Went for the $30 Sirloin special on Wednesday nights, this is on the window as you enter, definitely my suggestion would be to put it on the website. Delicious medium cooked steak and I could taste the flames from the grill too. Matched well with a Cab Sav too. The pinnacle moment was when the amazing head waiter brought out a gluten free small birthday cake. Highly recommended, support local

The food was absolutely fantastic – but the service was even better! As someone with food allergies, I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. The waitress asked about any allergies already during the reservation and later pointed out exactly what I could safely eat from the menu. It's especially recommendable for people with celiac disease. A truly wonderful experience!

My boyfriend & I had a lovely dining experience here recently. Our waitress Hannah was so attentive to our dietary restrictions (Coeliac) and it was clear she genuinely cared. The same goes for the talented chefs in the kitchen, who were super patient and understanding and took the Coeliacs/gluten allergy very seriously. Thank you all for making this such a lovely date night for us! We’ll definitely be back.

Finally a Cafe that caters for allergies! Specifically for me, most of the menu could be catered as gluten free and I wasn't disappointed. The menu was varied, not just the normal Cafe staples which was so refreshing and the staff were lovely. A lovely lunch on my last day in New Zealand. Food was amazing! I wish I'd remembered to take some photos. The only let down was service was a little slow- as in getting drinks initially and then the tables weren't cleared at all...but the food came out quickly and I'd go back again simply for the food options! 4 of us are coeliac and there were so many dishes that were either gluten free or could be modified for us 😍

One of my go-to cafes with my partner – we’ve been here so many times and it never disappoints! The gluten-free bagel is absolutely delicious – great texture and flavour. But the highlight has to be the waffle fried chicken with honey sriracha syrup… sweet, spicy, crispy – just perfect. Everything looks as good as it tastes – definitely a great spot if you love taking food pics 📸 friendly service, and tasty food every time. Highly recommended!

My review is focusing on the set menu, but I was wanted to preface this by saying that this place is always nice, and always quite gluten-friendly. We came here for the set menu on New Years as a group of four and it was absolutely phenomenal. Unfortunately for us, though every item was delicious, the greatest hits were the items that aren't normally on the menu (I loooooved the beef tataki so much that we asked for more). No need to be scared or worried about there only being one option for the set menu, because every option was stunning. And I'm saying that as a relatively fussy eater. The staff were generally amazing, but something that stood out to me is how accommodating the staff were when it came to our celiac friend. In spite of it being a set menu, they managed to ensure that she had gluten-fres options, especially when it came to dessert and we finally got served our food separately. Would highly recommend for anyone that can't eat gluten, as we frequently come herd with that friend for the normal menu, as there are plenty of options to choose from. One thing to note about Mekong Baby is that it is more on the expensive side, but I wholeheartedly believe that it is worth it for the food and service.

Came in for a quick lunch. My partner ordered the fish and chips with mushy peas Gluten free and I had the pork tacos, beef brisket lollipops and the chips. Atmosphere was nice and chill. Quiet for a Saturday lunch time but there was a lot going on outside. Service was quick and easy. The server helped my partner who had a bee sting which was much appreciated. Food came out fast and was temperature hot. The chips were the best thick cut pub chips I’ve had in a while. Good amount of salt and perfect amount of aioli. The fish was cooked well and wasn’t dry. The brisket lollipops had great seasoning and flavours were sweet and fragrant. The corn tortillas on the tacos did fall apart more than I’d like but everything else for the taco was delicious. The salsa and mole were delicious with the pork. Haven’t had a bad meal at The Kestrel to date. Thanks team

What a little gem! They have a number of Gluten Free dishes, which attracted me to try them in the first place. Food was absolutely delicious, staff super friendly and service was quick. Plenty of parking at rear, off Moselle Ave. This will definitely now be my "go to" local cafe.

Thank you for your lovely service. I organised a team dinner for 19 here. From Chloe who I was texting to organise the event, to the staff on the night who were all smiles and patient even when I got confused with the bill at the end (totally me and my bad maths) and the efforts they made on a special vegetarian, non dairy, non gluten roast! Not to mention the beef roast they did for us mid week! And the great mocktails for those not drinking as well as a great selection of alcoholic options. All round made for a very lovely evening and some very full and happy people! Thank you!

Ok I’ve passed this place 1,000s of times but have never eaten here. Man I’ve been sleeping because it’s sooo delicious. I ordered the fried chicken poke bowl that was already gluten free, because I cannot pass up on gluten free fried chicken. UGH this was delicious. The sweet sauce they had on it, the half avo, the generous ginger, the chicken was crunchy. Could’ve had more rice, but overall, so delicious. We sat outside in the sun which was lovely, and sheltered from the wind. My daughter enjoyed the little playground down below. We also ordered fries on the side that were crunchy and delicious. Cabinet food also looked good - mainly sweet stuff and a lovely Carmel gluten free slice. But I was too full to order it. Would come again 10/10.

I’m coeliac, so I ordered a gluten free vege burger and fries (which are fried in a separate gluten free fryer). Big thanks to the team for taking the extra precautions to ensure it was safe for me to eat at Butger Burger Takapuna. I’ll be back!

We came for a team dinner. There were 7 of us. We highly rated the organic chicken and short rib. They were just delicious. One of our team members is a celiac and had a reaction from the chicken dish. Although she had specified that she was a celiac at the time of ordering, and asked the server delivering her meal to make sure, she was still "glutened". Unsure what went wrong there, but Giraffe may need to assess their processes when handling gluten.

Been there twice over the last few months, always great service and very delicious creative food options aswell as decent (iced) coffee. Also a good selection of delicious Gluten- free meals and desserts. I highly recommend trying their sweet Buckwheat waffles and the vanilla cheesecake. 👌 I also like their outside tables on the sidewalk beside a quiet street, at least on the weekends. I love this cafe! What I am most impressed by is their range of gluten free food available in the cabinet. Instead of the usual standard options - either a brownie or an orange cake, they have different slices and even a cheesecake on offer. Their coffee is also really good. The service was lovely and the interior and exterior is a nice all-round vibe. Love this little gem and always make a visit when I'm in Devonport.

What a surprising find, only due to a gluten free group. No idea this place existed. Awesome spot and the food was absolutely brilliant. You’d pay twice as much for half the food in the city and not get to look at cute little lambs in the field. The food was 10/10. If you haven’t gone. Go!

Incredible lunch, could not fault it. The food and service were the highlights for sure but the atmosphere and decor were great too. Every single dish we ordered was delicious, the Pacifica Ceviche was the highlight. The menu sounded really interesting and delicious and it lived up to those expectations. The menu was very clear on what was vegetarian, vegan, dairy free and gluten free. The service from the whole team was great, attentive and informative, especially from our main server Olivia. She was really friendly and professional but still felt like being served by a friend which is exactly what I enjoy about nz hospo. The level of service from each team member was fantastic and I wish them all the best over this crazy season

Today we dined at the Kind Cafe and it’s such a beautiful little cafe to go with your family. I have allergies and I often find there isn’t many options available for me but this place they have a lot of options for people with dietary requirements or who are Vegan/Vegetarian/Gluten free. Great food as always. Have been a fan of their Mt Eden store for many years but living on the Shore it was a bit of a drive. But Takapuna is perfect, great parking, super friendly staff and allergen knowledgeable. It's perfect if you're dining with people who are gluten free or dairy free or low carb (or another allergy) as they can easily customise the dishes. So many options and always delicious!
