An invite from our friend @thetipjarnash took us to @sundanewasian for one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Nashville. Its name is a nod to the Southeast Asian continental shelf underlying the region inspiring the myriad of flavors highlighted by the array of cuisine from founder @billydec and executive chef @mike_sunda From Dim Sum to sushi rolls, main courses and “new Asian creations,” there is truly something on the menu for everyone. Also a huge thanks to Matt for his hospitality and attention. Thank you Sunda for a top-notch experience from food to service, start to finish. *Bibingka was an off-menu dessert item that you absolutely should ask for. If you happen to have a gluten sensitivity, bonus points that this cake is made with rice flour! In fact, many items on the menu are friendly to dairy, gluten and other allergies or sensitivities. Also of note, most of their cocktails can be served as mocktails without sacrificing any flavor so you can still drink decadently without imbibing!

My first visit was fantastic and I can't wait to return. Our server was amazing, attentive, and understanding. We had a question about a menu item and our server promptly went to the kitchen to get the answer. The steak, chicken, burger, and fries were all delicious and we finished everything. I was in from out of town and looking for something gluten free. I was able to get the stir fry noodles with a substitution for rice noodles. It was so delicious. At first I asked for a GF menu but the waitress said they didn’t have one and that she would be able to modify it. Gloria was our server and she was amazing! If you are GF I definitely suggest this place for noodles! And I got the Philadelphia roll as well, that was delicious!

So delicious! The reason the prices seem high is because the portions are HUGE! You get your money's worth. They have gluten free soy sauce, but there are limited gluten free options. DELISH!! Also, the boat noodles are GIANT! They gave us little rice and seaweed penguins! Will come again, for sure.

I’ve been coming here for 2+ years and while the ownership has recently changed, it’s still amazing. The new owners are long time friends of the previous owner, and they’ve worked together in the past. All of the recipes have been passed along with the sale and many favorites are still available. Initially the new menu didn’t catch my eye, but they listened to the feedback of their customers and added and denoted gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options on the menu. I ate here the first week under new ownership and had some hesitations, but it’s clear they were just getting things off the ground and 6 months later I can attest that it’s just as great as it was before. The new owner was so friendly and excited to hear our feedback and really cares about what customers have to say. That being said, my one request is to bring back Thet’s Noodles :) love this place!

We loved the name and location so decided to give it a try. We ordered the spring rolls to start. They were ok, but needed a little more flavor. The peanut dipping sauce was good. We both ordered sushi and it came out before our main entree, which was pad Thai for both of us. I had a crab cream cheese avocado roll and my husband had the dragon roll. Since I have celiac and am gluten free, I appreciated the sushi but again, needed was good - not out of this world. But when the pad Thai came, it was a different story. It was delicious. The presentation was nice, and the serving was huge. (I had dinner, lunch today, and dinner again tonight with the one pad Thai order). Service was exceptional. We were greeted, seated out on the patio because it was a beautiful day, and they checked on us often. The staff/owners were extremely knowledgeable about Celiac and gluten free requirements and had several suggestions. That makes a world of difference! All in all, it was a great meal and we will be back. Only had one pic because we dug in and forgot to take them.

We had a taste for sushi, decided on Punk Wok, and it was a very pleasant surprise! We called to see how busy they were (very), and they saved us a seat at the sushi bar. Service was great - they took food allergies (wheat) very seriously, which was very much appreciated. They have a gluten free eel sauce on some of the rolls and it was fantastic. We got 4 rolls, some nigiri, and a couple of cocktails and everything was excellent.

Literally the best service I’ve ever had in my life. Gordon went above and beyond to fix my Uber eats order which was not by any means the restaurants fault, but he hooked me up with everything gluten free and was sweeter than I could have ever asked for. Uber eats owes them a huge one. Thank you Gordon and team at Nama!!

The sushi here is average in terms of offerings and flavor. The all you can eat pricing is generous and the service is great! Gluten free soy sauce is available upon request BUT the rolls are not labeled as GF or not. The “spicy tuna” and “spicy salmon” have crumbled tempura mixed in and is not clearly labeled.

Had a great experience here. Very quiet on a weekday at lunch time. The waitstaff were very helpful and knowledgeable about gluten-free options. I got the Memphis Roll and Edamami. Both were great. They had gluten-free soy sauce available to eat with the sushi. There were lots of plants inside the restaurant- it was cute.

We stopped off to get gas on a long road trip and came across Kisoro and man are we glad we did. I have never seen so much food for the price you pay and it was so fricking delicious. I felt like I needed to be rolled out. Our server was Kristi, she was absolutely so busy, but still so attentive, she helped me with making sure I was getting a gluten free meal, answered all of our other questions. She made sure our drinks were never empty and was always friendly!

I hesitate to share this review and have this hidden gem inundated, but here goes. If you wanna have fresh excellent food, this is the place. Warm & inviting. Cozy, but i made it thru in a wheelchair. Hey gluten free folks, Mr & Mrs Lee have your back. Gluten free soy sauce. Only my 2nd foray in sushi, i loved the crunchy shrimp & Nashville roll. And don't skip the Miso ! Byob for a small fee. We closed the joint down & will be back again .

This has always been my go to for sushi in Knoxville. That said, there seems to have been a staff turnover recently and I am not impressed. I was charged an additional fee for an item listed on the menu that comes with the meal and told by a server that she couldn't remove the additional charge that came on my bill. I had to get a manager involved to assist. I was also told they were out of tamari (gluten free soy sauce) and then the manager found a full bottle in the back after I had finished my meal. Tighten up Nama or you will lose your loyal customers.

As a diner with Celiac, I have had a very difficult time finding gluten-free sushi in the Oak Ridge/Knoxville area. However, I Heart Sushi opened, and I called and asked if they had gluten-free sushi, and they did, so I thought I'd give them a try. Their sushi is amazing. They have gluten-free soy sauce, and all of their rolls are gluten-free, unless they have tempura in them. If the servers don't know about whether or not something is gluten-free, they check with the owner or a chef. The sushi was fresh and the rice and seaweed had a great flavor. I'll definitely be a regular at this restaurant.

Wonderful team working here. They were very helpful with navigating the menu for gluten free request. I loved how clean this restaurant is. Plus it was not noisy, it was comfortable and pleasant in every way.

Food is fresh and tastes good. I made a mistake on my bowl and couldn't eat what I was trying to decipher from the menu which is small print and at the front where you can't see. Due to Gluten issues I was having to look a few times to see what i could eat. There was no one else in there and he was rushing me to get my order and put the wrong thing on because I had no time to decide if I could have it or not I said what about the spicy tuna and instead of answering he slapped it in the bowl and I said I can't have that it has dairy because I had never been in there and I saw some other tuna that has no dairy but some marinade and was thinking it was the spicy. He immediately got visually angry with me. Like I mean if looks could kill. I immediately apologized. So the rest of my experience was overshadowed by the pure disdain the guy at the front had for me even though I apologized the whole time I was in there and instead of having a nice sit down lunch I rushed to my car to eat because I felt like I could have cried. The only saving grace was the sweet girl who helped me with the sauces and lmk what I could safely eat. The food definitely was fresh but not good enough for me to return to this location or any location really. Employees, owners or whatever position they have should never be outright angry with customers. I get the food cost but I literally said it's ok you can remove it and I will be OK with the bowl because I have allergies that aren't life threatening. But he extremely visually, body language and facial expressions, was overwhelmingly angry with me. So no thanks for emotional grief from a disgruntled employee or proprietor or whoever he was just for lunch. Never said another word to me. I just got out as soon as possible. I was quiet and tried hard not to cry getting the rest of my food. Out of pure hunger did I continue with the order and left asap
