Visiting Monterey for the weekend and was looking for a gluten-free cafe to grab some lunch. Ended up at Nece's GF and YUM! The ancient grain bread I chose for my sandwich was superb, the snickerdoodle cookie was just the right amount of sweet, and my dog got all the love while we were sitting outside on the patio. Definitely will return next time I'm in town. :)

You have to get the flight if you are dairy and gluten free; they had four flavors I could choose from, 4!!! So the flight it was and my husband got the waffle cone because we could have that too. Only a block away from the Aquarium it was a great place to get our lunch. Get your hand stamped at the Aquarium so you can return and avoid the entrance line. Many premade sandwiches to choose from as well as make your own. The gluten free bread was great and the sandwich was wonderful. They are careful to prevent cross contamination so it is made in a different area of the shop. The time from order to sandwich was only 12 minutes.
The only seating is 3 tables for 2 outside on the sidewalk, but you can get your order to go and eat it back in the Aquarium cafeteria. We did get one of the tables and it was fun to people watch during lunch.

I used to really love this place. I have celiac disease, and almost all of their items are gluten free. They’ve always been pretty willing to accommodate me, and I considered this one of my staple spots. Unfortunately, after many times eating there successfully, I was glutened and got super sick. When I tried to discuss this with them, they showed very little compassion and basically hung up on me. So disappointing.

If you are gluten free, I would not eat here despite the gf options. I ordered the gf pasta aglio e olio and my friend ordered the same dish regular (non-gf). My dish came out with about 1/3 to 1/2 the amount of food as hers. When we asked the waiter, he said that the chef does it all by weight and there was no mistake. For $30, it was an absolutely unacceptable amount of food. Even the server acknowledged it was a very small portion but there was nothing he or anyone could do other than for me to order more food at full cost. I make gf pasta at home, and it couldn’t have been more than a third of a box of pasta at most. They don’t upcharge for their gf pasta, but I would much rather a $5 or some upcharge and get a normal amount of food than be told I have to order another $30 dish to get a comparable amount of food as non-gluten free diners.
