woman at Island Taco was extremely knowledgeable about gluten cross-contamination and she directed me on how to order so as to be safe! I ordered the mahi mahi tacos on corn tortillas with salsa and refried beans instead of chips (the chips are fried in a fryer with gluten). The tacos were delicious, flavorful, and loaded with cabbage, rice, and mahi! The refried beans were flavorful and creamy. Delicious and satisfying lunch before a day of hiking!
My two friends ordered the tofu burritos which were delicious! My one friend is vegan and was happy that the tofu and beans and rice were all vegan!
With fast and friendly service, it was so refreshing to eat at a spot that was so understanding of dietary restrictions.
There are covered picnic tables outside, so you can enjoy your tacos in the island breeze. Highly recommend Island Taco!
Expect a solid menu with highlights like chicken street tacos and tortilla soup, plus knowledgeable service to guide your choices.

Food, for the most part, is good. Wouldn't recommend the fish tacos, very dry, but the chicken street tacos and tortilla soup is very good. Service is good, the server was very knowledgeable. Asked about gluten-free options and let me know what options would be best.
Casual vibe with cafeteria service and ocean views, perfect for tasty meals in a busy spot, but watch out for wobbly tables and music issues.

No frills restaurant with very good food, staff was very knowledgable and able to cater for our coeliac daughter (which we found to be a struggle in other restaurants around Waikiki). Food was lovely, great place for a quick meal.
Enjoy amazing tacos crafted by a sweet owner who knows how to make your experience truly special and satisfying.

Delicious tacos. The lady who runs it is very sweet and understands all about celiac disease and cross contamination. All tacos in the menu are completely gluten free and amazing. Will be going back!
I LOVE Mexican and Tex-Mex foods. When my husband and I were at some sort of night market in this shopping center, although I wasn't hungry at the time, we decided we'd come back and try this place.
Ended up here right as the opened with only one guy in front of me. I ordered the Fat Mama with beef as a gluten free burrito bowl for $16 and a lilikoi agua fresca for $6.
My husband was so annoyed when he checked the receipt on his phone and noticed they charged an undisclosed 3% credit card fee. Places that charge fees when they're benefiting as a business from not having to carry and secure large amounts of cash, do less bank runs and have higher sales because people can use cards, can kick rocks.
The food was completely underseasoned and I told my husband he could have the rest. It barely had any lettuce for a bowl - it was like one leaf deep on 1 third of the top of a bowl full of gummy rice. The agua fresca was also bland.
Would not recommend.

I have to eat gluten free, so this place was amazing for me; tacos are gluten free without modification. I've had tacos across the island through the years and these were perfect to me, tasty but not loaded with spice, taco shell soft and fresh and protein not undercooked or overcooked. I can't speak to anything else on the menu. Staff were very friendly, and the vibe here is very very chill, right on the golf course next door to Pilimai so it's quiet open air (covered lanai) with pretty views.
A must-visit for fantastic tacos and unique Mexican corn, this spot is a local favorite you won't want to miss!

1st Visit: I ordered Loco Moco with hamburger but received pork. No worries, it was decent, and they were slammed (full parking lot). My partner had the Chicken Papaya salad that lady at the register recommended since she has a gluten allergy (not a preference) and had asked for recommendations. The lady gave a short "well off the top of my head" slightly rude response, which seemed odd, but we brushed it off. My partner absolutely loved the salad! So much so that we had to return! I also want to mention that the wait was reasonable and the restaurant was well kept and clean.
2nd Visit a few days later: I grabbed a Burrito at the Taco shop that shares the same building (excellent choice BTW). My partner got the Papaya salad at Hana Hou again and simply asked if there was anything that needed to be left off for it to be gluten-free, again because it's an allergy situation and she wanted to double check if it had to made differently since she specified GF prior. It's quite common for the GF option to have an ingredient substituted or left off. Since it's an allergy, we always specify that to make the restaurant aware so that it's prepared correctly. The same lady from before again seemed agitated and gave a snarky response about it being GF already. Like eating out with a food allergy isn't already tough enough. Being treated poorly for asking a simple food allergy related question is simply unacceptable. The parking lot was empty and we were the only ones at either restaurant.. so it's not like she was flustered during a busy rush or something.
Both times, we were kind, so the rudeness was one-sided for no apparent reason. We literally gave her the benefit of the doubt since it was busy the first time. We will not be making that mistake again.
I wasn't going to leave a review as I don't like to leave negative reviews on small businesses. However, after two similar negative experiences and seeing the negative reviews from others, the rude attitude appears to be common, which is honestly just unfortunate. Based on the numerous complaints of rudeness, along with the unprofessional responses to negative reviews, I suggest someone else deal with the customers and review responses. It'll be better for the customers and the business in my humble opinion.
2 out of 5 for the delicious Chicken Papaya Salad

Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon. They were very busy but Lindsay the bartender and Jimmy the host were amazing.
The food was excellent and they were able to accommodate a gluten free dairy free diet.
The drinks were pretty strong and delicious.
Was a busy, noisy, happy Mexican restaurant with surprisingly good food. Good menu selection and plenty of gluten free options. Decent Mexican food is hard to find in Hawaii, we will be back.
Experience a hidden gem with amazing authentic Mexican dishes, plenty of options for everyone, and a variety of flavorful margaritas.

Came here late in the afternoon. Was delighted. A lot of authentic Mexican food that is really well done. My wife is gluten free and I'm vegetarian and there were a ton of options for both of us that were clearly labeled.
Restaurant is relatively small tucked away in a retail area but service was good and the food was probably the 2nd best meal I had in Maui. My wife also loved her horchata and coffee
Had lunch here as a quick option before spending the day at the Polynesian Cultural Center. It's part of the market area before the entrance which has a few other options to check out.
The menu was labeled with what was vegetarian and gluten free so if you have those diets (which we did in our party) you go in knowing they are conscious of these things and you will be able to eat something.
I had the Veggie Burrito which was hearty and good...I generally prefer pinto or refried beans, but neither of those are vegetarian here so had it with black beans. I was quite filled when it was done done and thought this had a nice authentic flavor to it.
The person who took our order seemed awfully unhappy to be there which is not typical of Hawaii and bummed us out a little.
This is a good quick stop (well it was quick for us...a bit a line developed after we ordered) before heading into the center for the day. There's plenty of seating behind the truck too.
Wow! Incredible food the carna asada quesadilla's and the pork burrito's were next level! They also have a number of gluten free options and they are all delicious!

I have Celiac disease so I don't eat out much to make sure I don't get cross contaminated. I ordered the Ceasar salad with no croutons and made sure to tell the waiter I had Celiac so no gluten. I like good Ceasars dressing and I was surprised by how fresh their dressing tasted. I also had some coffee and it was delicious. The waiter was very busy but he made sure to make is a fresh pot of coffee and come back around for refills. I can add this Chili's to my list of places I feel safe eating at and that's always a good experience.

Food was fantastic. Initially disappointed the fish wasnt locally caught but the tacos were so good we got over it (and gluten free). Torta was a hit. Quesadilla was a little thin but ok. Would definitely go back.

Highly recommend. Truly the best fish taco. The fresh ahi was nuts. They catered so kindly to my gluten and dairy restrictions and it was delicious. Boyfriend had the fish burrito and it was filled and huge!!! Would definitely go back.

This is our fave place to watch football in Maui. Great atmosphere, great food and drinks. The Chicken Chingaderas are my husband's favorite dish. Lots of options for vegetarian and gluten free folks. Drinks are awesome. They have Taco Tuesdays, Fajita Wednesdays and Chili Relleno Thursdays right now and serve breakfast. This is generally our first and last stop every trip to Maui. Delish and great aloha vibes.

This food truck had delicious shrimp tacos with the best corn tortillas, two with chips was very filling! Solid gluten free option (there is cross contamination during cooking if you’re celiac just fyi), and friendly service. Their quesadillas looked delish too.
My husband is a celiac, so once we explained what gluten is and where it might be they helped us pick meals. Very authentic and huge portions. Great experience.

The Waterman Bar And Grill offers the best gluten-free and vegetarian burger. If I had to eat gluten-free and vegetarian burgers for the rest of my life, this would be it. Don’t miss it. The grill offers lunch from 11:00-6:00 PM overlooking the pool and lagoon. The grill offers a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy a full day of just doing nothing.

I was happy to find a Mexican restaurant that has Gluten free options. Waiters are very accommodating and knowledgeable about Celiac. I got tacos and they were good and tasty. I would recommend it for people with Celiac! I hope they have gluten free menu as well!
