Risotteria Melotti is such a cute spot in NYC. All of the risottos are gluten-free, which was great for dining with my Celiac girlfriend.
Inside, it’s a small but intimate space. It feels almost like you’re dining in someone’s home because the kitchen is so close by.
For my meal, I had the calcio and pepe risotto. It was delicious and extremely filling. After that, I absolutely had to have the tiramisu for dessert. I love tiramisu and this was no different. With the large portions, I could’ve shared my dessert, but my girlfriend wanted the Nutella crepe, which was also delicious.
Overall, I highly recommend coming here.
Happened to pass by this adorable gluten-free crepe shop and was surprised to find the best crepe I’ve ever had! (And I’m not even gluten-free.) Definitely a must try when visiting the East Village!
Ten years ago, I wished for a 100 percent celiac-safe, 100 percent gluten free restaurant with incredible food, nearby. (I even wished for cloth napkins.)This gem opened up and my prayers were answered. It's the perfect place for anyone wanting consistently delicious food. Risotto, arancini, and don't get me started on the tiramisu... Italian feasts, warm, sexy ambience, kind staff. The chef is a culinary wizard. It's a trip to Italy, a block from the 9th precinct.

Yuck. The worst pasta bolognese I ever tried and terrible gluten free rigatoni. I couldn’t eat it. The mixed greens salad was just okay. It’s a very noisy place and the female hostess working that evening had a bad attitude. She didn’t want to seat me at a two top table while eating alone. There were tables available. If you want excellent Italian food this is not where you go.
staff were very helpful and accommodating. great selection of vegan and gluten free options and were super great with allergies. busy but wouldn’t notice at all because the service was spot on! would recommend!
Love the place. Only time I was surprised was when I ordered vegan lasagna and it also turned out to be gluten free. But that's my fault for not reading the menu correctly.
Wow, I have missed this place! And I'm so happy to say that the food is even better now. It was always good, but there are some great additions to the menu. The creamy ramen and the cashew cream lemon pasta were both decadent and delicious. Also gluten free! I was really looking forward to the avo-coconut soup and it was just as fresh and luscious as I remembered. The raw coconut bread was a great addition. I think Enrique was our server and he knows service!! He's delightful and attentive. The live piano music on the Saturday we went was so lovely. And the bathrooms are much brighter with white walls and better lighting than the old days, though the interesting and mysterious vibe is still intact throughout the restaurant. This place is a classic NY gem and we are so lucky to still have them. Already planning my next road trip back.
I had a delicious meal here (and ended with a bad dessert) I ordered the pad Thai and ginger salmon. The pad Thai was creamy and deeply flavorful. The veggies had the perfect bite while being soft and blending well with the pasta and the peanut sauce was very balanced. I’d give this dish an 8.3. The salmon was great as well but did have a slightly fishy flavor and I felt like the sauce was just put on top after rather than cooked in - 6.8. For dessert I ordered the chocolate mousse and I just did not enjoy it. There was no depth in flavor and the texture was weird. 5.1. I still desired a sweet treat so I got the blueberry chocolate chip muffin (I thought it sounded like an interesting combination) and it was the worst muffin I have ever had. Truly. It was gluten free like all their desserts and it fell apart immediately, was just so crumbly in the worst way - 3.2. The service was amazing (they even took the mousse off my bill) and it was a very nice atmosphere with great vibes! Even though I had a mixed experience, I will definitely be back!
Best best best place ever in general but especially if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies. The food is always so yummy and never lacking even with so many things I request to leave out (gluten, oil sometimes salt, sometimes vinegar, etc). Also so kind. My favorite is the pumpkin hummus!! I’m even doing my bachelorette party dinner here!
Lovely bar/restaurant with outside/sidewalk seating and (weather permitting) wide open front allowing fresh air and the city vibe.
Grab a seat under the awning and you can people watch while you eat and drink.
The food was excellent as we're the drinks. The staff were friendly and super attentive. Two separate managers also made a total of 3 check-ins just to make sure we had everything, which we did.
Our celiac diner was easily accommodated and the server knowledgeable about what was gluten-safe including cross-contamination (separate fryer for fries yay) and noted that all GF dishes come with little red flags.
The food wasn't bad - I like that there are plenty of vegan proteins to choose from and lots of them could be gluten-free. I got the Just Egg omelette with some vegan cheese and veggies. (Forgot to tell them that I didn't want toast but I just didn't eat it.) Nice and filling, tasted decent (though could have used more seasoning or even just a bit of salt).
Then I saw MOUSE run across the base of the wall.
Yes, I get that it's probably difficult to avoid rodents in these older buildings even if you're not a restaurant. But it's made me hesitate wanting to go back.
A beautiful restaurant to celebrate my daughter’s success in a recent theatre production .. she is vegan with gluten intolerance. This is the perfect place it’s cozily small and the service is perfect . All the staff are knowledgeable on the dishes and very proud of their fare . They are Happy to recommend plates as well which is always a good sign if you’re stuck . Although the toasts are not gluten free they are happy to switch to a gluten free option.. We were told that it would be great to order 2 to three dishes each and then share .. which was a great idea because we love to try new things and all the dishes sounded great. We didn’t do pudding but I did finish with a ginger style grog which was perfect ..
If you can’t manage all because you’re worried you will fill up for the next plate they are happy to wrap so you can take away .. which is great . Definitely recommend to the vegan vegetarian or anyone interested in pushing their culinary discoveries .
Wonderful food and a lot of fun. We all left stuffed and happy. Staff was helpful and unintrusive, even when we lingered for 2 hours. Menu includes gluten free and vegan options. Allergen menus are posted above the sauce bar.
The food was very tasty. However, I ordered gluten free pasta, which is only available in one shape at this location, fusilli, and found two pieces of spaghetti in my dish. This means that there was severe cross-contamination, likely cooking the GF pasta in the same pasta water as regular, full-gluten, pasta (I have worked in restaurants, I know how pasta is typically prepared in these environments). There is no point offering gluten free pasta if they are going to clearly and irresponsibly cross contaminate like that, especially since they're charging extra money. It's great that they offer the GF option so people with Celiac disease, like myself, can have more options to eat out with friends, but you endanger customers by using the same pasta water - the dish is no longer gluten free. Luckily, I did not get sick, but that's not a reason to continue with this unsafe practice. If changes are not made, there is no point offering, or claiming that there is, the GF pasta option.
Excellent falafel, top notch for a take-out joint. The salad is a nice mix of lettuce, onions, pickles, would be nice with some more diverse greens or some mint but maybe make that an add-on. Lots of tahini dressing. Works for gluten free and vegan diets (they do serve meat here as well)
This is one of my favorite places to dine at in NYC. The food is great and very unique. We got the dry pot and the rice noodles with veggies, and the Brussels sprouts as a starter. Everything was sauced very well, and there were a lot of gluten-free, spicy, and non-spicy options. The starter options are also all very unique, although a little pricier
I went here for a small gathering celebrating one of my favourite beer brands, Back Home!
The food was super tasty and allergen friendly. My best friend who is gluten free had plenty of options that were so so yummy!
It's also a plus that they carry Back Home Beer!
We sat at the bar which was plenty spacious and comfy. The space overall is tight but it didn't feel like it. The decor is modern and beautiful. Can't wait to go back!
Everyone is super sweet, my husband is gluten free and he was more than happy for the options. Food is delicious, we r definately coming back when in NYC ❤️
Always busy here it seems but well worth getting a table inside or outside if you wish.
Some wonderfully tasty options, with good size portions. So busy though that my table of four guests all felt guilty to sit there afterwards to enjoy the moment, as the queue was building up outside!
Veggie and gluten free options, always good to discover!
A hidden gem in the east village. Food is experimental and delicious to eat. The Hawaiian Asian fusion food is very unique and rare to find in the city.
The gluten-free fried chicken is a must go for anyone who has dietary restrictions. It is crispy, juicy and delicious.
Szechuan Bolognese is quite an interesting combination of Chinese and Italian cuisine.
Heritage pork chop is a very delicious too.
Not to mention the dessert!! The brûlée Hawaiian pineapple and the Chocolate Haupia Sundae are too good to miss!
I love the intimate environment. Small space without too much pretentious. The service is superb. You can tell the staff generally care about if their customers have a good time there. Very spontaneous, very friendly and very observable. Will come back again!

As out-of-town visitors, we stumbled upon a true gem in Luthun. This restaurant exceeded all expectations with a captivating tasting menu that showcased a global fusion of flavors. Each dish was an exquisite symphony of tastes, aromas and textures, leaving us utterly enchanted. The constant flow of creative courses made for an unforgettable culinary experience.
The value offered was exceptional, making it one of the most rewarding tasting menus we've encountered. The staff was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable, providing insightful explanations for each delectable creation. The chef himself went above and beyond, personally thanking us for dining at Luthun and making us feel like valued guests. His warm personality and genuine appreciation were truly heartwarming.
The restaurant's dedication to detail was evident in every aspect, from the meticulous changing of silverware between courses to their accommodating approach to dietary needs (they seamlessly handled my mother's gluten-free request).
Luthun is a must-visit for anyone seeking a truly exceptional dining experience. Thank you, Luthun, for the gastronomic journey that tantalized our taste buds. You made our New York trip truly special. We'll always remember these delicious memories.
Lovely servies, super nice waiters and yummy food! I am use to European ‘spicy’ so I was not quite ready for the level of heat 🥵 the food here had, but it was delicious! They also had a Gluten free menu outlining what was ‘safe’ which was awesome! I did not have any cocktails but they looked really good!
Quality spot. Small, compact location but service is very fast and they turn over tables quickly. The food was flavorful and filling, I also got the tropical smoothie which had chunks of lychee in it. We got 2 entree’s and 2 apps, for lack of better words, and each plate came with rice. Chili paste on the side if you want more spice! Their menu is labeled for GF / gluten free items so easy to identify. Large menu with lots of options for picky eaters. I got the chasha shamdey and shapta, some of their most popular items and for good reason. Friend got the Ruthang Momo and Gyathuk Takpa and loved their food as well.
Today I had the pleasure of trying out Momofuku noodle bar, and it was an absolute delight.
The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, helping me with gluten free friendly option. I definitely reccomend the green salad and the ginger scallion. My friend loved the roasted Shiitake buns and the smocked pork ramen. I will come back next time I am in New York.
Delicious, good portions, healthy, and affordable! So happy to have found a danish restaurant. Got the vegetarian sandwich with smoked salmon, potato smorrebrod, and sweet potato “fries”. Also have gluten free options
Fantastic wine bar with a delicious Italian kitchen. A great spot for dinner and drinks. Service was impeccable, Andy took phenomenal care of us. Food was delicious. Totally worth a visit, especially if you are a wine drinker. They also have gluten free pasta and bread available as well as mocktails!
Simply amazing with the ambiance, food was top notch and worth it specially the pizzas and pasta
More also if you wanna get fresh halal chicken must try.
Also can get gluten free pies and pasta.
Suuuch great food!
Every option is great, all vegetarian too ofc. I always get the large rice platter w 3 veg curries, “small” bag pakora, chai, and kheer (rice pudding) and it is all under $20. Incredible. Everything is great- highly suggest the pakora, a “small” bag is actually huge portion for just $3.50, and gluten free as far as I know! (Chickpea flour)
*will say, I love my chai with strong flavor and this isn’t really- it but is still a nice warm drink.
It is a cozy place, good atmosphere and vibe, Elena was super friendly and made us feel at home and best of all she spoke Spanish, I loved the gluten-free beet salad
