Whoever we interacted with (I think the owner?) was very attentive to my friend and I, and the other patrons. I loved that everything what gluten free!! The food was classic and delicious. The frozen fish to take home looked vibrant and yummy too!
Julia made this an incredible experience! I am so grateful for Julia and The Mule, as a celiac and anaphylactic to Peanuts and Tree Nuts, my time finding restaurants that I feel truly safe is rare. This was the first place in Canada where I felt that safety to just explore the menu, relax, and enjoy. Everyone that came to our table was kind, informed, and awesome! Also the food IS AMAZING! Best tacos I’ve had in Ontario. Thank you again to Julia and the team for making a memorable meal and amazing experience. Will be coming back to Hamilton just for The Mule!
Absolutely amazing pastries! 100% gluten free, plenty of vegan options as well. Customer service was incredible. I will definitely be coming back for more!
New owner (Raj) has really outdone himself! The new layout is beautiful—a fun, fresh vibe for sure! Food is still delicious, lots of variety (the gluten free fish n chips are AMAZING!), and the staff are very friendly. Will come back for sure!
Love it here. It’s so cozy. Lots of their little treats and baked goods are gluten free and I believe they are all vegan. Their brunch menu is good too! Very generous portions. They always play the perfect cozy calm music, you can reserve a table which I would recommend doing on the weekends. I’m the warmer months they have some patio tables out on the sidewalk to watch all the Locke street dogs walking by. The banana bread is 20/10. I also love their matcha oat latte with strawberry syrup.
I’ve never had a complaint about this place. Well, maybe that it’s not closer to my house 😂
Such good food, friendly service and some tasty gluten free options too!
Easily the best gluten free pizza I've ever eaten.
The atmosphere is very fun and interesting and the theme works really well.
Service was good, even with a massive table in our section we were served in good time and everyone was very pleasant.
It is not at the location. It is a columbian bakery with a sign to call if you want something. For someone just passing through hamilton this put a damper on our ability to get gluten free.
We parked down the street in a parking lot that only accepted coins. $2/hr. (No cards accepted only coins)
When you first step foot in the door it's like being punched in the nose by an old moldy cloth. 🤢 Needless to say, we stuck around because we heard that that pop punk band 'Accident Prone' from the early 2000s has been seen there. 🤘
The staff are the cool kids you jammed with in school. Friendly enough and didn't seem to mind catering to our dietary restrictions of dairy-free and gluten-free. They were very accommodating.
If you are looking for Root Beer here, you won't find it. It's only Pepsi products (and even though Pepsi makes root beer, they didn't have it lol!)
The BEST thing about this visit.... APORKALYPSE NOW BURGER AND SWEET POTATO FRIES!!!!! I still dream of this pork on pork product. There is nothing as good as this. The burger patty is delicious, it's topped with regular bacon that was the perfect crisp and if that wasn't enough it was topped with chunky double smoked bacon (which I hope to be buried with one day). I swapped my provolone for vegan cheese (for those with broken bellies like me) And, if that wasn't enough.... they slather this little piggy in horseradish mayo!! Like what the funk?!? Who thinks of such a glorious burger lube?!? Bottle that and sell it, you'd make a killing!! I swapped the standard fries for sweet potato fries that came with a tasty dip and it was a match made on the farm!
I am STOKED that we stayed, that burger was like nothing I have ever eaten before. Thank you to whoever created it! It was simply gorgeous.
I hope to be back someday to enjoy that morsel once more!
To prefix, I want to say that the staff at The Burnt Tongue have ALWAYS been great to deal with and accommodating.
However, if you are a vegan, dairy free or have any dietary restrictions: AVOID THIS RESTAURANT 🚫
Their system for indicating vegan items is inherently busted. Items are marked with a “VVC” which translates to being vegan and celiac friendly on their little ordering guide.
With that said, they have a little asterisk (*) that says to check about daily specials on a dish.. or something along those lines. The signage is confusing as the asterisk doesn’t say “may change what dietary restrictions are accommodated by this dish.”
In my scenario, I ordered a soup marked as “VVC”… but there was cheese in the toppings. Whoever thought that putting dairy in a dish SPECIFICALLY NOTED as being vegan shouldn’t be allowed to add items to the menu.
Again, the staff were fantastic at getting me a refund and courteous when on the phone.
This doesn’t excuse the fact that The Burnt Tongue is negligently and FALSELY advertising dishes as being vegan/dairy free when they are, in fact, not. I should not have to ask if a vegan option is actually vegan.. this is dangerous to people who have severe food allergies and grossly incompetent.
I will not be returning until they can make the appropriate changes to the listing process for their menu items. I and advising friends and family to go elsewhere until that change is made, too.
We used to come here all the time - and it was great. Then last year we went and I noticed the gluten free pizza did not taste the same as it had. Took a break from Caro, then decided to give it another go, and it is disgusting. The gluten free dough *was* the best in the city (I’ve been gluten free for 10 years and tried many places), and it appears they changed the dough. Not sure why they would change it because the last 2 times it has been horrible. Couldn’t even finish a slice. Very disappointing! Will not be returning, and I no longer will be recommending Caro as a gluten free option
8 of us went for a work gathering and I can't even begin to caution against here enough!
From being sat at the incorrect table and moved, to tables thag wobble and having to finally swap thw table ourselves (after mentioning this to our server)
To only.part.of our ppl getting a drink and others flagging one down, apparently the breaded cauliflower os now needed broccoli without even so much as a heads up.
Orders were screwy. Salads with wrong dressing x2, I'm gluten free and ordered no bun but.got.the bun and when this was pointed out I got.a dry overcooked -borderline burnt burger without and condiments.
Another of us ordered a salad.with grilled chicken only to be asked a whole.later again what protein she wanted.
We were asked 2 mins after getting our apps how we were doing but not again.
The restaurant was awful, service & food.
As we.are management from a local store celebrating this was very disappointing.
We try and support local businesses but we definitely will not be back.
I am overwhelmed with happiness from my experience at this barBURRITO today. I was recently diagnosed with Celiac, and have not been out to a fast food restaurant in months since being diagnosed. The gentleman who helped me, was AMAZING. I asked him about his Gluten Free option and asked if he could change his gloves and wipe everything down. He did, and not only that, he made sure that my items did not touch anything that was used with wheat, he made sure to offer me options that were Gluten Free Certified, he changed his gloves multiple times, and even put parchment paper between my items on the heat pad. He was SOOOO diligent and made me feel super safe and happy. I am VERY happy, and would recommend this location to other people whom are Gluten Intolerant as me. I wish I would have got his name, the guy deserves a raise! :D
We have eaten weekend breakfast here on many occasions. The gluten free waffles are the best I've ever tasted. The coffee is great. The service is friendly. The seating is tight but worth the wait on a busy day.
This is a very cozy spot that my friend and I have visited on a few occasions now. Every time we are greeted with AMAZING service, everyone is so pleasant and knowledgeable about all the options available, especially for my friend who has a gluten intolerance - one of the few places that has a good amount of options for that dietary restriction. I impulsively decided on a dessert which also ended up being fantastic.
Amazing food! Always freshly made. My daughter is celiac and when I let them know through a note left with my online order they called me back almost immediately to assure me that they take allergies very seriously. They took all precautions to prevent cross contamination and also had gluten free soy sauce.
Atmosphere rating doesn’t really count as its take out only.
decided to go to Caro
for a gluten free pizza tonight . server came to tell us they were out of at
least 3 items on the menu and many types of drinks
then waited to order -crickets
waited 20 min … no one took our order
we left … terrible service
sorry not sorry
We came here last night with friends. It was a last-minute decision to try Bangkok Spoon, and we've wanted to go for a while but never made it until now. The atmosphere is very nice, with partitions between some tables that create a more intimate setting.
We tried a few dishes, including Bangkok Pad Thai, spicy noodles, tiger shrimp spring rolls, pepper beef, mixed vegetables, vegetable rice, and garlic string beans. First of all, I want to mention that our waiter was a very nice and courteous gentleman. However, he seemed to struggle with remembering some of our requests.
One issue was that the spicy noodles were forgotten in our order, which was a meal for one of us. While the rest of us were eating, he was still waiting for his dish. When it finally arrived, our friend, who is celiac, had to double-check to ensure that the item was gluten-free, but it wasn’t. This led to it being taken back to the kitchen, and our friend had to wait again for his meal while we continued to eat.
We tried to be patient, but with the two mix-ups, our food was getting cold. The waiter seemed eager to please but just wasn’t having the best night. We also asked for soy sauce, which was forgotten and required a reminder before it was brought to us.
After all of these service issues, when the bill was delivered, the spicy noodles were not taken off our bill, which our friend had to ask to be corrected. It should have been done automatically without us needing to ask. Thank you for trying to make it better by giving us a scoop of ice cream. I hope that the waiter has better days in the future.
Overall, while the food was very tasty, it wasn’t plentiful for four people, and the price was a bit high. For that price, we could’ve had an AYCE meal. While the food was good, the service had some hiccups that impacted our overall experience. I hope they can improve on that for future visits!
I have to eat gluten free as I'm celiac & family members kindly picked me up some GF morning glory muffins from Paisley Cafe to try. Wow...best GF muffin I've ever had!!! I will be making the 45 minute drive to see them soon (& I suspect often!) to hopefully get more muffins & try whatever other GF delights they have! I wish I still worked at McMaster University so I could visit them every day!! :-)
**Update - visited in person - do be careful if celiac as server used same tongs on regular gluteny treats on the GF treats. I didn't notice the tongs weren't fresh until midway through server packing up my goodies & I ended up having to give away $30 worth of treats as I couldn't eat them. My bad, I should have asked server to use fresh tongs when I ordered.
The sweetest staff ever!! I always feel so welcome at Mulberry :) the salty vegan cookie and cinnamon bun latte are a must. I wouldn't recommend for celiacs, but they have an awesome gf banana bread for those with an intolerance!
One of our favorite restaurants in Hamilton! When we dine in, the staff are always so friendly. We like to get the katsu curry and karaage donburi - both delicious, and gluten-free! Looking forward to trying their sushi soon. 😊
There’s a kind of magic that happens when a place doesn’t just serve food — it serves connection. Mactini Bar in Hamilton is that kind of space. Family-owned, 100% gluten-free, and fully committed to intentional comfort, this spot is where indulgence meets meaning.
The first sip of their appletini hit like a memory — fresh, sweet, crisp, and kissed with vanilla. And the lavender martini? Like walking through a summer garden, bold and bright with every sip.
Now the food? Don’t even get me started.
Their mac & cheese is an actual work of art — crispy perfection outside, gooey nostalgia inside. The maple bacon chicken ranch mac was a rollercoaster of crunch, cream, sweetness and tang. And the HNDY mac flight? Three different flavours, all full of character — the buffalo chicken had a subtle heat, OG was comfort in a bowl, and the seafood mac was buttery, garlicky, and full of juicy shrimp, scallop, and salmon. 🤯
But it’s not just the food — it’s the vibe. An open ambience, drag shows, and other fun activities coming soon, this place is an open invitation to just chill. They listen to customer feedback, adapt the menu, and treat you like family.

Excellent food, excellent service.
My wife and I held our rehearsal dinner at the Motel Restaurant and it was a great time. The vibes were really great, the service was excellent, and the food, wow the food.
The food was outstanding, they also had some excellent vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options for our wedding party who have those dietary restrictions. This was good quality food too, these restrictions were not an after thought they clearly made meals taste good with said restrictions and our guests loved them.
I would recommend booking your next event or dinner night at Motel Restaurant!

Extremely delicious cupcakes. However, warning. I google searched “gluten free bakeries near me”. This place comes up on top. Saying gluten free. No sign that I could clearly see up front on store indicating regarding GF so my mistake I assumed the entire bakery was GF. ordered cupcakes and got sick. Obviously being celiac that’s on me to ask. But google should not have listed this up front. And perhaps better signage in store. But again my fault. Just warning my celiac comrades.
Our server Gabby was amazing and so attentive as I am gluten free, she made sure everything was going well. She checked on us a few times and was making sure we were in the loop about our food and timing, I appreciated that.
Also, I have never seen a manager be so active, Mike was running plates out to people, checking on people, we even saw him wiping the counter in the washroom. This was soo amazing! This is by far our favourite keg location out of all we have visited (hamilton, niagara falls, missisauga, toronto) and we will continue to come to this one.
We had a great birthday lunch at this location. As a Celiac I always appreciate the dedicated fryer. Our server Ashley was fantastic. Very funny, very attentive, and surprised our son with a dessert. She even noticed my husband’s beer didn’t look quite right and replaced it. Will definitely come back to this location.
We travelled 2 hours to eat dinner here. Destination choice. Us and our friends (4 top) The dining room was busy, loud and full of laughter. The Kitchen was on a lull when we sat down for our 7 pm table, as we had a front row seat to see what they are up to. What they are "up to" is a LOT. As is the whole restaurant. Great greeting at the door, good well timed and solid service by the whole team, table visit from the Manager to say hello and chat for a minute. Very well made drinks, good wine selection by the glass, big tables, nice big chairs. Details. They have these covered. As the second rush hit, and the Kitchen crew was heading into what I know was the second stretch of service in a 10+ hour day, they did not let up. All of the parts of the dishes we ordered had their full attention. The salad, venison carpaccio and squash fritters were delicious, proportional and looked fantastic. The frites on the burger and flat iron steak (both cooked as ordered, delicious and served hot) were crisp and seasoned. The gnocchi was so good my wife purposefully did not finish so she could take some home to have the next day and my duck leg had crispy skin, soft delicious meat and slightly textured cabbage, with potatoes, proper lardons and a balance of tart mustard. There was dessert too after all of that great food, a smooth and full-of-real-vanilla-bean brulee and a light lemon tart. Espresso martinis after the meal instead of coffee. I am a full blown celiac diner who understands that there will be dishes that I just cannot have and yet I had numerous menu choices as well as un-requested thoughtful additions provided (gluten free crackers for my carpaccio) This is a restaurant business that you can go to knowing that all of the people that are here are working to put out the very best over-all experience they can, and have been doing so for the past several years. In a changing time of eating out and deciding where to go and what to get, my wife put it perfectly - "Go somewhere that can exceed your expectations" The French does just that.
The Burnt Ends were tender and succulent, the Red Cabbage was just right--not too sweet-- and just as I remember as a kid at home, and the Fries were crisp and hot. Most important of the, the Staff were super helpful and friendly, and they went out of their way to make sure that the order was gluten-free, low salt, and that I was able to have it delivered. Exceptional service and food.
Great place my wife is gluten free and they served us a great breakfast i like the button system for the less fortunate we donated $10 today toward it keep up the good wor
I used to love stopping here on my trips to HHSC.. the old location was better, so many incredible gluten free treats. The new location the gluten free items slowly disappeared and now there is nothing :(
I would love to hear why the business model completely changed and the GF breads, flours, cookbooks and baked goods are gone.
Update: Not a poor taste review. I drove by today and again was wishing you would at least explain the change. You developed a clientele who was looking specifically for gluten free items and then ditched all of us with no explanation.
Drove from Oakville to visit Coven for the first time today. What a treat! All the staff were friendly and helpful. The product selection and quality was great. As someone with a few dietary restrictions (vegan for the animals and celiac for medical) I was extremely happy to find some of my favourite foods and even some new treats I'd never heard of before! Thank you, Coven. I'm looking forward to coming back again when I'm in the neighbourhood.
The food here is fantastic,
They have fresh authentic mexican dishes with many options including gluten free an extensive dedicated vegan/vegetarian menu which is not common for most mexican restaurants!
I tried the tacos and they were fresh, tasty and came with authetic dips, birria juice and authentic mexican spice dip,
They also had amazing fresh juices like strawberries berry and mango and much more
The service was very friendly and fast,
I will highly recommend!
They just put out a summer menu and it was excellent. Best to go with a group and share. They were able to accommodate for my celiac. Try the whipped feta. It was out of this world. The waitress was lovely and we didn’t need for anything.
One of my new favourite spots! I've visited twice now & love it...food is soooo good & service is excellent. I'm celiac & love all the gluten free options - chowder is outstanding, awesome fish & chips & great desserts. Can't wait to return & try more menu items. And shout out to Delaney who served our table on our last visit - one of the best servers we've ever had! Thank you Pinbones for so many amazing gluten free options!
Service has been great every time we’ve gone and my kids love the birthday cake pancakes. I’ve usually been very happy with the food and grateful for the many gluten free options but this time my food was actually cold—not even room temp/warm, but cold as I’d it has recently come out of a refrigerator.
My daughter also had the top of the syrup container come off as she was pouring some on her pancake. The staff were very apologetic and assured her that it wasn’t her fault (apparently it’s not uncommon). It was a busy morning, so I didn’t say anything about the temp of my food.
Most of the time I would give five stars and we will still go back—I’ll just assume that this was an off day. Service was still great and I’m sure if I had said something, they would have addressed the cold food issue but maybe we won’t go back on holidays in the future 😬😅
