Food is excellent, lots of gluten free options suitable for someone with celiac. Service is great, but it's very loud and overly crowded. Tables are extremely close and people are often yelling at each other, which isn't how I like to brunch. If you go early it's not as bad.
I had a great friend share these with me so cannot speak to the price but OMG best gluten free ābakedā dessert Iāve had. I feel so good after eating it and itās still sweet. Truly perfect. I think the best flavors are the date one and the banana bread cup. And itās vegan, yay!
I ordered gluten free pancakes, and when I went to tell them it was āa gluten allergyā (I have celiac disease) she didnāt understand. My boyfriend tried telling her and she replied by saying , āshe ordered gluten free pancakes.ā with no confirmation it was safe to order. She then proceeds to collect our menus and throw them on the table next to us??? The server was overall rude and snappy despite being nice when we walked in.
The taste of the pancakes wasnāt even worth the price or risking getting sick. Iām leaving this review right after leaving, so I have no idea yet if itāll actually get me sick.
I REALLY wanted to love this place since it is so iconic. Iām so disappointed!!:(
My child and I went there after an appt just searching for a quick snack. I have Celiac and the GF donuts were PHENOMENAL!! So light and fluffy, you can't tell they're GF. We'll definitely be back!
So good! So much fun - and gluten free options. I am celiac and had no issues, but they do warn that cross-contamination is a risk (understood and I really wanted a donut). Beyond that the coffee was superb!
Iām really disappointed with my visit today. This store claims to offer gluten-free and, at times, sugar-free options. However, during previous visits, I was told by a friendly staff member that certain items in the display were sugar-free. Today, I asked about the same items, and a different staff member, who was noticeably unfriendly and seemed unwilling to help, told me they were not sugar-free.
This inconsistency is very concerning, especially for people who rely on accurate dietary information due to health reasons. It makes me question whether the gluten-free and vegan labels are truly trustworthy.
If you have food restrictions, be very cautious. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I no longer feel confident about the transparency or accuracy of this shop's claims.
I ordered a custom carrot cake for my wifeās birthday. The chef and owner were kind enough to process an expedited order with a 5 day delivery. The cake was fantastic! All our guests took leftovers of the cake back home. They even make gluten free cakes, which we will be trying soon!
The gluten-free options are amazing. The only downsideāand the reason for the 4 starsāis that the waffle in the crispy chicken & bacon Berlin waffle canāt be made gluten-free.
Had a work lunch here last week, and was happy to see there is a separate gluten free menu available, so I didn't get my hopes up about something I couldn't actually have. My dish came out with a little flag indicating "allergy" so there was no confusion at the table. Most importantly, the food was very good!
All of the ice cream is gluten free and vegan, as are the waffle cones. They do make some baked goods with gluten but are very knowledgeable on keeping them separate.
They have a great selection of so-so donuts. The flavor is usually pretty good but they're on the hard side and, while good for dunking (if you're into that sort of thing), not as fun for eating.
Their gluten free options are very limited and under the same glass as all the others. Additionally, the nuts options are also not separated, making it harder for those with nut allergies.
I highly recommend the strawberry bismark - the almost creamy strawberry jam is delicious, sweet, and the bismark is nice and soft. Great with hot or iced coffee.
I got the oat milk iced latte and was quite pleased. My regular elsewhere is a macchiato, but their latte was plenty good as a substitute.
I had a build your own, gluten free and vegan pizza it was pretty good. I wouldāve liked less cheese since vegan cheese tends to get slimy if you add too much of it. Other than that I loved how fresh the ingredients were.
The Turkish pastries are awesome and truly made by the owners, so fresh! Food gluten free baked goods you cannot get anywhere else. Great matcha and tea options that will have you coming back. Lots of space to sit and get work down while you sip or meet friend for a catch up.
Solid place to eat, solid pancakes, I think they might've been gluten free or something, could hardly tell. Tasty. Did not love the sausage, not savory or spicy, more of a sweet sausage. Cute spot seems good for a quick meet up or doing some work.
Super nice and happy staff, a few great gluten- free options! The Soy Horchata Hot Chocolate is so delicious!!!š Good music and a family like atmosphere
Highly recommend this place. The guy working that day was super friendly. Did you know you can get a donut cake? Simply amazing!! Donuts come in 6 pack boxes, and super cute, and great flavors. I had the gluten free blue berry, and honestly I was wondering if I was tricked. Simply the best gluten free donut Iāve ever had. Great staff, great donuts. Highly recommended
Why did I wait so long to try this Lawrence Avenue place out???
Phenomenal. Top tier. Made by skilled people from Southern Greece.
Ate the chocolate baklava roll right there which was fairly priced for the high quality and substantial quantity I got. They have cute little counter seats by the window. And then after being offered a sampling of a delicious sweet bread I was absolutely hooked and got a dozen powdered almond cookies for the gathering I was going to. The best cookies of this type that I've ever had. The kind owners even threw in a gluten free almond paste cookie with a raspberry middle for my GF friend (they do have some gluten free and vegan selections). Had a nice conversation with the chill owners and left with my treasures snuggled in a pretty box. The treats were devoured by all at the gathering. Everybody loved it and I mean loved it.
This bakeshop has been in business for 35 years. They deserve our support. I will most definitely be back for more. I especially want to try a spinach and cheese pie next.
Very good donuts with a large variety of flavors to choose from including gluten free options. The mocha & hot chocolate were yummy too. I love the water refill station -- thanks so much for having that available!
Oh my goodness! The food is amazing. Even carnivorous friends are enjoying their meals! The smoothies are out of this world. Everything is 100% plant based and super crazy good! Also have lots of amazing gluten free options. Highly recommend for all people who enjoy good food!
Fantastic coffee shop to have a good healthy (or not so healthy breakfast).
The servers do not have a great attitude and that takes away from the whole experience.
The place is well located and the seating is comfortable. Sometimes its a stretch to get a table, lots of people with laptops.
We had the garden greens salad which was very fresh with good ingredients. The almond latte is also very good.
They hace gluten free bread which is delicious.
Their sandwiches are also very good. We tried the chicken club and the morning sandwich.
They have cholula hot sauce in the counter which is great!
Awesome place for fresh bread. Some of our favorites: sourdough, gluten-free, and lots of other varieties.
Unique tea in bulk: rose, hibiscus, German chamomile,...
Spices, flours, and grains in bulk, both organic and conventional.
Sheep cream cheese, even garlic flavored... Love their beet salad with horseradish.
This is a beautiful coffee shop and Iām happy we got to stop in but my only issue is, is that I assumed I would get more help with knowing my options for gluten free drinks. I had email them prior and they told me Iād be able to get help once I was there so that was my plan but once I got up there and asked if the coffee I wanted was gluten free she wasnāt sure so she went and asked when she came back to me she said it wasnāt. So then I asked her if she could tell me what my options were and then she had to ask them again which they told me I could only get a drink with milk, honey and espresso. They were super busy and I was very rushed. The drink was good but I was expecting a much better experience especially when I was told Iād have options. They do have gluten free bakery options but I didnāt get any of those and they do share a case with all the other items so keep that in mind. Lovely coffee shop just probably isnāt the best option for someone with a gluten allergy.
One of the best restaurants for Middle Eastern food. The staff and owners make you feel comfortable and welcomed and there are many dietary friendly options (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free). Lovely restaurant!
If you're looking for an amazing breakfast spot with quick service and clean food, look no further. Pasture raised eggs, Chicken sausage, and sweet potato hash, Plus gluten free toast!!! Say no more!! I've also had the lemon and blueberry pancakes from them and they made them gluten free.. they are out of this world! By far my favorite breakfast spot in the city!
Where do we begin? We went with West Town Bakery for our wedding cake because my wife has a dairy allergy, so we needed a vegan cake. We are excited to find West Town because there are very few places in Chicago with vegan wedding cake options that aren't also gluten-free. However, working with West Town was very disappointing.
First off, when we went to taste test the cake options, not all of the promised vegan options were available (despite ordering these options in advanced). However, we were able to make a selection we liked based on what they had available at the time. Second, when we decided on our flavor options and wanted to learn more about their wedding cake ordering process, we had the unfortunate experience of working with the most inept employee we'd ever encountered. He didn't know half the answers to our basic questions like how far in advance should we pay and if sheet cakes were an option (despite supposedly working in the cake department) and then sent us a invoice that had our cake and payment details totally wrong. We had to send him a corrected invoice before we were comfortable paying the reservation fee. If we had any other options for a vegan wedding cake, we would have changed cake vendors at this point, trust us.
Thankfully, a few days later, that employee left West Town Bakery, and we were paired with a far more competent employee. And we naively thought things would improve. Unfortunately, when we went to update our cake order based on our final guest count (before the final changes deadline in our contract with West Town) they again sent us a contract/invoice with incorrect wedding cake details (no note about the cake needing to be vegan) and wildly incorrect payment due dates. We again sent them a corrected invoice and got assurances that the cake order was updated and would be correct!
Then comes the wedding day. Not only was the cake delivered one hour late, but they also delivered the wrong order. They did not update our wedding cake order for the accurate number of guests despite having confirmed that they would. This resulted in us having a much smaller display cake than we requested and paid for and much more sheet cake that we did not need!
The only reason they are getting 2 stars is because the cake actually tasted good and my wife didn't have an allergic reaction, so we guess it was at least dairy free.
I have to eat gluten free. I was very impressed with the options that were available. I had the turkey bacon and egg croissant, and subbed out the croissant for the gluten free bread. It was delicious. The manager went above and beyond making sure I received all the ingredients and then some. They were beyond accommodating and I will definitely come again. I highly recommend this location. Thank you again to the kind staff and for the delicious food.
Great customer service. The best, most moist, crave worthy gluten free blueberry muffin I have ever had. I absolutely loved eating it. And will be dreaming of that muffin. Chai tea was tasty, no up-charge for soy milk is awesome.

It's a wonderful neighborhood grocery store! I appreciate that I can buy a single piece of fruit or vegetable, and don't have to buy produce in bulk or wrapped in plastic. The employees are friendly and the store is clean. I also love that they offer a variety of international products and gluten free pastas and flours as well. I highly recommend!
The plating at Sweet Moon is so exquisite that I imagine a chef using a pair of tweezers to meticulously place each item to be displayed on the dish. My mother and I talk for at least two minutes about the layout and design of the plated food before diving in and being even more amazed by the flavor combinations. My favorite menu item is the Merengue Roulette, a gluten-free merengue with mascarpone pistachio cream, raspberry jam, baked almond, and whole pistachios.
For such well-crafted and well-balanced dishes, the wait time is not long, usually not exceeding 10 minutes. Although the place is typically always filled with people all customers are respectful of the noise level and it is quiet and serene. Great place to work or catch up with a friend!
Great friendly staff! Krystal was very helpful - they were able to check ingredients for multiple products for the allergies I have. Drinks can be made gluten and dairy free š
Best cupcakes! I get one weekly every Tuesday when she arrives to the Roosevelt collection down in the south loop. Just tried the new gluten free vanilla cupcake!!! Tastes just like the regular - delicious. YUM!
Really enjoyed this place! Lots of gluten free options - baked goods and substitutions. The staff is knowledgeable and even had a binder of laminated menu items with their allergy items listed. The GF lemon bar was excellent and my son enjoyed the Krispy treat. Highly recommend!
I have always passed by this place several times but never been in here once until October 20th when I went out with one of my friends. Initially before coming here I had to make sure they had gluten free options because my friend cannot consume gluten. My friend and I were happy that they have gluten free bagels! Definitely the store had a lot of options to choose from. I got the northsider sandwich and my friend got the joni sandwich (with the gluten free bagel). It was super good and honestly my first time having a bagel like this. Also they have the best Nola hazelnut latte ever!! I am a huge fan of hazelnut coffee/lattes and when I tried it hereā¦oh man it was instantly my favorite! Definitely rank #1 for me when it comes to hazelnut lattes. A chill and relax place to eat at and enjoy with friends or family!!

What a gem. Trogo is on the 2nd floor of the Green Exchange Building. Quaint coffee/breakfast/lunch place. Superb and thoughtful sandwiches, salads, and soups. Great place for people with dietary restrictions (plenty of vegan and gluten free options) I had the frittata panini with mushrooms. Easily the best egg sandwich Iāve had in ages. The owners are a husband and wife team. Super friendly and they take pride in their business. Would highly recommend. And sea salt chocolate chip cookie is phenomenal and also happens to be vegan.
