I can't have gluten or dairy anymore and it was a big change, haven't eaten much because I'm picky and have lost so much weight. I decided to try this place and it was phenomenal! I didn't even know this kind of food could taste this good!! I was actually able to feel satisfied after eating which doesn't happen anymore. I cried, I literally cried in the middle of eating! Thanks for the delicious food and for caring about people who have to deal with this!!
If you are looking for a good brunch spot I give this place 2 thumbs up! I had a Bloody Mary which was served with a skewer of meat cheese & an olive. The drink itself wasn't too spicy but could of had a bit more vodka in it!
I ordered the breakfast BLT which was delish. I was able to get vegan cheese on it since it was available upon request. They so have a decent about of dietary options including vegan, vegetarian & gluten free. Make sure to let the waiter/waitress know. Our group all ordered something different which was nice to see it was all enjoyed.
Went for a family dinner this past Saturday. Service was great. We made reservations and we were sat immediately even tho it was packed. Our waitress was awesome. I have Celiac disease and felt totally comfortable and safe eating there and having to be gluten free. I want to give 5 stars instead of 4 but I just can’t because of the food. It really just wasn’t very good. I got a vegetable and rice dish with chicken that was lacking flavor majorly. Our appetizer was the “spicy” pimento dip that was hard and not spicy. It just didn’t fair well. My mom got shrimp pasta and said it was underwhelming. Daughter got chicken fingers and said the same thing . I’m going to go back and try again, maybe it’ll be better next time. I really want to like it since the rest of the experience was so good.

My wife and I will be making this a goto when we are in Columbus, which is several times a year. We were here for the weekend and had dinner on Friday. It was soo good and the atmosphere is relaxing, we went back for lunch on Sunday before heading back home. The smoked salmon is amazing, and the wife dreams about the gluten-free fish and chips. I wish we had a Pearl in Cleveland!!
How the mighty have fallen. They ruined our Mother’s Day dinner by serving a clearly medium rare burger when my wife wanted a medium. We sent it back but not before the waiter comes back with the food and tell us “this is our medium here”…the middle was cool in the! We thought it would be 5-10 minutes max for the new burger . 30 minutes later and with everyone else done with their dinner the burger still isn’t out! They offer to comp the meal and give us a free gluten free dessert… however when the food still isn’t out I talk to the owner and tell her the situation. She goes back and then a manager comes over saying they are still working on it and gives me the bill. I tell the manager I’m not paying for anything as this literally ruined our dinner. She goes away, comes back with the food bagged up and says “Here is your food, you can go now”. Both the waiter and the manager were rude during this entire encounter. THEN to top it off, on the way home we get a text from them saying the desserts they sent home were NOT gluten free…and my wife is celiac and the one that all this happened it!! And the last straw was when we got home, check out the burger…the damn thing was still medium rare!!! Check the picture for the 2nd burger and you tell me. After all this they didn’t even fix it. Long story short, they could have made it ok but the long remake, the attitude all around and the continuing mistakes show me this place has lost their touch.
I have celiac disease and need to be careful with gluten and cross contamination. Red Robin offers gluten free options and dedicated fryers which is usually great. This location has unfortunately glutened me twice within the past year, first with including breaded jalapeno coins in my burger, and then with giving me a normal gluten bun instead of a gluten free bun.
If you have any allergies, be careful with this location.
Great place to get casual food. Usually need Open Table or to call direct to get a reservation during peak lunch and dinner hours so you don't have to wait, can make reservations earlier in day to get a party of four in later. Really good food for the gluten-sensitive. Lighting can be a bit dark for visually impaired.
Homegrown hangout boasting craft beer and unique (and dare I say, gourmet) hotdog combos—personal favorite is the “Classy Lady”. Always delicious with excellent, speedy service. Delighted to see gluten free buns on the menu!
A wide variety of gluten free options, the food was delicious and it’s attached to a cool book store you can check out while you wait because like all good places, it’s busy.
My husband and I went to The Refectory last night and had a wonderful experience. Our server Lisa was very personable and did such a wonderful job educating us about the dishes offered and drink selections. The Refectory operates differently than most Ohio/US restaurants. It's recommended to order all courses ahead of time as they are small batch. We ordered 4 courses and even though the plates are smaller than "normal" we were pleasantly stuffed at the end of our meal.
To note, courses do come out at a slower, more European pace. Our entire dinner took 2.5 hours. I highly enjoyed the slow pace, it gave us more of a chance to slowly savor our dishes and really connect.
The escargot is more in a loaf type form and comes with a garlicky sauce that is just amazing. Not pictured is the soup I had which was the vegetarian, which was deliciously simple but definitely warming. My husband had the shrimp that had a lovely bright vinaigrette followed by the arugula salad. The arugula paired with the pancetta (I think) was delicious as the fat cut the sharpness of the arugula.
For my main course I had the sturgeon which I highly recommend. It was meltingly soft and the potatoes/vegetables provided a contrasting crunch. My husband had the duck which he highly enjoyed, the cherry sauce had a tartness he enjoyed but I did not particularly care for.
Dessert we both chose the creme brulee. The grand marnier was a nice change from a standard vanilla, it was beautifully silky and paired so well with probably the BEST latte I have ever had.
There were a few items I'm going to grumble about but really are minor and not worth detracting any stars: I have celiac and the gluten free bread basket at $5 extra was rather disappointing. It looked like regular sliced sandwich bread that was cut in diagonals. I'll skip the bread next time as Cameron Mitchell restaurants, Cooper's Hawk and others have better to offer.
The other grumbly item is the lack of dessert options for someone with celiac. I could choose between the creme brulee or I believe a sorbet. Dessert is my absolute favorite course so this was disappointing. It's the reason we'll come back maybe once or twice a year, but probably not more.
The entire place and staff is impeccable!! It’s sooooo hard to find gluten free options that taste like food. They blew me away with their calamari!! Everything else was also amazing!! Best dinner ever. So blessed to be taken here!!

We went to Hudson 29 on Valentine’s Day, understandably one of the busiest days of the year. When we asked about mocktails, I was offered a lemonade, which seemed odd as they have a full bar. We watched couple after couple receive their food, but our waiter said he was getting our app and never came back with it. We spoke with what appeared to be a GM or manager, and they finally brought it. It took an hour to get our food. We liked our meals and was comparable to other CM restaurants. We love Cameron Mitchell (CM) restaurants, but this experience didn’t meet the standard of the others of them. As always, gluten free and allergies are accommodated well as at other CM restaurants.
Se hai intolleranze o allergie questo posto fa al caso tuo, il caffè e buono ed hanno tante cosine GF e Vegane! Arredato in modo carinissimo ed all’interno trovi un mini market pieno di accessori vari 🤩
This was the perfect fresh breakfast I’ve been searching for. Food was delicious, staff were helpful, and the atmosphere was amazing.
The “Bee Cake” pancakes piqued my interest and my waitress was happy to explain. Basically, it’s a gluten free pancake made with honey and pollen that helps the dough raise like a “normal” pancake. However it had a surprisingly familiar mouth feel and a welcomed nutty flavor! Couldn’t be happier!
The breakfast sandwich I got was also delicious and fresh. Truly enjoyed this breakfast so much, I might say it’s the best part of the whole city!
We had a lovely outdoor lunch at the end of summer. I was pleasantly surprised by their gluten free pasta offerings. The calamari and spicy stuffed peppers were awesome. We will be back!
Went for dinner Saturday. It is BYOB so we brought a couple beers from 50 West, but I learned we should have brought a bottle of wine. That's a thing and almost every other table there had bottles of wine they brought. Started with the tots and 24 month aged parmesan. Had them hold the truffle oil. The tots were hot, crispy and there was quite a little of them. The aioli was great on the tots and the parmesan was an awesome compliment. I had a side of blue cheese cole slaw. It was really good - very tangy and creamy. It was the second time I've had blue cheese cole slaw and I'm going to get it whenever I see it on a menu. This was the first time I've been to a place and thought I could enjoy every single entree on the menu! I had the shrimp and grits entree. 6 large blackened shrimp with BBQ sauce on some tasty grits with whole pieces of corn and bacon. Excellent shrimp and grits. My wife had the fettuccini Alfredo pasta with fried shrimp and blue crab. She loved it, and I know why because I had a taste. The breading on the shrimp was so light you almost couldn't tell it was fried. She got the gluten-free carrot cake and I got the chocolate decadence. Here's was really good - mine blew me away. I don't usually get chocolate cake when I go places but the description sold me. It had layers of chocolate cake, chocolate brownie, chocolate mousse, and chocolate ganache. It was incredible! We also took home some special dessert items - tiramisu blossoms and macarons (espresso and I think raspberry). They really have great sweets here. I can't wait to go back and start trying all of the other entrees. Don't forget to call and get reservations. It's a small place so space is limited. We made the mistake of just showing up a few weeks ago and would have had to wait a couple hours. This time we made the reservation first. This is a new favorite place for us!
Good place! I'm not super adventurous so my meal wasn't anything great (my fault 100%). But the menus list what's Gluten Free, Vegan, Vegetarian, and what has dairy, which was great because we had three people who fell into one of those categories.
As a celiac with 2 children that have it we have always loved this place...unfortunately today my daughter went with friends and order gluten free pancakes for a gluten allergy. She currently is having a gluten attack which for us is violent vomiting for over 2 hours, extreme cramps and sweating followed by a month of auto immune symptoms. I know mistakes happen, but we unfortunately will not be back.
Kaley was wonderful talking us through the menu. The gluten free options were phenomenal! The Signature Dutch Baby was to die for. Wonderful experience!😊
I’ve ordered here a couple of times and the presentation, flavor, and cooked temperature is always on point! Staff really follows the ticket order. I love their gluten free bun.
Nothing compares to the entire experience of dining at Jeff Ruby’s! I went with my family about a month ago and can’t wait to go back. Everyone was extremely friendly and professional and the food was fantastic. Our server, Patrick was awesome. They even accommodated my gluten intolerance and made some yummy mocktails since I don’t drink.

Katie P was fantastic! She was kind and attentive for our whole meal. I have gluten and dairy allergies and she had the manager prepare everything to make sure it was safe!
We went to the foundry for the first time in a long time. While we were reviewing the menu, the waitress came to take our drink order. I started to ask questions about the menu for vegetarian, gluten free options, when she interrupted me and said "I'll come back when you figure it out." Then she promptly walked away and we promptly walked out. There is no excuse for such rudeness.
We ate on the patio. 3 of us, early evening. The guys got specialty burgers and I ordered a chicken n bacon sandwich, no bun. I asked for them to make sure there was NO pepper or spices on the sandwich. Then I asked if they had fried peppers of any kind and if so, do they fry them in the same fryer as the FF. They said they jave them, but they can fry my FF in their gluten free fryer. So I ordered this.
Another server brought our food. It had a few very appealing fried vegetable circles on my chicken sandwich. I asked what they were.
They put fried jalapeños on my chicken sandwich! After I spent time explaining why I could not eat peppers of any kind. They were directly on my chicken so they had to make a completely new one.
My guys had gotten their food so they were just about done by the time my corrected food came out.
The chicken did not have spices on it, but they again screwed it up. I had asked for them to just not serve the bun and no sauce. I should have gotten lettuce, tomato, bacon, cheese and chicken, plus a side of FF. Instead, I got one small piece of chicken with a piece of cheese and an order of FF.
The chicken was good, even though not what I ordered. I could still taste a bit of heat to it- they probably did not have a clean spot to grill it so it may have had a bit of pepper.
We did not go inside so I do not know the condition of the interior.
The server was pleasant.
The outside dining area was relatively clean.
We would probably eat there again if we were in the area.
Zhug oozes warmth and class, and is probably my favorite of Doug Katz's restaurant ventures. Like his other recent restaurants, it's best enjoyed as a tapas adventure with friends. Unlike his other ventures, they unfortunately are too cool for reservations. There's usually a couple spots open at the bar for the taking, but come with any more than 4 people and your wait on a busy night may be upwards of an hour. If you're lucky, you can find street parking in front on Cedar (free since COVID days), or park in the old Dave's grocery lot across the street (also free).
The dim lighting allows candlelight, plush pillows, and verdant greenery to dominate the atmosphere. The staff are entirely the opposite of the standoffish lot you might imagine would work here - every person we've encountered has been friendly and incredibly accommodating. Also accommodating is the menu, which is vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan friendly. Although they do have high chairs and children are welcome, it's not an ideal place to bring little rowdy ones since there's quite a bit of glassware and candles, not to mention tight quarters. Two gender-neutral bathrooms are located at the back and kept in orderly condition.
Be prepared to get lost in the sauce, because there are a lot of sauces and dips. A satisfying order usually consists of about 2-3 dishes per person. The usual culprits on our group's order are the Nigella Seed and Burnt Onion Hummus - paired with the complimentary pita bread, and a little dollop of their complimentary zhug (a spicy green Yemeni sauce), this provides a cozy foundation for your stomach as you await the rest of the food. Cauliflower, Roasted Carrots, and Potato Tostones are other delightful, textured bites to get your fiber in and fill up. Protein wise, I'm a huge fan of the Crispy Chicken and its brightly seasoned dipping sauce, as well as the Warm White Beans (more pleasurable than the plain name would suggest) and plump Butter Roasted Shrimp.
Their wine and cocktail menu is tastefully curated, but I've actually never made it to the desserts since we're usually so stuffed after the savory dishes.
