I’ve eaten at dozens of Ethiopian restaurants. This place takes a while to bring the food but it is extremely fresh and tasty. The pistachio cake is amazing. The blue Nile lamb special and doro wot are solid. They offer the gluten free and non gluten free injera which is a solid win. Doro Wot perfectly made. The right proportions on everything. Will be back. A gem in Houston. My friend loved the cardamom and cinnamon Ethiopian tea.

My party and I had a wonderful experience, especially thanks to our server Brian. My boyfriend has a gluten allergy and trying to find a place with gluten-free options or people who are knowledgeable of a gluten-free diet is always a challenge. I told Brian ahead of time that our table had a gluten allergy and he told us to go ahead, select our options and he would see what he could do. We ordered an assortment of nigiri, three rolls, the ceviche, grilled shishito peppers, house made seaweed salad - all of which Brian made sure could be modified into a gluten-free version and were still so delicious! We were so pleasantly surprised to hear his expertise on the ingredients in each dish. I could tell how attentive he was being throughout the night as he brought us our dessert bowls before we had the chance to order, it felt like he was reading our minds. The kakigori and green tea soufflé cake were also gluten-free and were a lovely touch to end the night on. We’re still raving about the amazing experience today and it wouldn’t have been the same without him. Thank you so much! :)

Celebrated my in-law's 50th wedding anniversary last night and we chose MaKiin for their variety of gluten free and vegetarian options to meet our needs. They celebrated the couple with a custom sign board, champagne and ice cream. The service was great and the food was also really tasty with generous portions. The cotton candy chocolate tree desert was a big hit with my children. There was also live music while we were there.
