The Root Cellar Cafe is a delightful restaurant in the heart of historic downtown San Marcos. Wonderfully decorated and featuring good, healthy comfort food, it is a popular downtown spot. We ordered the salmon and pasta carbonara. The exquisite salmon with balsamic glaze was served with pilaf, sautéed vegetables, and eggplant chips. The chips were sweet and my personal favorite. The pasta carbonara was also very good. A 16-oz beer was just $7 which was also very sweet. We ended with the gluten-free Tart and Snickerdoodle bread pudding. Absolutely delicious. I need to mention that the service was very good. Our server was a delight and very attentive. Highly recommend!
Expect a fantastic vibe with great prices and consistently good food that makes every occasion feel special.

Ok, first of all this place was delicious and food was hot and at our table very quickly. Our waiter got in a large party so other waiters/waitresses stopped by to check on us since he was very very busy at a table with 20+ people. It seemed like they genuinely cared about their customers. They provide a gluten free menu if you ask, too. But the thing that made this place go above and beyond was after I had gotten home, I realized I forgot my purse at the table. It was close to 10pm and I knew they’d be closing shortly so I called to ask if they had by chance found my purse. The manager (or one of the managers) told me he had it in his office. I told him I could get it some point tomorrow since I live in Buda and it would be closing time by the time I was able to get there. This man!! He offered to swing by my house and bring my purse to me. I was blown away, not expecting that at all. And while he dropped it off, HE BROUGHT ME A PIECE OF CHEESECAKE. Are you kidding me?? Talk about above and beyond. Next time I’m in San Marcos and need a bite to eat, I know where I’m going. Thank you so much. :)

Took one bite of my gluten-free Austin club and had to stare at the sandwich to see what magic pixie dust they used to make it taste so damn good. Couldn't discern what sorcery they used, so I continued to demolish the sandwich within the next 20-30 seconds.
In summary. Absolutely delicious and this place is now one of my favorite lunch-time restaurants.
Had to ask multiple times for more salsa for the endless chips and salsa. Was wtg on the salsa to eat with my fajitas as well and had to remind her twice so the food was getting cold while wtg. Staff is not knowledgeable about the menu either. Fajitas say gluten free on the menu but they came out with flour tortillas. I asked her for corn tortillas and she said they don't have any. I had to tell her it says there are corn tortillas online so then she checked.

Bailey was our server and made our first dining experience at this restaurant one to remember! Very attentive & friendly, extremely on point, and food came out perfect. I was very impressed by her & the meal & dessert. She is very good at what she does, enjoys it, and that shows! She even showed me the gluten free menu- They are lucky to have her.
I love this place. They make quality thai food that is the best in town and I leave there still feeling good and not like what I ate was coated in grease and oil, it's very fresh and made clean. I'm also vegan and gluten free and they cater to my needs every time and give me great service I can trust

I've been to this location many times, and I've never had anything that wasn't delicious. My family has various dietary needs (gluten, dairy, etc) and they can accommodate all of us. This morning, we had brunch for my son's birthday. Riley was wonderful. She was very attentive, made sure the food was safe for those that couldn't have gluten, and was incredibly nice. My son has autism, and she made a point of talking with him and engaging in his interests to make him feel special. :)
Stated gluten free buns and burgers. But nothing was gluten free. Only reason I went there. So no beuno, had people meet me here cause I thought I could eat there. And nope!

Delicious! Wide variety of options, including gluten free options. A little pricier than other places around San Marcos but the *quality* DEFINITELY reflects, this is real food. Love coming here. The quinoa salad is delicious as are the million dollar potatoes 🤩 10/10 would recommend

The flavors are really great, went there again today for lunch. Their portion size have gotten smaller and it's completely unnecessary, so small that I actuallywent to another restaurantto get a filling meal. It's veggies and a small amount of proteins for the bowl price, come on man, do better.
Plus they need to work on having a separate fryer so people with Gluten issues and have their fries.
It’s hard to find places that accommodate for gluten and meat free meals in town, but K-Bop was able to do so! It’s the first time in a while that I’ve had a meal with such diverse protein sources and full of flavor! The boba tea was also a nice treat!
