I loved everything about this place!! As a diner with celiac disease there were several options and my server and the team were very intentional about handling my dietary restriction with care. The atmosphere was great! The decor was like a mini buffet for the eyes. The food was absolutely delicious too.
The food was fantastic. We ordered 2 different crepes but with buckwheat as one of us have celiacs. They took the allergy seriously which was much appreciated and the food was much better than we expected considering they were suing buckwheat as the alternative.
Will definitely be eating here again when we visit.
Loved that they are open a little late so when you’re in more of a breakfast for dinner mood they have options available.
great experience, every time! i’ve been going here pretty consistently for a few years, and the food and service has always stood out to me. i’m gluten and nut free, and they are very accommodating and willing to help you out. the food is also amazing- the best burger i’ve had!
A place that advertises an entirely separate GF oven and has vegan cheese sounds perfect for our family. But their GF dough is made of wheat starch, which is NOT sufficiently free of protein for many with celiac and anyone with allergies. No sense having a dedicated space if you are using ingredients that quite possibly contain gluten (speaking as a health professional who has done the research on wheat starch ppm of gluten). Only other item available for me on the menu was a $10 "salad" of just greens...which came salted?!...and the salty cured meat appetizers. Huge huge let down. Please avoid if you are wheat or gluten free.
Amazing on all fronts. Tons of dishes that are/can be vegan and/or gluten free. Do not miss the mock eel; I was skeptical but i promise you will be happy. I can’t even remember everything we ordered but every dish was delicious and had a unique flair. It was fun to have it family style and try so many things!
Two stars bc my dairy/egg/nut allergy daughter was able to have ice cream here during her month-long stay in VT. No more than that, though, because B&J as a company haven't figured out yet that people with allergies often have more than one. Why make multiple dairy-free ice creams and add wheat into every one of them? It's beyond illogical. A simple dairy-free chocolate, or geez use GF oreos, and you are all set. Instead, there's nothing even at the VT locations for people allergic to two top allergens: wheat and dairy (notably, the two most common triggers of adult EoE as well, and frequently problematic for people with celiac also). Sorbet is not ice cream. Please don't use that as an excuse.
This place is a treasure. Family owned and run, fantastic food at fair prices. The soup broths are all first rate. They are very gluten free friendly. My son has celiac and has enjoyed the food here several times.
This place is heaven, for meat and non meat eaters! Im celiac and vegan and they took SUCH amazing care of us - M and Kaleb are so kind and wonderful, weve come back three times in ten days. We could not recommend more!!!
After our delightful first visit, my wife and I knew we had to come back to Istanbul Kebab House for a proper meal. Last week, we decided to turn our date night into something special with dinner at this Turkish gem followed by a Broadway musical, Newsies, at the Flynn Center. We made a reservation in advance, as this spot is quite popular in the evenings - especially when there's a play happening nearby.
The ambiance was inviting and warm, with soft lighting and traditional Turkish decor creating a perfect setting for a romantic evening. The service was exceptional, and our server, Alexandra B., made the experience even more memorable with his attentiveness and friendly demeanor.
We started with the Small Meze Platter ($16.99), an excellent choice for sharing. The platter featured haydari, hummus, babaganoush, Turkish salsa, and stuffed grape leaves, all served with soft lavash bread. For those seeking a gluten-free option, fresh-cut veggie sticks are available. Each dip and spread was bursting with flavor, making this a must-try appetizer.
For the main course, I chose from the Earthenware Casseroles and ordered the Lamb Guvec ($27.99). The tender, marinated lamb pieces combined with tomato, mushroom, onion, pepper, and eggplant were served sizzling hot, and the aroma alone was irresistible. It was hearty, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the recommended 9oz glass of Vinkara red wine ($16.50).
My wife selected the Chicken Adana Kebab ($22.99) from the Traditional Kebabs menu. The mildly spicy, hand-ground chicken seasoned with Turkish maraş pepper and parsley was grilled to perfection and served with Turkish rice pilav, a side of greens, house pickled red cabbage, and marinated onions. She enjoyed every bite and complemented her meal with a 9oz glass of Ancyra white wine ($16.50), which was light and refreshing.
To close the evening, we indulged in a classic Turkish dessert, Baklava ($9.99). The layers of fresh phyllo, walnuts, and crushed pistachios, finished with a simple syrup, were the perfect sweet ending to our meal.
Istanbul Kebab House continues to impress with its excellent food, cozy ambiance, and impeccable service. Whether it’s a casual dinner or a special occasion, this restaurant is a must-visit in Burlington. We’ll definitely be back again!
My Husband and I rarely go out to eat, but this restaurant is worth every penny. Very knowledgeable servers who offer recommendations for every food allergy (I have Celiac- plenty of options). The food is incredible and comes in smaller shareable dishes.
Make sure you order the Tahini Sundae to top off your experience, you won’t regret it!!
BKK is absolutely wonderful. The drinks are incredible, and Jenny (one of the co-owners) is always coming up with new delicious drinks to try. The food is also incredible, and as someone with Celiac, the food options are excellent and Bobby (the other co-owner) knows exactly which dishes are safe for me to eat. Would recommend to anyone who would listen.
We tried 6 different items and shared, family style. They were they were all phenomenal!! The smorgasbord of vegan & gluten free items were amazing! With many food sensitivities & allergies, I cannot often enjoy unique cuisine like a real “foodie” & we were all wowed by the creativity & ingenuity of Chef Paul. It was super busy, so Paul pulled up tables & made more space. We sat in the window & It was like being transported to Parkslope, Brooklyn in Burlington’s Old North End. Ending the night with a blueberry vegan creemee was the most delicious surprise!
The Gryphon is a GEM. Earlier in the day it is quiet, reliably open (this is special in VT), and attentively and knowledgeably staffed (you will adore Alex; his incredible experience is evident in how he tends to each guest).
The food is comforting and so impressively well executed, you'd think the chef should be on the Food Network. Who doesn't love an approachable and concise menu of items they know how to do well every time?!?!
The environment is a perfect balance of old world class meets comfortable open lounge with creatively delicious cocktails and staff committed to finding the perfect meal or drink even if an adjustment is going to help you enjoy the experience better based on your personal flavor/food/ingredient preferences.
My partner and I cannot eat gluten (not celiac) and are infinitely appreciative of a well done menu with GF options readily available.
I wish I had known about The Gryphon before living in downtown BTV because it would have been a worthy destination for a friend gathering, however, better late than never, and I am very thankful and fulfilled every time I visit!
We ordered the gluten free pizza. I clearly stated that it should be moderately cooked. It was received overcooked: the bacon and bottom crust were blacken. Regardless of my specific request, the pizza should not have been served... it is a shame since the atmosphere is respectable
Fantastic Cuban food and it is such a unique dining experience for a place like Burlington. We made a reservation and it was a fairly busy Thursday night. The wait staff were knowledgeable and kind. It was a fairly large menu with lots of options. The water glasses were tiny. I would guess somewhere between 4 and 6 fluid ounces. We ordered the three chips app to start. Could tell it was house made and it was fresh and delicious but it was very small little pieces that made it harder to enjoy. We ordered the Creole shrimp with Maduros and tostones with yellow rice. The savory plantains and the sweet plantains are one of my favorite dishes and such a rare occasion allows for me to have them. These plantains did not disappoint and were cooked to perfection. The sauce on the shrimp was incredible and the rice, shrimp and sauce combo was a flavor paradise. We also got the vegan Cubano which was a little disappointing. Still we are very glad to see vegan options at all but it wasn't anything special. The menu said vegan Cubano sandwich but the default bread was not vegan (at least according to our waitress). To make it vegan you needed to ask for this other bread that they had that was also gluten free. So it was an extra 2 dollars to make the "vegan" sandwich actually vegan. Nonetheless the dinner experience was great as was the food and atomosphere. We will definitely return although it may be some time as the prices are on the higher end. If you enjoy Cuban food it is a place you should certainly try.
I used to come here for the savory biscuits, but now that I have had to make the switch to gluten free, I come for the GF tea cake and GF scone. Seriously impressive. You get to eat a breakfast treat that you wouldn't know was gluten free had it not been labeled as such.
Very delicious food! My group and I stumbled upon this gem by chance, and we’re so glad we did.
The staff members were knowledgeable about the menu and assisted the vegan and gluten free guests, making wonderful accommodations. Our gluten free friend LOVED the Chicken Korma. We were all able to dine with confidence , knowing there was something special for everyone to enjoy. We will definitely be dining here again!
Great chill out and read or study place. The waffleberry coffee is just epic. Also! The gluten-free baked goods are so good. I usually have to opt out of food at cafe’s so I seriously appreciate the effort and quality.
Huge shout out to Mo and the rest of the staff at the Burlington Pokeworks! We stopped in for lunch and were greeted and treated with the best service! They took our need for gluten free seriously and accommodated all my daughter’s needs. The service was exceptional and the food delicious. We even popped back in before heading out and they let us use the restroom. Pokeworks Burlington is a must visit!!
Love this place especially their brunch on Sunday! They have gluten free and vegan options which can be so hard to find! Their gluten free waffle is amazing as are all their breakfast sandwiches. Highly recommend checking them out whether you’re vegan, gluten free or a meat love. You won’t be disappointed!
My family got hot pot here for my dad’s birthday and everything was excellent. We got the scallion pancakes and crispy chicken wings as appetizers and shared 3 main courses (pork belly, mixed seafood, and vegetable platter). They accommodated allergies (gluten, dairy, eggs, nuts) well— for example, the vegetable platter comes with mung bean noodles instead of udon.
Gorgeous presentation, lovely food, excellent service, & nice of the chef to stop by our table to say hello. Prix Fixe menu had a lot of wonderful options including gluten free dishes available.
Poutine, speciality Gose and some of their IPA’s were fantastic! Service great, it is odd that they charge you 25¢ for a taster, and don’t let you pick your own flights. Their pre-set flights are very expensive. No gluten free beer options.
Gender neutral bathrooms and plenty of parking.
A great place to hang out and just relax, good food and drink, and a huge game selection!
The staff was great and they have gluten free options, which is a huge win for me. I ordered The King PB&J (amazing, btw), and the server asked if the gf bread could be toasted on the grill with the regular bread or if it needed a new surface. That's a huge win in my book for food allergies since I feel this level of detail isn't as common as I'd wish.
I will definitely be making trips here a regular thing!
Finally had a meal here after driving past it everyday eating to haha. The food was absolutely divine, just great use of seasoning and flavor compliments. The drinks were great, my partner got the espresso martini- and it was the best she’s ever had. I’m celiac and the staff was super accommodating, barely even an issue. Though the food is nice and it’s an upscale place, the vibe of the servers and staff is friendly, so you feel really comfortable in here! Didn’t even feel like Burlington, it was just a little escape. I gave the atmosphere 4 stars because the bar is very loud and for a date, getting sat right next to the bar wasn’t ideal. Couldn’t hear each other or the wait staff- thankfully I said something, and they were extremely accommodating. They moved me and my girlfriend to the elevated dining area, which was just perfect. The food came out super quick which is amazing and every staff member I ran into was just really friendly. It’s more than a kind place- it’s a real family atmosphere. Will be back- many times!
This place is an absolute delight. Went in on a bitterly cold Saturday night and was sat right away (which makes me sad because I wish they were busier). The prices are soooooo reasonable! I ordered veg pakora and chicken tikka masala and my dinner came out to $25 with a drink. My friend tried the tandoori chicken which was so unbelievably good. The servers were so friendly, and were knowledgeable about food allergies (gluten specifically) which made me feel safe about eating there. I’d say eating in is the better option, I’d ordered takeout from here before and forgot that I had done so lol but the dine-in food fresh and hot knocked my socks off. Can’t wait to go back.
Have been here several times, the menu does change somewhat for different events/ time of year, there’s a consistent offering that is always available so keep an eye out for those temporary offerings.
The atmosphere is wonderful and the staff has always been very friendly and welcoming no matter if it’s packed or slow. This place can become packed so wait times for seating and service can suffer but the staff tries their best to accommodate, they are always willing to answer any questions or address any concerns.
There are some limited gluten free accommodations.
Lots of cheap public parking nearby, assortment of on street/off street and garages- look for the big blue P signs if you’re not using your google maps.
Shout out to our server Oliva, that chocolate mousse was awesome, thanks again for the great service! 👏 👏 👏
Great place right on the water. Clam chowder was amazing. Had a nut and gluten allergy kid with us. Handled allergies very well. Would definitely go back there.
This food was so good and they were able to accommodate my requests for gluten-free and dairy-free food. The dishes smelled incredible and I was delighted that they tasted even better! Spice level, salt level, and the whole bouquet of flavors was all very impressive and great.
Delight is a great name for this place! Highly recommend.
Caring atmosphere and fast, friendly service. A good restaurant to chat with friends. We shared the samosas, shrimp curry🍤, Malia korma, lamb🐑 and another vegetarian meal. 🥗 We asked for gluten-free and vegan meals. Everything was delicious!! 🤤
Welcoming environment and fast service with kindness. A restaurant perfect for catching up with old friends and chatting. We shared shrimp curry, 🍤 a lamb dish, samosas 🐑 vegetable dish, 🥗 and makai korma. Everything was delicious!! 🤤

THANKS! Thank you!! 🤤 🍛
Very sweet staff. The sun chokes were pretty good, the steak was pretty good also but honestly tasted kind of like pepperoni and overpowered what I enjoy in a steak. Distinctly lacking in interesting gluten free or non-alcoholic options. Very good ambiance.
Great place for a healthy sit down breakfast or lunch!! Smoothies, scrambles, sandwiches, gluten free and vegetarian/vegan options. Surf vibes, but a warm welcome to all crowds here, as long as the vibes are good! There's some hidden gems across the restaurant. A customizable letter board by one table, open garage doors in summer, bright natural light at each table, a bar for quicker service or longer stays or an afternoon brew, chalkboard specials, a fish tank in the dining area, straws by request, and surfboards everywhere!
