Horrible experience! We waited over an hour for food after being told it would take 10–15 minutes, with no apology at all.
My partner has celiac disease and we were shocked to see they used the same equipment for all orders, just wiping it down with a cloth. We also noticed that they also mixed up a gluten-free order. This place is not safe for celiacs, despite what they say! Avoid if you need true gluten-free.

As someone with Celiac Disease, eating in restaurants while travelling can be tricky. Reykjavik Kitchen was exceptional in every definition of the word. Not only was the service great, the meal (beef tenderloin) was mouth watering. The menu is clearly indicated GF where applicable and they had many options. I plan on coming back here several times as they have a few other traditional items I would like to try, such as lamb and meat soup. And they had GF bread with the delicious butter.

Himalayan Spice is cozy and inviting with some of the best food and best service I've had in town. As a local, it's expensive to eat out so we when we do, we pick places where we know the food is fresh and delicious and where we will be well taken care of. That's why my group of friends all chose Himalayan Spice to have a dinner to kick off the holiday season.
The momo (house made dumplings) are always popular as a starter or a main course. This time I had chicken tika curry and it was as warm and rich as I had hoped it would be -- perfect for a wintry night!
We have a friend who is extremely sensitive to gluten and one nice thing is that she never has to worry when eating here -- you can let your server know about any food allergies or intolerances and they will take good care of you.
Highly recommend -- note there is an upstairs with good space to make big tables so larger groups are no problem. Be sure to book in advance!

Dinner was also very reasonable by Reykjavik standards. We split three small plates, had two glasses of the house wine, and were completely satisfied. We found ourselves here because two people in our group have celiac disease and needed safe gluten free options to eat. This was on our first night in Iceland, so we were tired and not being as careful as we should have in terms of checking pricing. Lovely food, very fresh and tasty. I advised I was gluten free and they talked through the menu which was also labelled. Provided some great gluten free bread when they brought over the bread basket for everyone else which I really appreciated. One of our party tried it and said they preferred it to the regular bread (which was also apparently really good). I would definitely return here when I next visit Reykjavik.
