Upon entering for dinner my party of four were immediately greeted and sat. The lighting was dim, there was still some Christmas decor up. There were families and couples. The staff were neatly dressed to match and very kind and attentive.
Our drinks came immediately. There were Thai Iced Teas everywhere but I opted for a hot green tea.
I saw the Esarn Classic had a meat choice of “Crying Tiger” (marinated steak) which I always get at any Thai place that offers it. It’s my favorite. But I also love duck. Both dishes are more common at restaurants in SoCal than places in Washington state so I have to take advantage. Someone in my party got the Crying Tiger which I tried and recommend. I added a photo of that dish as well.
I ordered the “Duck Three Ways” which I couldn’t find on the online menu to add to this review, unfortunately. But it was divine. It is a gluten free dish that comes with three sauces: a spicy lemon-grass, sweet chili, and tamarind. They were all so flavorful and amazing. The duck was on the bone but abundantly meaty. The skin was crispy and salty while the inside was slightly tough but juicy. The vegetables were bright and added great color and texture. Each sauce complimented the duck so well. The spicy lemongrass (see photo top left) was my favorite. I loaded the pulp on and could put that on pork, steak, chicken, or fish; anything. The sweet chili (top middle) was made in house similar to the bottled but the flavor was more intense the sauce was also less dense and gelatinous which I preferred. The tamarind reminded me of the plum sauce I would normally get with duck just more tang and less floral. It was slightly sweet and what I would compare more to a variation of hoisin. If it had more garlic I might have taken it home with me. But I actually enjoyed it more with the vegetables.
Aside from parking, my experience was definitely satisfying and complete.
I recommend this place.

Excellent vegan fast food, many gluten-free options and a knowledgeable staff. Dedicated fryer for gluten-free food items for my celiac baddies. Gluten-free bun tastes gluten free, but that's what you get.
A fantastic breakfast spot known for unique options and mouthwatering dishes that leave everyone impressed and satisfied.

This is a nice place to go for breakfast. I love the atmosphere! I'm gluten-free, and they have quite a few options. I ordered shrimp and grits, and it was very good. They did a little bit of their own take on the dish, adding in some corn on top, which I could have done without, but it was very tasty. My husband had pancakes, which were good. You do have to pay extra for syrup. They put powdered sugar on the pancakes. My husband ordered the pancakes without the powdered sugar, but it came with it anyway. Our waitress Kassi was very attentive and gave us the perfect amount of attention. It's an uplifting atmosphere. A great way to start the morning!

Food was delicious and service first rate. One of our party has celiac disease. They handled this easily with their gluten free menu. Can't wait to go back!
Revel in the majestic view of San Diego from here - it's a must-see! The drinks, especially margaritas, have quite a reputation too.

This place is a vibe. The music caters well to all age. Expansive views and delicious meals, this restaurant encapsulates the best parts of San Diego. Usually a restaurant with this tier of views ends up sacrificing the quality of its food, but Coasterra does not. Having Celiac, I often fear eating out bc of gluten exposure. However Erika B was our server and she saved me from ordering an item that WAS MARKED GF! She knew how it was made and advised against ordering and suggested another dish that was delicious. Girl knows what’s up and also made the experience extra special. Highly recommend this spot and hopefully you have the pleasure of dining with Erika as your server!
This is a community favorite. The cafe upstairs is all vegan options so it’s a convenient choice for most diet restrictions. They sometimes are hit and miss on gluten free options if that is you goal.

Nice Ramen place in the heart of Ocean Beach on Newport Avenue. I recommend getting any one of the bowls and then adding a couple extra toppings. The seaweed is wonderful and you can substitute the noodles so that they are gluten free. The ambience and decor are nice.
