Thank you SO MUCH for all the gluten free options. Amazing service. Place could do a masterclass on poached eggs (my grandmother would have been very impressed)
An okay diner it feels kinda tight and is loud but the fact it's gluten friendly is a big plus and on top of that the food tastes absolutely amazing, which is hard without gluten. Coffee was not fun and it was super busy. Overall it's a cute place every once in awhile, though I don't think you'd want to make it a regular spot.
Fantastic little diner on the east side of Airdrie, tucked into a strip mall... easy to find with plenty of parking nearby.
Went for Sunday brunch and weren't disappointed. One of our party is celiac and requires a gluten free menu, Abe's features many GF options, the veggie scramble was amazing. The rest of us enjoyed burgers and a chorizo Benny. Good if not great service so we will be back. Especially for the gluten free pancakes!
Great little burger Shack. Flavor is excellent, and gluten free options are good. The beef is fresh, but patties are thin. Atmosphere gets a 4 star only because it's small, limited seating.
**WARNING - Long Review**
To start off, I, being a forgiving imperfect human myself, have eaten at many different establishments. Whether it be “high class” or “whole in the wall” types of places. I’ve worked in the foods & service industry for many years. Only reason why I gave this a two stars, is for the fact that I am showing compassion to our server, who seemed to be either inexperienced or very overwhelmed.
I was not aware of where our dinner reservations were going to be (definitely was not dressed to impress, and don’t tend to really dress to show my status anyway. My skin colour tends to do that for me before I even have a chance to speak, to show those who make judgements/presumptions otherwise… ~ would dressing prettier or more put together made a difference to how everything transpired… highly unlikely!)
When I walked up and saw the sign, I was excited to experience what all the hubbub was about. Our group walked in and we were in very happy spirits, very excited to be uniting to celebrate my sister-in-laws 70th spin around the sun.
We were greeted by a person that didn’t seem too impressed with the volume of our joy and promptly asked us if we had a reservation. It took him a few seconds to find the name and then directed us to follow towards our table. Reservation was for ten people. Set very nicely, in the middle of the room. We were respectful with timing and were not late for our reservation either… we arrived at approximately 6:20pm, the reservation was for 6:30pm.
As we all settled and found our seats, we all noticed that our server wasn’t present. (Which we all agreed was a fair bit odd, as we are all accustomed to have someone either offer to bring water for the entire table, promptly after being seated, or offer a moment to decide on drinks. After about 5 minutes the server finally took the order. Not sure why it took 10 to 15 minutes for the bartender to pour five or six glasses of wine into the mini carafes, along with preparing a couple of glasses of draft, and pouring ginger ale into a glass, but even the water hadn’t been brought to the table yet.
At this point, it was not busy. There were about 8 tables with customers already seated, and possibly had given their order. Can’t say for sure…
After there were a few mixups with which wine belonged to whom and a glass of wine, with what seemed like, to be missing for a good 20 minutes, we were finally able to put our meal orders in. At this point we’d been sitting for just over 30 minutes…
At about 7:15pm (give or take, it may have been later) the server brings a few plates of a sliced baguette with a creamy cucumber butter. For those who could eat it, it went down fairly quick, all voracious by that point, thinking we would be close to finally seeing the light of our meals. Sadly, we were all sorely mistaken. (Personally, I have a severe gluten/dairy intolerance and was not able to enjoy the bread and butter).
One good thing out of all that waiting, our server was able to replenish our water & beverages, when she wasn’t too busy.
At about 7:48pm, still no meals. My husband, sadly, cannot eat after a certain time and he had to ask for his meal to be cancelled. The server seemed a little indignant as to why he was cancelling the order (as some of our group also wanted to do, including myself) and I found it quite ignorant that she would respond in such a way and make it sound like it was inconsiderate of HIM to even make such a request.
It was after 8pm when we finally received our food! Over an hour wait!
When the food finally arrived, the GF/DF seafood **Penne** (there is not a GF Tagliatelle option, and had we known that, we wouldn’t have ordered it), other plates arrived lukewarm also. My sister-in-law and I both sent our plates to get properly heated. It had three cherry tomatoes cut in half, shrimp was tough and the DF sauce was a watery/oily mess at the bottom of the plate. The dish had a kick to it, but no actual flavour. There was zero compensation for the long delay or poor quality of the meal. Would not recommend!!
This is a cute little cafe and the staff are so nice.
The food is great, hash browns a little undercooked.
Gluten free options!!! And I mean options not a few select foods! My mother is celiac and hasn’t had a gluten free pancake in anywhere but home for years, she was so excited and absolutely cleaned her plate!! She cannot stop telling people about that pancake and how good it was. For people to not have access to safe foods in so many restaurants is sad, but this cafe goes above and beyond for gluten free food! 10/10 recommend you try this cafe, even if you don’t have any food aversions.

Food was great, they had gluten free fries and the best gluten free bun ive ever had in my life. Been celiac for over a decade and yeah, this was it. Highly recommend!
Wonderful food and service. Salvo served us and we were happy to hear he was from Italy as well. We were celebrating a birthday for a celiac and they had a signed card at the table. Also provided a gluten free dessert. Highly recommended for celiacs and meat lovers. The lamb and pineapple was the best!
I love that they have gluten-free options (jumbo waffles and more!). Breakfast is always good. Eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly, and having gf waffles was a huge treat.
Service was prompt and she was very friendly.
From the moment you set foot into this glorious, vintage 50s/60s diner, you are transported into a warm, cozy, and casual atmosphere that generates an outer worldly experience. Whoever is behind the counter receives you with genuine small town service with a smile like you are an old acquaintance. The tantalyzing aromas of homemade fare, including the best french fries anywhere, delectable homemade pies, and 'real' milkshakes, on a menu that caters to gluten free visitors, is worth a stop just off the Q.E. II in Bowden. If you do, you will become a repeat customer!

Lots of gluten free options. He took time to explain what I could and couldn't have, very helpful and knowdgeable. When you deal with something like Celiac, you really appreciate a place where they make an effort to look after you. Thank you!
Sophie was immaculate thanks very much for adhering to my food allergy requests of no dairy and gluten!!! Had a great night, great drinks. Kitchen staff was laid back, very cool vibe.
Do not eat here if you are Celiac:: Cross contamination ; very sick shortly after consuming omelette shredded hashbrowns and tomato’s: plus; watched waitress wipe table then seat then back to table🤢: Gross : Will not eat here again
Emily was incredibly kind and attentive! She made sure my food was completely safe for my celiac disease and double-checked everything with care. I really appreciated her support and attention to detail.
I really like this place, delicious food and wide range of dishes. I tried sandwiches, cesar salad and mac and cheese, all of these were tasty and fresh. One more benefit is the fact that you can order gluten-free options.
I ordered takeout. I’ve done this often, as it was normally an okay spot for me to order food off of the GF menu.
This last time was very different. There is no way my food was prepared in a gluten free manner. I haven’t been that sick in a very long time. I haven’t ever had an issue at this location before so this was very unexpected.
I reached out to the location via their internal portal and got no reply. So I don’t think I’ll consider them a trusted spot to eat anymore.
Very disappointed with the experience.
The gentleman who served us (I forgot to get his name!) was really lovely and very helpful, food really fresh and tasty - lots of gluten free options too which was a huge bonus! We’ll definitely be back :)
As someone like me with celiac disease it’s not easy going out to eat. This is another place I trust. The server we had was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and what was safe to eat. She was explaining how her 11 year daughter also is celiac and we gave her plenty of recommendations on food that’s safe for her little one. Definitely give this place a try! Food is fantastic every time along with friendly staff. I’ve never had a bad experience here!!
My experience at the place was amazing.
Staff Miss Yashica and Vivek was very friendly and attentive. My husband and I were greeted with the smile when we entered the place.
I am bit fussy with my choices of food, they patiently made my bowl with extra veggies and less sauce.
Food-
Veggies were freshly cut and they looked clean.
Food was served hot.
Great options was available like
Gluten Free, lactose free and halal food.
Ambiance -
Place was neat and presentable.
Washroom was clean with all the essentials.
Place was warm so you could eat your meal in comfort.
Staff was professional and very vigilant to attend guest.
They changed their gloves each time before making next order.
Place like this need a big shout out as it’s not only the food but how you were treated with the staff makes the difference.
Thankyou Miss yashica and Vivek for giving us exceptional service… you guys standout 🙌
Had the gluten free waffle and bacon and both were great. The waffle was an especially nice treat and was crunchy and soft and flavourful. I forgot to ask if the buckwheat pancakes were gluten-free but they looked good, maybe I'll try them next time.
Always such amazing food. Really good portions. Love the space. Can't go wrong here. I love their eggs Benny, their burgers and their Chinese food. Good gluten free options as well
Always soo good! Love that they have a gluten free wrap for the burritos, and extra precautions are always taken when I mention gluten free! Every location I've been to across AB and BC the staff are super friendly, and the places are always really clean.
I recently visited the Barburrito in Shawnessy and had a great experience, especially thanks to Amish. I’m gluten sensitive, and he went out of his way to make sure my falafel burrito was completely gluten-friendly. He carefully picked fresh veggies from inside the veg boxes and made sure to change his gloves each time to avoid any cross-contamination.
The place was clean, had a nice dine-in atmosphere, and I really appreciated the attention to detail. If you’re looking for gluten-free options, I highly recommend asking for Amish—he truly cares about customer needs. Great service and tasty food!
A very special thank you to Sam for her service today during the dinner rush. I have eaten here many times for lunch as I work nearby, but Sam is the first employee ever to pull fresh containers of veggies from the fridge to ensure zero cross contamination in my meal when I mention I had Celiac disease! This may seem so simple to some, but to a Celiac, it is HUGE! Eating out can be distressing and the extra care Sam took today really made my day! Thank you Sam!!
If when placing your order, you have the option to mark as an allergen (gluten) on the specific entree, maybe don’t just write on the top “not gluten free” for your customer to see once it’s been delivered. Hard to eat when you have an allergy…
Overall, it's a great place to eat in Banff. Friendly staff, great food, gluten-free options and affordable prices. The only thing that disappointed us was the salmon. We paid $30 and got a kid-size meal with one tiny piece of salmon tail!
I have to work in the neighborhood for the next 5 months and I'm so grateful for this little restaurant to be so close by.
They have so many options if you are gluten and dairy free and food items are modifiable which means I can have a great meal.
I've had a few sandwiches, the coffee, a latte and their London Fog. All have been very good.
Can't wait to dine in one day. Thanks so much for having options and friendly staff!
I ordered for delivery and was happy to see a nice and informative note. As someone with a gluten allergy, I truly appreciate that they went the extra mile. Thank you!
Gurleen makes the best burritos ever. This location is amazing. Their quality of food is superb and the taste is impeccable. I've been to other locations which deterred me from going to this one but I did and now I go several times per week. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable when it comes to allergens like celiac/gluten free. I am always impressed by the level of service here. Thanks Gurleen for making amazing burritos every time. Your consistency is fantastic 👏 👌
