My partner and I always go t OK Samuel Pepys wenever we visit Launceston, as we know the whole menu (which is very extensive) she is able to have (Lactose and Gluten Free). Food, service and atmosphere is always top notch. Can't recommend highly enough. Especially for people who have the battle of finding places that cater for allergies.
Really loving all of the new gluten free savoury options, as well as the gluten free sweet selection. Great coffee, great food and always really good service.
This is a lovely Cafe with fresh fish and other really lovely dishes on the menu. We've never had a meal here that was less than perfect. I'm coeliac and have never had an issue eating here. This visit, I had the seafood Laksa and my partner had the chowder. So very good!
They also have full or half serves of their fish and chips. The gluten free version is especially good. I treat myself for lunch on occasion and it's never greasy. We've also had their lamb souvlaki in the past and it's so tasty!
Overall, I'd highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area. I think this is one of the best cafes in the Burnie area, and the service is excellent too.
Great spot, good vibes, highly glutenous.
A fantastic place for a drink, but if you’re coeliac you better be happy to eat salad. The almost complete lack of gf menu items is disappointing in this day and age!
We ate here 1 night while staying at St Helen's. Came without a booking at a busy time but they found a table for us. Server confirmed gluten free options with the chef for me. I had the seafood marinara gluten free which had a decent amount of seafood and plenty of sugo though a bit too much chilli for my taste. My husband had fish and chips which was a large serve, hot, crisp and tasty. The service was very slow (45mins wait) because they only had 1 person in the kitchen but plenty of wait staff - would have been better the other way around. We got talking to the people at the next table so that filled in the waiting time. The wait staff were friendly and helpful.
The best breakfast I’ve had in Tasmania so far, they have the most amazing gluten-free bread and very hearty meals with a wonderful relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend! 😍
This is a really good place to enjoy and linger over one's morning coffee: cosy, relaxed, a decor that's smart yet friendly at the same time, and terrific coffee. Their breakfast menu is particularly good. Plus where else do you get a fab old wilderness steam train looming large in your breakfast view? Only slight hiccup for me (as a coeliac) was the levy on gluten free bread: understandable perhaps because of its higher cost, but disappointing because it really pushes the simple toast brekkie into a different bracket. But I'd come back, definitely.
Should have taken a photos! 3 of us visited this cafe for lunch and found the food to be exceptional. Being gluten free, there were some options on the menu I wanted that weren't gluten free, but they were more than happy to accommodate my requirements and made their chicken burger with grilled chicken rather than fried. Definitely recommend
I have been to Rhyme Street Café FOUR TIMES as my family lives close by. Each time I have ordered a gluten free breakfast and no joke, 4 times they have brought me a gluten breakfast. The first time I ordered an omelette with gluten free bread, there was sourdough toast on it. They then went to take the toast off and give it back to me, I explained I am coeliac and can’t have cross contamination like that. They had to make another omelette. The second time was gluten free Scrambled eggs with avocado, no toast. It again came with sourdough bread. Third time was another omelette, EXACTLY the same thing happened as the first time. My partner wanted to try them one last time, so I complied. I ordered a gluten free omelette again, SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN!! Stupid of us to go back again, but they are in a convenient location. Every time, I ensured the lady at the counter wrote gluten free. There were no apologies, not once. We won’t be going here again and I would definitely NOT recommend this place to other people who have to be on a gluten free diet. There is a café across the road that is entirely gluten free called “meal machines café”, we didn’t know about them until after we ate here but they are fantastic, go there instead!!
