My family and I went to Lisa G’s on July 4th. We ended up ordering 3 burgers and a 14oz ribeye steak from their special Independence Day menu. Burgers were all well cooked and delicious. Unfortunately, the steak, which is not usually on their menu, was inedible due to the insanely elevated sodium level. The portion was generous, the steak was perfectly cooked, but the salt levels were beyond what a normal person would be able to withstand. Even the mash potatoes were unbelievably salty, and had they not been, it might have been able to balance out the saltiness of the steak. Unfortunately, our server was quite busy and after dropping off our plates, didn’t come back to see us for close to 15 minutes. By that time, everyone was practically done their meal and by the time he checked up on my meal, took it back, brought me a menu, came back to take my order, put in the order, and I received my second meal (shrimp tacos), we’re talking a good 35-40min. Needless to say, I watched my entire table eat and then they watched me eat, which took away any enjoyment of my food that evening. Shrimp tacos were okay, and the fries that came with them were so heavily salted. At that point I wasn’t really hungry anymore and left practically the entirety of my fries on the plate. Also to note, the fries that came with one of the burgers were not hot and they brought back some new fries. However, they took already cooked fries and refried them, resulting in a bowl of fries completely dark and oily (I worked at New York Fries years ago so I know exactly what they did, which to me is unacceptable and a cheap shortcut to “heating up” fries, which just turns them inedible). I can forgive the inedible steak, especially since it’s a dish that’s not usually on the menu, and they might not have balanced the steak spices with the sodium content of the demi-glaze that they made. However, the saltiness of the mash potatoes and of the corn on the side (which I didn’t even taste because I could see the large salt cristal on them), is difficult to understand how all these components were not noticed by the chef before sending that plate out. Also, my shrimp tacos and fries should have taken no more than 5-7min to send out, and should have been fired right away, and it clearly wasn’t. Also, taking ready made fries and refrying them is unprofessional and should have never left the kitchen. When we got the bill, we were told that I was not charged for my steak (which I took a total of 3 bites total and shouldn’t have been charged for anyways). I won’t go too much into details, but the manager was made to believe that I didn’t enjoy the steak, to which I had to explain the problem with the dish and how long it took to receive a replacement main, on top of eating alone and having watched everyone eat beforehand. He was very professional and checked with the kitchen before coming back to us and making it right - which we really appreciated. I think there was a serious problem with the quality control on the kitchen side that night, as well as one with service. Had our server come check on our dishes after a reasonable amount of time, I could have had a replacement dish that I could have enjoyed with my family, despite it coming a bit later. I understand that he was very busy, and it just unfortunately happened that there was a problem with my dish. Kitchen wise, the heaviness of the salting was beyond reasonable, even on the fries, and refrying fries to reheat them is a little insulting. The lack of making sure that the components of a dish are of quality is just unfortunate. The restaurant was however very accommodating to a gluten allergy and made us feel very comfortable with understanding celiac disease. That was a huge plus and having that party eat comfortably and not getting sick afterwards is worth visiting that restaurant if you suffer from a gluten allergy. I have mixed feelings leaving Lisa G’s. I can’t tell if the pros outweighed the cons, but could still recommend it if you come to Lake Placid.

We had to wait about 30 minutes for a Saturday late morning seat and ended up sitting at the bar (totally fine with that!) I have to follow a strict gluten free diet and my oh my this place is a GEM! Our bartender said she also has celiac disease and the kitchen has a dedicated fryer for the hash browns (YAY!!!!). I had so many options to choose from. Absolutely amazing place!

I'm a Celiac and had Leslie as our waitress. She took my gluten free very seriously. The brisket was fantastic and would go back again soon.

I've been here a few times over the years, the most recent time being this past weekend during the rugby tournament. We had to wait a bit for a table, but with good reason because it was all delicious and the service was great! Love the gluten free and dairy free/vegan options too!

I have been wanting to try this place for years and wouldn’t go back. They had a recent remodel which makes the outside look great compared to the old look. Service was terrible! Our waitress was terrible! She paid more attention to the table next to us that had 8+ people at it than her other three tables. We started with drinks they took more than ten minutes to come out. She made a point to come over and tell us the bartender hadn’t made them yet but she would be happy to take our food order. Just prior to ordering I watched the table of 8+ next to us order the same drink I did times 3 and they came out in under 5 minutes. Our food was ok, my salmon was dry and cold. The reduction on top tasted like strawberries not lavender and lemon. I had less than a scoop of mashed potatoes and two whole brussel sprouts with a single half cut cherry tomato on my plate. My husband ordered the Cuban and his food was also cold, very small portion of fries. I would give it another try however the gluten free options are minimal. Prices seemed high for what we received.

I cannot eat gluten or do cross contamination and had an excellent experience. The staff is knowledgeable and most of the menu is safe or can be made so. The exception is the macaroni and cheese (which for the kids/non gf people is a good portion considering it’s a tapas style restaurant). My husband and I shared the absolutely amazing duck fat fried chicken wings and the delicious Greek plate with fabulous hummus. He had the pita (not gf) and I was given some nice rice crackers. Lots of fun and creative cocktails. Great food and service!

I ordered the gluten free pizza. It was a pre-made flat, crispy crust but the sauce and cheese were great. Service a friendly and fast.

Update: we notified the server of a severe gluten allergy and we had to bring our friend to the emergency room. When we called to notify the restaurant they dodged us and said “how do you know it was our food?” The food was great but the service was lacking. The hostess didn’t want to seat us even though there were open tables. She vaguely said to come back in 20-25 minutes and said she couldn’t take our names down. Luckily there were bar chairs available so we chose to sit there. We noticed every party got seated after us and when we asked to move to an open table the hostess said she had to ask if there was a reservation even though she couldn’t take a reservation from us. This table we asked to be seated at remained open for the duration of our stay…

Five stars all the way! From the second we were greeted at the host table, to being sat and our orders taken to the food delivery and attention....just all amazing! I have a gluten and tree nut allergy so I ordered "off menu" and the chef was able to prepare something for my dietary restrictions. My Boyfriend got the Fish which was melt in your mouth perfect and fresh! We had dined the night before in town and it was so disappointing that we decided to "splurge" and treat ourselves to a quality meal at the Mirror Lake Inn. The Inn itself was decorated gorgeous, like out of a Hallmark movie so a lot of nice spots to get selfies or photos. We asked the host to take our photo in front of the Valentine's Day tree and he kindly obliged. We will be back! Also, PS - the Macaroons at the end of the meal were great and also gluten free which I appreciated!
