We were in the area and looking for somewhere tasty to go for lunch, and after seeing the reviews, we decided we wanted to come to blackies!
Even though we were a walk in, they were able to accommodate us and accommodate us, they did.
Most of the menu can be made GF, and there are pages, upon pages to this menu. Not only did I enjoy my meal (I got the French Onion Cheesesteak with Fries and it was SUPERB đ¤đ˝), but my gluten eating family also had a meal. My Dad even said it was the BEST Ruben he's ever had (and he loves a ruben).
Since it was our first time there, our wonderful server was able to field all of my GF/Celiac-related questions with ease.
The restaurant is owned by two lovely women: one of whom has Celiac. They have dedicated fryers, AND they have separate kitchen tools (knives, utensils, cutting boards, aprons, etc.) for the preparation of GF meals. On top of all that, my food was brought out FIRST and SEPARATELY. Our server even brought out a new bottle of ketchup with my food so that there wasn't any CC.
I felt so well taken care of by the staff, and so safe while we were there, it was a new level of Celiac-care in this dining experience. I cannot more highly recommend blackies if you're ever in RI/Providence!!!
Located in downtown, this lively spot is perfect for a night out with a great drink selection and a creative twist on pretzels that impresses everyone.

Great (gluten free!) food, great atmosphere, and even better bartender! Maxâs service was 10/10 and he makes a killer aperol spritz. We will definitely be back!

This was the best dining experience I have had in a long time. Since being diagnosed with Celiac, it is really hard to enjoy eating out without fear of âbeing glutenedâ. After reading tons of reviews and the allergy safety protocols on their website, we decided to give this place a shot. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with nothing but assurance and the staff were so incredibly kind. There is a food safety coordinator certificate on the hostess stand that is also really impressive. On OpenTable you can say if youâre celebrating something at the time of your reservation, and while I have filled this out before, no restaurant has ever acknowledged it. I mentioned in my reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary and as soon as we walked in the Food Safety coordinator who I also think is the owner told us happy anniversary, followed by the woman who walked us to our table and our waitress. At the end of our meal we were gifted a surprise gluten free crème brĂťlĂŠe with a candle in it! It was just the most special night with the most incredible food. Everyone was so kind. I canât sing their praises enough.

Extremely good vegan and gluten free desserts. The Samoa oatbar is a 10/10 and if it ever disappears I'll likely not survive without it. Its so good, some weeks I get it multiples times! Very friendly customer service too.

My family went to Rhode Roots for the first time yesterday and were very impressed. A++ all around. My wife has celiac disease and finding gluten free safe restaurants with such an extensive menu can be challenging. We tried the clam cakes and chowder and and they were delicious. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. We canât wait to go back and try some other items on the menu.

I had an incredible lunch here yesterday! I was pretty nervous since I haven't had pizza from a restaurant since my Celiac Disease diagnosis 4.5 years ago, but our server John was fantastic. He answered all my questions, double checked things when I asked, and put me totally at ease. He reassured me they take allergens very seriously, including a separate prep area AND a separate oven for GF pizzas! I had a 1/2 pesto margherita and 1/2 chicken bacon ranch pizza, both sides were equally delicious.
Expect delicious, generously-portioned meals in a charming setting with a fun counter view, making the wait totally worth it!

The wine and dessert (cannoli) were great, but the entrees were pretty bad. We got the chicken milanese and it was some of the most overcooked chicken we have ever had. The gluten free pasta and sauce were mediocre at best. Not happy with the food, but service was nice and it was a pleasant environment. The water had a very bad after taste also, would not drink.
This spot delivers a contemporary vibe and a great selection of dishes, making it a lively choice for any occasion or day out.

Delicious food, excellent service and wonderful gluten free selections, especially the gluten free chicken soup. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous. Danâs Place is a nice family restaurant. They can accommodate large parties and I have to give them 5 stars all around. We have never had a bad meal at Danâs Place.

Iâve come to Plant City several times- but my most recent experience was just incredible and has prompted me to write a review. I got the T-BLAT (blt with shiitake mushroom bacon) on gluten free bread and my, my it was DIVINE! The bread was so good for being gluten free and the filling was decadent, nicely filled with lettuce, and a nice balance of spice, saltiness and creaminess from the chipotle mayo and avocado. I highly recommend. They also have a wide variety of hot/iced drinks, as well as a to go food counter with food like sushi and noodles, and many gluten free pastries. I also really love their grocery section with many high quality plant based foods and other snacks. The cafe itself is also just very relaxing and nice with lots of natural light and comfortable seating. I LOVE plant city!

I wish I had known that their gluten free options were not the same as their on the menu options. I had heard the restaurant had a separate frier for gluten free orders and was so excited to try a new seafood spot, however the fried cod reuben I received was a cold batterless cod salad. The tarter sauce was more like a thin mayonnaise which soaked through the bread making it impossible to take out of the container. Beautiful establishment and friendly staff, but misleading info online led to an overall unpleasant experience.
With a mix of laid-back vibes and comfy outdoor seating, this spot offers huge portions and tasty dishes that impress everyone.

Apponaug is a fantastic Rhode Island brewery. Typical (but beautiful) industrial/converted mill aesthetic, great food (including gluten free options for my wife), and a wide variety of beer styles. They generally have a strong German lineup (Kolsch, pils, schwartzbier, Vienna) alongside more modern styles (ipa, NEIPA, Mexican lager). Services is always friendly , and the outdoor space is amazing when it's not raining.
This spot impresses with an extensive menu and a vibrant atmosphere, ensuring a memorable dining experience that keeps guests coming back.

Nearly all items on the extensive menu can be made gluten free. I had fish and chips! Which was excellent. The fish was so fresh and tender, the chips were chip/French fries. I also got a little loaf of gluten free bread! Also amazing with the cinnamon maple butter. And if you are so fortunate enough to have the server Julianne, your whole experience will be made better. You will leave feeling happier and know she truly cared about your food and dining experience. Her knowledge about gluten free food, caring attitude and willingness to go above and beyond should well be noted. I love, love love everything about this restaurant and can't wait to go back, and hope that Julianne will be working. A++++

Delectable Thai restaurant with tasty fare. Great awareness of different options for customers with allergies, including gluten, dairy, and egg allergies. The only thing I wished for was a bit more zing, acidity, spicy, and overall vivacity in the flavours to make it a tiny tad more authentic. Although the flavours incredibly refined and clean.

Definitely one of the top places on BI
FOOD - the food is great and especially good breakfast place. Well known for their very cool toast varieties. Ciabatta, sourdough are really good. Bakery items are excellent, everyday is different pastries muffins and things and they are really good.
MENU - this is an excellent menu that has a lot of variety for drinks and food. You can get smoothie or bowls, toast, coffee, sandwiches. Very good with Customizations. A lot of VEGAN / GLUTEN FREE options.
SERVICE - the service here is amazing. They do get busy but if you see a line donât be worried because it moves fast. They are very friendly and helpful. They take great caution with allergies. Tomaso is absolutely great!!
ATMOSPHERE/LOCATION - definitely has that LOCAL VIBE but also are up to date on trends off the island. Outside seating very cool area and some lounge style seating as well. I will say itâs a little tight at times because they are busy. Parking can be tricky.
Expect a trendy spot with a diverse menu, great atmosphere, and long waits that might test your patience.

Iâve probably been here about 5 times so far, where Iâve had food twice, and came for the bar once.
This is a vegan place, and is a must to visit for people with allergies/intolerances with a wide menu of gluten free items. I came with a person with gluten intolerance and Iâm lactose intolerance and it was nice to not have to choose items super carefully.
Itâs very refreshing to have a place in the neighborhood thatâs got a wonderful cafe vibe and transforms into a bar at night. They have wonderful speciality cafe drinks as well as alcoholic drinks at night.
As a bonus, they support local artists in the area. They have a little section of the store with greenery items and one with candles, earrings, and other misc goods from artists.

RUDE & UNAWARE! *CELIACS: Please take caution at this establishment!* This place advertises as gluten free but is only partially gluten free and the staff, in our experience, does NOT understand proper allergy-safe protocol. My wife (who has Celiac) and I went in for GF pastries. We ordered the GF zeppoles and then I pointed at the âGluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookiesâ right in the front of the case and ordered a chocolate chip cookie for my wife. The person serving us grabbed a chocolate chip cookie (with gluten, not gluten-free) from the back corner of the display area where there was a little sign that read âChocolate Chip Cookiesâ totally obstructed from view and put it in the box with the zeppoles. My wife very politely asked if the everything was gluten free to double check and the person very coldly said âoh, uh, no just the zeppoles⌠did you want gluten free?â. Thank god my wife asked because we were under the impression going in that everything was gluten free based on their involvement with the gluten free fest last March and this upcoming weekend, as well as their general advertising. The person then said âis it a problem that the cookie touched the zeppoles?â My wife once again very politely said âIâm sorry yes I have celiac disease so I canât have the zeppoles if it touched.â The other person behind the counter took the box and rudely said âwell I guess weâll save this for someone who can eat it.â As a bakery that âcelebratesâ themselves for understanding allergy protocols and offering allergen friendly options, they sure donât seem to show it.
Often praised for being quick, easy, and boasting a reward program, this spot also offers take-out and curbside pickup options!

I love Jersey Mike's and the fact that they offer gluten free bread. I have been to several different locations . What I didn't love on my last visit to this one was , when asked if it was a preference or allergy as soon as I said allergy the girl litteraly rolled her eyes at me ! I was so taken back I was in shock .The fact I was in a hurry kept me from speaking out as to what the problem was . There was no person in front of me and one person behind me , it wasn't a busy long line waiting .I shouldn't have to feel bad about ordering gluten free bread at an establishment that offers it ! Add to the fact she didn't follow thier own protocal and use the reserved slicer and also wiped down the counter leaving crumbs behind everywhere.

Folks who deliver through a service need to stop blaming Francescoâs for the temperature of the pizza. They are not responsible for the timing of deliveriesâthe app you choose makes that determination. Now, that being said, this is a real family owned Italian American corner pizza place just like youâd find in NYC or Brooklyn. Mom, son, wife, they all take part. The pizza sauce is homemade, tangy and bright like a New York slice with a thin crisp crust that has a nice crusty bread taste. YESâthey have vegan cheese! YESâthey have gluten free pizza. I suggest stopping in for a sliceâno tables inside but there are benches on the sidewalk. Otherwise order a pizza to go and pick it up yourself, and say hi to the folks who work there. Small businesses like this are one of the last places we can really build a sense of community and supportâa place like this has honest prices and good food (I have to try the homemade meatballs!) and is worthy of the community gathering around to support them! Our family has numerous food allergies, including peanuts, gluten, and egg. We also have several members with corn allergies. Corn is in nearly everything. For years, we couldnât get many grains because they were processed on the same equipment as corn, even if they didnât contain it. When I discovered Gerbs, I was not expecting to love their products as much as I do. Now, we order from them 2â3 times a month. I am able to make bread, muffins, and pancakes with ingredients we get from them. Many take these foods for granted, but in a home with numerous food allergies, these werenât normal foods for us. Now, we enjoy pancakes on the weekends and homemade bread regularly. Not only has it added a comforting element to our meals, but itâs become a fun family tradition to bake bread together. I tell every food allergy person I know to purchase from Gerbs.

Worst restaurant experience ever! Do not go here! I have celiac and I ordered a meal off the item that was shown as gluten free on the menu after I told the waitress that I was gluten free, and it turns out that it wasnât! I ate some of the meal, and something didnât seem right to me. I asked the waitress (who finally came back after at least 20 mins, and there was only one other table seated in the entire restaurant) to verify if it was indeed gluten free, she said that she âthinksâ it is. She went back to the kitchen to check and then a gentleman came out (assuming the manager?) and informed me that it was not made as gluten free. He said the menu has it listed that way because it can be made gluten free upon request. That is NOT how it is written on the menu, PLUS I did inform her when ordering the food that I cannot have anything with gluten. I was beyond livid. They did not even offer to comp my meal and I was sick to my stomach after eating the small portion of my meal. Fix your menu!!!!!
