After reading glowing reviews, we decided to try SoNapa Grille in New Smyrna Beach. The atmosphere was lovely—inviting and cozy. Initially, we were seated in a very noisy area, so we asked to be moved to a quieter spot. Although the staff member assisting us needed to get "permission" to reseat us (despite several open tables), they ultimately accommodated our request and moved us to a much more peaceful, private table, which we appreciated.
The food was good, though not quite as exceptional as I had hoped based on the reviews. That said, the staff was very accommodating of my gluten allergy, which I greatly appreciated.
Our server, Ian, was friendly and eager to help, though he wasn’t particularly knowledgeable about gluten-free options. To his credit, he brought over another server who was extremely helpful and well-informed.
I ordered margaritas, which were just okay—disappointingly watery, especially given the price. I’ve had far better elsewhere. Prices overall were on the higher side, which I expected, but I also anticipated a higher standard in terms of flavor and presentation.
We’d heard rave reviews about the donut bread pudding, so my husband gave it a try. Being gluten-free, I couldn’t taste it myself. He said it was good, but not outstanding—more like eating a muffin with a scoop of ice cream, a drizzle of caramel, and chopped pecans. It didn’t have the texture or richness you’d expect from a classic bread pudding, and he was surprised it didn’t come with a rum sauce. He said he wouldn’t order it again.
I had the flourless chocolate cake, which came with a scoop of ice cream. It was very good—rich, dense, and chocolatey—exactly what you’d expect from a flourless chocolate dessert. I’d definitely order it again, especially since it appeared to be the only gluten-free dessert option on the menu.
Overall, SoNapa Grille is a very nice restaurant, but the food didn’t quite live up to the hype or the price point. We’ll likely return, though with more modest expectations. Next time, we might stick to the flatbreads—I've heard great things, and they offer a gluten-free crust— and pair it with a glass of wine and maybe a dessert.
$150 for two entrées (filet medallions and chicken marsala with steamed spinach), two margaritas, and two desserts felt steep given the overall experience. Still, the ambiance and service were strong points, and I’m willing to give it another shot with a simpler order next time.

We arrived at 6:20 pm on a Wednesday in late July 2024. The restaurant seemed very slow, but that made for good attention from our server.
For an appetizer we ordered the Shark Bites — garlic knots where one of the knots is cut into the shape of a shark… sort of. They were delicious.
We ordered two pizzas.
The Shark Attack pizza was fantastic on a gluten free crust. The "large" pizza is only 14" but it was plenty big. There were no leftovers.
We'll definitely be back when we need pizza!

I’m giving this wonderful restaurant 3 stars because you don’t offer gluten free pasta. I understand that you make your own pasta, which is by far the best I’ve ever had. However I have a gluten allergy. If I were to eat your delicious home made pasta I will have bloating, gas pains and everything that goes with that for 3 days. I and my husband are local. We would come to the garlic much more than once every few months if we had the opportunity to enjoy a pasta that is not maid from wheat flour. I went into Baci's at about 12 o clock, on a Wednesday. I'm guessing they hadn't been open for long. There was only a few customers, and only about 3 employees. We sat ourselves, and soon had menus. Me and my sister are gluten free, so we ordered a gluten free pizza crust. (I added a few things to mine, and the man waiting on us didn't seem to mind). The food took about 25-35 minutes. A bit long for a pizza, but I figured that if you're adding stuff to it, and making it gluten free, it may take longer. We ordered a cesar salad, and I wasn't terribly impressed. I think the dressing had too much lemon juice. When the pizza came out, it was worth waiting for. It wasn't stodgy or extremely small, like gluten free pizzas usually are. I saved my mine leftovers, and ate it later. A little pricier than I thought, but inflation and all that, I'm not going to give them a hard time.

How much do I love this place? A lot! I have been coming here for about 21 years now and have never been let down by their food or drinks. This was the first time that I have been here and not been able to eat gluten and so I wondered if the experience would be the same. They did not let me down. Wasn’t impressed with the pizza especially for the price. The real play here is the Greek salad, but if you catch the pizza on a special deal then it gets maybe a bump in value. The service and team were great and I really appreciated their kind, fast service while I was picking up my phone order. No gluten free options for someone with celiac disease. Everyone has different preferences for pizza- this is just not my style.

Best Sandwich shop in NSB. My GF got the gluten free burger which came with a really good gluten free bun which is rare and hard to find. I got the Clayton. The pastrami was killer. We also got the fries and wow! Best fries I’ve had in a while. Simple design inside. Very friendly and accommodating staff and family owned. This place is a hidden gem and I will likely start a new addiction to their sandwiches. Do yourself a favor and give them a shot. I hear they get busy but that’s a good thing. We've eaten here about 6 times recently, and usually we've had a decent meal, good service and place was clean enough. Always a good time, great marinara sauce, nice folks. This time I got gluten free pizza and had to run to the bathroom three times before we left and knew that I probably got cross contamination from gluten. I told server I had Celiac. She saw me running,running but never acknowledged me again, even though only three tables were in the place. I thought the pizza tasted great, but it made me sick. In addition, I was surprised the place was so dirty.
I hope this is going to turn around.

Great service!! Our son has celiac and our server was well educated and informed about the GF options on the menu and service was great too! The manager came out and spoke to us about the precautions they were taking in the kitchen to accommodate his condition. Food was great too!

A must stop. You gotta get somethin ice cream aaaaaaand somethin food. Not just 1. This is the way. Izzy's is our always must stop on our way to or from the beach. Usually both. The staff are the most polite group of teens ever assembled outside of the Disney channel. (We're always in the ToGo window...they may have full adults inside...) Hard to find good gluten free food (especially fried) so the fried fish tacos are usually a standard with whatever else we're tryin that day. I've tried every taco on the list, they're all worth a retry. The ice cream is also always exceptional. My new joy of life is their affagato. Espresso, ice cream, caramel,& whip cream....tis stranger slapping good. Just give it a try, be NICE, & tip. It'll be worth it all.
