First impression was that it smelled terrible, like garbage. That should have been the first red flag. Our Server was very nice, the food itself seemed good at first, but we found a hair cooked into the burger. The hair was found in the last few bits of the burger and they told us there wasn’t anything they could do because most of the burger had been eaten. We never got our appetizer and they got our drinks wrong. Not only that, I have a gluten allergy and my “gluten free” burger made me sick. Will not be coming back and I suggest others do not either.
First off, I want to give props to the employees, because they were genuinely friendly and helpful. I have a gluten allergy so they were able to help me navigate that. But...there were some issues that majorly detracted from our experience. For one, all of the surfaces were sticky. For instance, as we were walking to our table, our shoes were sticking to the floor, and at our table, our food trays were sticking there too. Definitely not pleasant. If we hadn't already ordered, I don't think we would've. Second, the water (from the soda machine) was actually undrinkable. It had a nasty taste and a horrible ring. I took one sip and almost spit it out. My mom had the same issue and she had even used the other dispenser. As far as the food was concerned, these are average tex-mex style tacos (not adding or subtracting points for that) but the guacamole was delicious!
In essence, the customer service couldn't outweigh the unpleasant store conditions, unacceptable water quality, and average at best food. I like the concept of this store; I hope they make improvements.
My wife and I eat here from time to time but with us it's all about timing. Years ago we quit going to dinner the same time the entire town does. When it gets crowded in there, it's very loud, just like any restaurant. We love this place mainly because it has a Gluten Free crust because my wife has Celiac disease. The only problem is, if you are going to serve a gluten free pizza...have gluten free beer available. I feel like we train restaurants in different parts of the country with this issue. Some of them will say "Well, they don't seem to sell very well." The secret is to place a large sign inside that says "Gluten Free Beer Available"..that simple. One pizza place we visited in Florida had the biggest selection of GF Beer in the entire Southeast. They had the entire collection of GLUTENBERG out of Canada. The Red and the Stout are her favorites. I even order it myself sometime. The service is great at Rockin' Dough. We run an Airbnb that is one mile from the Jackson Walk and have Rockin' Dough listed in our book and are about to put a photo of the restaurant up on the wall for our guests. When we get in the mood for pizza..that's our place to go.
They were phenomenal! I have a gluten allergy and they offer a gluten sensitive menu the manager came asked how severe my allergy was and let me know they would take all the extra precautions to make sure my food was safe for me to eat. She came and apologized because it took longer than normal due to the exrs precautions which was not necessary I understand it takes a little extra time. But I would highly recommend this olive garden for anyone with a gluten allergy or in general they were great from the second we walked in the door until we left.
My wife had the Grilled Chicken Club sandwich and I had the Spicy Deluxe chicken sandwich. The fact they offer a Gluten Free bun is why we eat here as my wife has Celiac disease! Both meals were very good!
So worth a little detour off I-40! Came for the rice bowl, then got distracted by cashew queso, gourmet street tacos (no longer an oxymoron) with perfect, not overpowering jerk sauce, and OMG the Brussels sprouts!
Our server and the rest of the staff were so personable and helpful. I was pleasantly surprised that so many items were gluten free!
Definitely adding The Little Bird to my travel itinerary! It’s right on the way between Huntsville and Memphis!
The curried goat is my stand-alone favorite but everything is delicious. I must be gluten-free & I can eat almost everything here except the bread (which makes my husband happy, he gets two) & pasties (meat pies). The cabbage, rice & beans & even the green beans are absolutely delicious! Joseph’s sauces/flavors are wonderful & so is he & his lovely family. We feel so welcome here & will continue coming back again & again.
Visiting from Florida. What a treat! I followed the recommendations of the smiling and friendly staff, and I was impressed with the flavors' combination. Thank you for the gluten friendly options.
My favorites are the ceviche, poblano soup, and the pork chop is always excellent. I had the ribeye recently, and it was tough, I wouldn't order that again. I generally sit on the bar side, which I enjoy. My buddy always orders a pizza, which I think is gluten-free, which he raves about.
The service is spotty, sometimes excellent, and sometimes not so much. Overall, I'd say check it out. It's one of the better restaurants in Jackson.
I liked the food here pretty good, and I was happy that they had one GF pasta option, even though it disintegrated and didn’t taste great. The server could not answer my question about the stuffed mushrooms being gluten free. “I don’t know because they’re, like… covered.”
