Amazing food! Lovely place to visit, and the staff are really nice. We had a super grumpy toddler upon arrival and they gave him crayons and a picture to colour to try and cheer him up. Our other son has Coeliac Disease and we searched for GF in Newcastle which is how we came across them and SO glad we did. If we ever come back to Newcastle we will definitely visit this lovely place again. Highly recommend, thank you

Went for tea after receiving a £15 birthday gift card from the restaurant group. Was a lovely evening, gluten free pizza and fries. Chocolate brownie with ice cream for dessert. Very nice.

Great little spot for breakfast/lunch. We popped in on our walk along Hadrian's Wall for tea and pancakes. They were gluten free!

WOW, the food was so good, we originally started out planning to have two courses but couldn’t resist a third. Their homemade gluten free bread was the best bread I’ve had since being diagnosed coeliac. The staff took my allergies extremely seriously and made us feel very welcome. I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough, it was mind blowing.

Food was delicious. First time my partner and I have visited the restaurant and certainly will be coming back. Service was great, Shruthi was very helpful as I have an intolerance to gluten and was advised on best options. The gluten free menu was excellent.

We had a lovely time at City Tavern. We had a yummy lunch, including gluten free beer on tap. Lots of gluten free and vegetarian food options available. The vibe inside was lovely and the staff were really really nice and very attentive!! There was free wifi, free charging ports and very comfy chairs. An added bonus is that they show movies for free at 2pm, 5pm and 8pm everyday on their giant outdoor screen!! Such a great vibe, definitely recommend as a stop in during a day in Newcastle.

Loved it. The restaurant us in quite an amazing space. No idea what the building used to be, but was and indeed still is very impressive. I'll be investigating the history of the building in due course. The staff were great. Friendly, attentive but not overly so. The food was delicious. The ability to choose between 3 types of pasta (4 if you include gluten free) was refreshing. The option of spaghetti only with certain dishes puts me off choosing them ordinarily. So Pasta Roma with penne it was. 2 pasta dishes, 250ml wine, 2 pints of Peroni, 1 cappuccino, 2 desserts a touch under £65.

Lovely pizza restaurant. Plenty of gluten and dairy free options. Knowledgeable staff. Could of done with more staff on when we went as it took a while to get attention once our pizzas were finished and we wanted pudding. Lovely vibe to the place.

Found this on the GFme app. Is only a couple of miles from my house but had no idea it was there. My son is a Coeliac and had NEVER had Chinese food (he's 18!) before so was quite a treat to see such an impressive selection of meals that were either GF of could be adapted to GF. We ordered a fair selection if food so he could try a few things and it was a big hit. So THANK YOU to the owners for making the effort and we will be sure to let as many people as possible on various gluten free platforms that you can offer this service.

We came for the Sunday feast as a group of 6 for a birthday. It was excellent value for money and we all really enjoyed the food. There was good gluten free options too, and careful attention to any allergies. The service was also friendly and attentive. The menu was slightly different in person to the one on the website, though very similar. We have visited before in restaurant week and would definitely recommend Dakwala

Well it is pizza express, just one of those chains going through the daily monotomy of making pizza. The best part ... the food was paid for by Tesco Clubcard Vouchers on a 2:1 basis. So just £23 pounds spent on two pizzas and a sharing platter. As can be seen from the sharing platter, a lot of food for three people. Everything stored and reproduced for the masses at minimal cost. Definitely no love here. There was enough cheese to redistribute to the local community. The bread was crispy to the extent I did not know whether to use a gum sheild to stop my gums from being lacerated or take it to the local radio station for acoustic effects, for breaking glass. Now the gluten free base .... recipe not right cooking very poor. See photo. Very very thin, brown and hard and dry and hard and just rock hard. The centre was cooked for the first nanometre and raw dough on top. Take a look at the Classia Pollo Italiano, just raw dough above a wafer thin cooked layer. With the ingredients on top looking like the night before's take away. Come on Pizza Express you are better than this. Put some love back in your food. Customer services asked us for more details, which I supplied. Thank you, we look forward to redeeming our vouchers and our next visit 🤞.

We had lunch there today on the recommendation of our daughter who had been there the previous week with some friends from University. She has celiacs and the gluten-free options are really good. We were there at lunch time so we had the lunch time special which was 16 lb per head and that was a starter and a main course. The starters were fantastic. I had the pakora chicken which was beautiful tender chicken and this gorgeous spicy nutty texture and my wife. She had the samosa with the lentils and the beans and it was amazing. She could quite happily have that from main course and be satisfied after the starters we had. Butter chicken curry, one lamb Rogan Josh and one chicken murgh. The dish also came with a free serving of the creamy lentils for the table which were amazing. We also had a portion of naan bread which was crisp and tasty and really fresh. The staff were very attentive. The atmosphere was good cuz we could hear ourselves talk. The bathrooms are very clean and tidy as well and we will definitely be back soon.

Really lovely little place. Good gluten free options. Most sandwiches with GF bread. Even the tater tots can be GF and were delicious! My sister got the Mediterranean flatbread which looked amazing and I had a cheese and onion toastie which was very nice. Coffees were great. They were accommodating of us having a baby in a pram. Table service was a bonus as the counter area is small. We didn’t have any cakes but they looked lovely and were a few GF options too.

I had a gluten free burger and my friend had a taco dish both were really nice and tasty. The service was good and out waitress had a good knowledge of gluten-free dishes. The atmosphere was nice, we had a table in the corner at the back which was nice and private. We had a nice time and would recommend it.

Happened upon this gorgeous restaurant by accident when a the cafe we wanted to visit was closed...and the food is the best I've had in years. Ate myself silly and would absolutely come back again if I lived any closer! Excellent for gluten free and some of the best choice I've had in a long time. I had the Dhansak and couldn't help but get a side of fish fritters. Even the poppadoms were gluten free!

Jesmond Dene House Saved Our Wedding – The Best Day of My Life! We had our wedding at Jesmond Dene House on 10 May 2025, and it was truly the best day of my life. After a heartbreaking experience with another venue cancelling just 8 weeks before our wedding, we were devastated. But Jesmond Dene House stepped in and completely turned everything around—they quite literally saved our day. From the moment we got in touch, the team was incredible. A special thank you to Hannah, our amazing event planner, who was supportive, encouraging, and so genuinely invested in making our day perfect. She guided us through every step with such warmth and professionalism, and by the end, she felt like a true friend. The venue itself is stunning, but it’s the people who make it exceptional. The entire team went above and beyond to make everything feel personal and seamless. There were a few small hiccups on the day (as there always are!), but the staff handled everything so calmly and quietly that we barely noticed (and our guests did not at all!). Nothing was too much trouble, and their calm, caring presence made all the difference. The food was absolutely outstanding—elegant, delicious, and beautifully presented. What made it even more special was that the entire menu was tailored to be 100% gluten free and coeliac-friendly for all our guests. That level of care and attention meant the world to us. From start to finish, Jesmond Dene House made us feel so looked after. The love, joy, and magic of the day will stay with us forever. We are endlessly grateful to the whole team for making our wedding so unforgettable.
