Lovely spot for an evening meal. Service is fantastic and so many gluten free options. We also had a couple cocktails which were nice! Booked online and were seated on the outdoor balcony area which was a lovely temperature with the heaters and had a beautiful view of the river. Food was served quite quickly as well.

Great atmosphere and service, with some options for dietary restrictions (vegan, dairy free, gluten free), though limited, but still there. If you're dairy free, your only options are pizza and chips, but it's pretty decent for what it is. Many drink options as well, a good bar for a drink on the river 😊 And as you could imagine, it's on the more moderate to pricey side, which i suppose is normal for Melbourne now.

Let me tell you… As always Sundays we love to eat out with our lovely grandchildren, the boys love pizza, we tried different restaurants in Southbank searching for gluten free meals, luckily for me we came to this bistro where they cater for coeliacs, the Margherita pizza was quite bland, however the chorizo pizza was delicious. We also had a cocktail and some great snacks. Thank you for the delicious food!!

A last minute unexpected surprise in the heart of the newly developed Arts district on the South Bank. We need catering for Coeliac Gluten Free food and this restaurant was excellent. The waiters were passionate about their cuisine and thoroughly informed. The chef visited the table and gave his personal assurance regarding the care taken to ensure the food remained GF. This included using dedicated oil. The food was delicious and wonderfully authentic. Our two favourites were the Al Pastor - grilled pork and pineapple and Betabel Tatemado - grilled beetroot. If you’re after an affordable, unpretentious authentic Mexican, with outstanding service, Maiz y Cacao needs to be at the top of your list.
