***Not celiac safe!***
I was very excited to try this restaurant because of all of the GF options on their menu including fried green tomatoes, calamari and loaded sweat potato tots! I was in the middle of placing my order when I found out that ALL of the fried items marked GF are cooked in a shared fryer with everything else. I contacted the restaurant because this is very misleading and was told by the owner that their GF items are more for people with a preference. I told her that once you put these items in a shared fryer they are no longer GF and this could cause someone with celiac to be very sick. She explained that they have a disclaimer that they do not have a separate space for cooking gluten and thought that was fine. I have never been to a restaurant that lists fried items as GF unless they have a separate fryer. I hope no one gets sick from this place. My grain bowl came out with crunchy chickpeas which I had to return after I asked again about the shared fryer. They were cooked in that shared fryer.
Amazing crepes, sweet and savory. I haven't had crepes in years and clearly been missing out. The gluten free crepe was wonderful and the coffee was good too. This is a cute, quirky place going on the revisit list when we're in town again!
Such a cute spot with friendly staff and delicious food! Brought our son for breakfast and it was the perfect place to go. Plenty of options on the menu whether you like classics or stuff more interesting. They also have good gluten free choices on the menu. Fun drink choices, too! Only here for one more day and may come back tomorrow just to experience lunch - that's how much we loved it!
Stopped by for a quick breakfast on our way to a hike. I wish they had a gluten free biscuit, but enjoyed a tasty smoothie. Partner had a breakfast sandwich on a biscuit and is still talking about it. Loved it so much we went back the next day. Thanks!
Super clean amazing staff and service yummy food there is a side overflow parking lot that was hard to see at first but it wasn’t crowded when we went so we had no trouble with parking or getting a table!❤️ would definitely eat here multiple times again They make there own tortillas and many gluten free options. Food was authentic with many options that will suit the whole fam. Was concerned about the salsa from previous reviews but it was super delicious!
Brisket was very good. Loved that they offered a bakery style gluten free bun instead of a packaged bun. The potato salad was not very good. The sauce was very runny and the potatoes were not cooked all the way, leaving a crunch.
We eat there several times each summer, beginning about 2006-7-ish. We’ve never been disappointed in the food or service! The inn is beautiful, historic, impressive yet cozy so the ambiance is great. There are nice options for outdoor and indoor dining. The duck is absolutely amazing! I don’t remember ever having anything that wasn’t really good. I have to be gluten-free, but my husband doesn’t, and we’ve both always been very pleased with the menu options.
I recently visited this restaurant and had an amazing experience. The burger was top notch and the ranch dressing was out of this world. Gluten free pizza was really good. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and I appreciated the variety of premade salads and meals available. All premade items have clear allergy info on the packaging. I will definitely be back!
I’ve eaten at Café Violette more than ten times and always had a great experience until now. This visit was incredibly disappointing. I clearly told our server about my gluten allergy, but she didn’t write it down and later brought us a pasta dish. We didn’t realize the mistake right away. When we brought it up, the manager said some people think Italian pasta is safe. That’s not just wrong, it’s dangerous.
The lack of awareness and accountability was shocking. We won’t be back, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone with dietary restrictions. The food used to be worth the price, but unfortunately, that’s no longer the case.
