So I never want to talk poorly about a 100% celiac bakery, but I’m not a fan. I got the chocolate pie (big chocolate fan) and it was too chocolatey even for me. I also tried the cranberry lemon cheesecake and it was alright but the crust was very wet.
I enjoyed the meringue I bought. The expiration date is more than 3 months from now. (It’s December 23 and the expiration date is March 18th) When I go to a bakery, I would want something fresher baked. Just seems a little odd for me.
So many gluten free options. BEST fried pickles and crispy Brussels. All of our food was so fresh. Our server was very friendly and happy to answer any questions. Highly recommend
The food here is amazing! We moved to the neighborhood recently and didn't realize what an extensive gluten free menu there is here. Everything was cooked to perfection but the standouts were the pizza (gluten free and not) and the tagliatelle pasta.
It was a busy night but they were able to accommodate our group of five with only a few hours notice and our server was wonderful!
I was throughly blown away when the waiter told us that everything is fried in the same oil. Seafood and French fries, same oil. So forget about French fries if you have a seafood and gluten allergy. Why aren't fries cooked separately? The waiter was kind and considerate. He waiter was kind, and his service was excellent.
Awesome flavorful ice cream with seasonal options. Great labeling for allergies whether it’s soy, gluten, wheat, or dairy. Typically options available for everyone.
Pressed Cafe on Needham St is one of the only places in Newton where you can get a hearty breakfast bowl or burrito around 6 AM. One major benefit I found is that they also have extensive gluten-free options!
They are well versed and responsive to allergy concerns, as this morning I asked if a particular item had gluten in it. The cashier then took the time to check the allergen booklet to see if there was any concern. There was not. I am very thankful for that cashier because they displayed a discipline and hard work when some Pain In The Butt Customer is asking about allergy concerns. I appreciate that!
They have a variety of foods, but I recommend any of the foods they have. They also cater to people who are Paleo eaters, with a few desserts or pastries that are Paleo friendly.
Personally, one of my favorites is their cold brew coffee with light coconut milk. It is a George Howell brand rocket fuel that is flavorful and even craved on a winter morning. There chia pudding is adorned with fresh cut fruit, jam, and peanut butter, giving it a variety of flavors. Their GF sandwiches and wraps are ample.
Pricewise, you may find comparable options if you can wait until 7 or 8 AM, but Pressed Cafe is hard to beat if you're an early bird and want consistent high quality foods. If you can't make it to the Newton area, make sure to check their website. They are located around the greater Boston area, too!
Hands down the best sushi in the Boston area. So fresh and creative. You usually need a reservation to have dinner here and they only accept them via phone or email (an online booking would be really great in the future!). Takeout sushi is just as outstanding. They can make gluten free sushi as well which is awesome.
We had a great meal. We reserved a table for 5 and were seated immediately when we arrived. Servers were all nice and attentive.
They have a rather large gluten free menu. My wife needs to eat gluten free, so that's a big part of why we chose Davio's for this family meal. She was not disappointed! All the servers were very aware and knowledgeable about the whole GF thing, and that's huge! She didn't see exactly what she was hoping for on the menu, so she asked one of our servers if they could make her some seafood and pasta alfredo. No problem. The kitchen made her a very generous plate w gf pasta, scallops and shrimp and alfredo sauce! It was delicious! Cooked perfectly. And she had a gf roll, and clam chowder. She was very happy, so thank you to the kitchen and staff to make this happen.
The rest of us also had delicious meals as well. Clam chowder was hot and delicious (and GF anyway), popovers, and spring roll trio were all yum! Steaks cooked perfectly as we ordered them.
We also shared roasted potatoes, risotto and Brussel sprouts.
All very good, although the risotto was a little bland. And its very dark in there. But that's it for negatives. We would go back without hesitation.
I was very happy with my takeout experience! There was someone waiting at the side door to hand out takeout orders so you don’t have to enter the restaurant. They have a separate gluten free section of their online takeout menu to make GF ordering easy. The food was delicious and well packaged in the to-go containers. We will be back :)
Trader Joe's in Newton is undoubtedly a fantastic grocery store that offers a unique and enjoyable shopping experience. I had the pleasure of exploring this store and was impressed with several aspects, but I must acknowledge that it falls short in one key area—its selection of organic, gluten-free, and keto items.
First and foremost, Trader Joe's has a welcoming and lively atmosphere that immediately puts you in a good mood. The staff members are friendly and helpful, always ready to assist and provide recommendations on their products. The store's layout is well-organized, making it easy to navigate and find what you need.
One of the highlights of Trader Joe's is their wide range of specialty and unique products. Their selection of snacks, frozen foods, and ready-to-eat meals is simply delightful. It's an excellent place to discover new and interesting items that you might not find in other grocery stores. The quality of their products is generally impressive, and their commitment to offering a variety of high-quality items is commendable.
However, where Trader Joe's falls short is in its limited selection of organic, gluten-free, and keto items. For customers with dietary restrictions or health-conscious preferences, the choices can be somewhat disappointing. While they do offer some organic and gluten-free options, the variety is not as extensive as one might hope for. Similarly, those following a keto lifestyle may find it challenging to locate suitable products that align with their dietary needs.
Despite this limitation, I appreciate that Trader Joe's is continually introducing new items and listening to customer feedback. As they continue to expand their offerings, I hope to see a broader selection of organic, gluten-free, and keto products in the future.
In conclusion, Trader Joe's in Newton is a wonderful grocery store with plenty to offer in terms of variety, quality, and overall shopping experience. The atmosphere is inviting, the staff is attentive, and the unique selection of products is worth exploring. However, it loses a star due to the limited choices for those seeking organic, gluten-free, and keto items. If you're looking for a fun and enjoyable grocery shopping experience, Trader Joe's is still a top-notch option, but those with specific dietary needs might need to supplement their shopping with visits to other specialty stores.
Found this as a halfway spot for breakfast with my mom. It was hands down the best breakfast!!!!! I got the choose 4 - scrambled eggs, homemade corn beef hash, home fries, and French toast. My mom got the Flouretine omelette w feta cheese and it was amazing! They had gluten free bread and homefries. We had Kris and she was absolutely amazing!!! Very attentive and just did amazing!!!! Definitely can't wait to go back!!!!
Just okay. For gluten free and dairy free Blaze is a better option. The pizza was bland and didnt have much topping on it. For the price I've had better. I can't comment on the regular pizza since I cant eat it 🤷♀️
Amazing place with delicious food and a great atmosphere! It’s well-worth checking out. The wait staff were really friendly as well. There are plenty of naturally gluten-free and vegan dishes to choose from, and their mango lassi is delicious with a vindaloo dish!
You don't go to the Farm Grill for the atmosphere but for the excellent food. Their grilled meats and seafood are the specialties. My granddaughter is allergic to gluten and the lamb and chicken kebabs are her favorite! They also have great lamb or chicken gyros that include a side Greek salad. There is a full menu of Greek appetizers and desserts as well.
Tom’s is our local pizza and sub shop, and it’s one of our favorite spots for dinner - we usually place an order every week or every other week.
The homemade tzatziki is always a hit (great with the Buffalo cauliflower bites), as is the pizza. We usually have to order one gluten-free crust (allergy related) and they’re great about avoiding contamination.
I usually enjoy the healthy food at B.Good. The customer service is great. I think I only had one poor experience out of countless visits, but this never happened at the Newton location. My only suggestion for the food is for the company to find a better gluten free hamburger bun. It breaks apart while eating which can become very messy.
Safe if you have celiac. Just let them know at the beginning when you're placing your order and they'll change their gloves and wipe down the line for you.
The food here is absolutely amazing. The pastas and pizza are fantastic- plus they offer some of the best gluten free pizza I've ever had. Took off a star because GF pizza is only available for dine in, the service is usually bad (yes, bad), and it's very loud and hard to hear inside.
Did an excellent job catering for our Christmas party! The staff was super friendly and took great care of us. Nice variety of food too, even had gluten free options for our team.
My organization held a 20-person staff dinner in Social's private event space recently, and I was completely blow away by the experience. Bill Costa worked with us in the weeks leading up to the event to help us plan a really lovely event, including working with us to design a custom multi-course menu with our logo on it. There were plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free menu options, and we were told the chef could take a request for a vegan dish to cover our vegan staff as well. The private event space was spacious and nicely isolated from the rest of the restaurant; the food and drinks were quality; the price was excellent; and the service was truly above and beyond. Staff appreciated the free validated parking, and it was especially convenient for our staff who were staying at the Four Points hotel. It was a five star experience in every way, and for a fraction of the price we would have paid elsewhere. I really cannot say enough good things!
Portions are large and the cinnamon knots are delicious!! One member of our group noted that the gluten free pizza crust was the best part, and was pleasantly surprised by it. We came with a large group and the food all came out swiftly. The staff members were accommodating and very friendly, and helped rearrange the tables for us to all sit together. They wouldn’t hear of us putting the furniture back ourselves before leaving— each of them was incredibly hospitable!
BEYOND the best place for breakfast and lunch! It is family owned by the most kind-hearted and down to earth family. The food is exceptionally delicious, the place is very well run and they offer gluten free bread for those with allergies! You will never be disappointed with a meal. The coffee is amazing as well with so many different flavor options and coffee cubes!
Good service, and the food came out fast even during a busy lunch hour. A bit better taste and quality than your typical diner, which was a pleasant surprise.
You'll get better hummus and falafel here than you would at some dedicated Mediterranean places in the area.
They do have plenty of gluten free options for the folks who need that, too.
Amazing! The best brunch I’ve had in a long time. The gluten free waffles are to die for! They definitely have something for everyone. Vegan, gluten free, dairy free, diabetic.. you name it.
I like the hot bar though there was not enough meat choices on this Wednesday 6pm: only meat ball and picked mushroom chicken. Hot soup bar seemed to have good non-gluten options.
Cold bar is good.
Prices are still high, but fruit choices are nice too!
They have one of the best Gluten-Free pizza I tried so far!!
Service was excellent! After I placed an online order for a later pick-up I had to change it and pick up right away - they accommodated with no issue whatsoever and were super nice about it.
Our special request (light sauce) was accounted for and the pizza was made perfectly!
Price is super reasonable and if you sign up and order online you get a discount!
Highly recommended! :)
I went here to pick up empanadas to take to friends. As someone with Celiac, imagine my surprise when they offered gluten free versions of their classic beef and chicken. I was informed these are not always available though. I hope I am able to taste some of their other flavors in the future.
When you hear people talk about Blue Ribbon BBQ at a coffee shop an hour and a half away, you know that their food is good.
I recommend anything there. Food allergies should be taken special attention too. They have a graph that shows what recipes have gluten, dairy, soy, and other common allergens in their foods.
Congratulations on being some of the best in the business!
Incredible value, delicious and really fresh food, and a very warm environment from the family that runs it. We especially appreciated their attention to detail when accommodating one of our gluten allergies. We’ll be repeat customers!
I rally loved this place! The food and atmosphere were so good! I'm gluten free (celiac), and had no problem with the food I ate. The gluten free food is clearly marked on the menu, and there are a good number of options. I told the waitress I had a gluten allergy. I would definitely eat here again!
We just moved to the neighborhood and wanted to try a restaurant in the area after a long day. Little did we know we found our new fav. restaurant!
The service was amazing from owner/ chef Dave, our server Kate, and the bartender.
All drinks and food to die for! As someone with celiac (gluten free), I also want to make note of how safe I felt eating here. I asked what I could/ could not eat and our server Kate was extremely knowledgeable on the menu and allergens.
Already can’t wait to go back! Absolutely phenomenal all around.
