Great birthday lunch. Friendly welcome, clean and tidy, lovely decor and atmosphere. Excellent food, excellent gluten free menu. Food came with a flag on it to ensure I got the right meal.
Our server Shannon was lovely, we informed her that our two year old daughter had a gluten allergy and she was very accommodating towards that and provided amazing service throughout. We ordered some chicken but as informed by Shannon it was a bad batch so she didn’t want us eating something that she wouldn’t so recommended we ordered something different. This was amazing customer service and made our whole experience better.
I have Coeliac Disease (gluten free) and it can still be a struggle to find reliable, trustworthy restaurants who cater correctly. I had the double stack burger with a gluten free bun - my mind was blown. Alongside this the fries were crispy on the outside, but soft and fluffy on the inside. The food was delicious (melted in the mouth!) and the portion size was perfect!

Excellent gluten free food available, great choice. I had pork belly with roast vegetables and it was superb. Creme Brulee with raspberry sorbet (home made) was heaven too. Virtually everything is gluten free so coeliacs can relax and enjoy their dining experience. Highly recommended (I say that reluctantly as I'd like to keep it secret 😊 it's that good).
Had a really lovely meal with a party of 10 food was delicious. Amelia our waitress was amazing and went above and beyond. They were great with gluten free.
We would definitely return. Thank you Amelia
Came to derby to visit parents, my dad has dementia. Both parents are gluten free. It was quiet as a Friday midday. The waitress Sinitta immediately remembered my parents from being there only once before and they remembered her as said how nice she was last time. She welcomed us, sat and chatted and basically made us feel welcome. The fact she remembered my parents (in their 70’s) was so amazing! They made sure and double checked for gluten allergies which they both had and food was lovely! I don’t live in derby but I know they will be back again because they felt so looked after!
Had the set Christmas menu for eight of us, absolutely yum! Two of us were coeliac and that was no problem at all, you can feel like you are a nuisance!
Thank you to all so much, deeelicious, it was all absolutely lovely 😍 xx
Really enjoyed the attentive service, atmosphere and my gluten free, vegetarian meal plus drinks! Thank you Beth and everyone else for a lovely night after a long day at work
Really great cafe for gluten free options. I’m not 100% sure where the name came from as there really wasn’t many books? But overall the atmosphere was quirky and cosy. I ordered the bhaji sandwich on the online ordering option. There was no option to make it gluten free apart from the notes section but the waitress was happy to swap it and it came out with a GF bun, the food itself was really tasty
First time at this brilliant restaurant! I am one of those people who don't realise venture out and try new foods, but my goodness, I was so pleased I tried Zorba. Such beautiful food and wonderful service. Everyone was so friendly and so accommodating. We had one in our party who was gluten free, and she was looked after so well and had plenty of choice!
Would definitely recommend!
Me and my wife are regulars at Nando’s as my wife is ceoliac and she know they have have gluten free there and always orders the same thing. This evening we went to Nados, Intu in Derby and were seated promptly which was good.
However, when my wife went to order our food (which she had to being coeliac) the person taking orders informed his manager of my wife’s allergy to which she sighed and rolled her eyes before she took our order.
My wife said that the manager didn’t seem to be listening properly while taking our order details and managed to get my order wrong (although this was corrected before the food arrived).
However, after eating we got home and my wife has felt ill and believes she may have been glutened and hasn’t eaten anything other than the Nando’s today.
Probably the worst gluten-free pizza I’ve ever had! My husband’s standard margarita pizza wasn’t much better. Really expect better from Pizza Express. ☹️
Fantastic place! Dog friendly and lots of vegan and gluten free options! I don't personally drink coffee but my boyfriend said it was really nice. The nicest hashbrowns I have ever eaten!
Usually I would comment on just the food, but on this visit I would like to give massive praise to Eden who was waiting for the 1st time and totally smashed it there's nothing more he could of done for us he went over and over and above with a fun and friendly attitude.
Even stayed after his shift had finished to complete our journey.
Also dealt well with order of gluten free and vegetarian.
A great 40th birthday meal.
I hope to be served again soon by this lovely young man
Excellent food and service, Merrick and Jonathan were amazing, advising us on gluten free options and provided a friendly welcome service! The pies are awesome!
Beautiful restaurant, amazing service and delicious and very unique food. Also an amazing place for anyone gluten free as most of the dishes on the menu are gluten free and delicious. And had kids chicken nuggets and fries and even they were fresh and delicious! Will definitely be coming back!
Really friendly and welcoming staff. Made sure we were happy and had everything we needed.
Food was excellent - really tasty and decent portion sizes. I am coeliac and the menu was clearly marked with what was Gluten Free and the staff even made sure i was aware what dishes others in my group were GF or not.
Would happily go again!
We were a walk in group. The pub was full but Shane made an extra effort to accommodate our group and was very attentive with his service which included a gluten free member which was greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Had been for dinner with family with one of us being gluten free, the food was bit of a hit and miss. The gluten free main course was a pasta dish chosen from the set menu , the pasta was a bit undercooked and didn't really gel with the sauce in which it was cooked. I had the chicken milanese which was essentially a breaded slice of chicken with tomatoes on the side and bowl of salad with cheese , the chicken was too crispy and dry, didn't really enjoy it and wouldn't recommend . The dishes which I liked were the mushroom soup which was really good and the tiramisu dessert. We went on a Tuesday so essentially the restaurant was deserted being mid week , probably would have had a better vibe on the weekend.
My favourite café in Derby. Great menu options and baked goods, with often a little twist on the usual stock to make their stuff pop, and the staff are lovely!
- Delicious coffee.
- Proper Eastern European-style rye toast!
- Great gluten-free and vegan options
- Self-serve water refills.
- Relaxed atmosphere.
- Frozen vegan and gluten free meals.
- Diverse drink menu.
- Fair prices.
Went for lunch. Lovely atmosphere and staff.my son is gluten free and they were extremely accomadating with his order and choice. Really helpful lady who was our server. Quick service. Can't fault Cuba on any level
Excellent food for all as the vegetarian offerings are super whether you are vegetarian or not. Lovely gluten free options and cakes.
Highly recommended
I believe they have closed there restaurant and moving onto a smaller restaurant as we were told the last time we went in. I will miss the service and food. The service was amazing I have never been in an restaurant where they had top notch service always 100% never failed on the service and the food was great, my husband eats gluten free and they always reassured it'll be cooked on a different wok or pan and never cooked with the same oil with gluten etc always catered for the needs. I will wait for them to reopen somewhere and start ordering there again. It's hard to find somewhere that does actually have Gluten free food that promises you it's Gluten free. This Chinese restaurant is the best. We dined in and takeaway, the food was always made fresh.
The best restaurant in derby. So great to have a restaurant with a wide variety of healthy delicious meals. There are so many vegan and gluten-free options. We love being able to choose the size of our bowl (which means the kids can have the right size for them) and then choose from proteins, hot options, sides and the massive salad bar. We highly recommend their falafel, potato wedges and coleslaw. We will be going many more times! Service is quick and everyone’s really friendly.
I'm celiac, they always take it very seriously and you can see the staff changing gloves before handling my food. Bit expensive but worth it for the peace of mind
Really enjoyed my time there, i always do! The food was great, we got a big sharing platter which had a great selection. Some improvements could be to provide a gluten free alternative to the bread at the start of the meal, and the pina colada drink i had was very watered down, needs improving!
Will definitely come again, the man who runs the desk was very kind!
Since finding out I have a few food intolerances I haven’t been able to eat a curry without fear of the aftermath. The gentleman on the phone was fantastic in advising me of what I could have and even spoke to the chef to make sure it was possible! Food arrived promptly and was delicious! Will definitely be my go to now! The only Indian in Derby that does gluten free bread too! Thank you so much!
There is nothing you need to improve on. The staff remembered us from a previous visit and made the whole experience a pleasure.
Only thing I would like to see improvement on is a better choice of gluten free food.
Wanted to visit here for a while now especially because all I have heard are fantastic things about KAYI Mezze & Grill and everything I had heard was spot on.
The food was amazing, the staff were fantastic and the atmosphere was lovely. It was very easy to forget that you were in Mickleover and it was easy to imagine you were on holiday.
There were 4 of us dining, 2 of us are Vegetarians. The menu has Vegetarian, Nut Allergy and Gluten signs stated which was amazing (the desserts are also vegetarian we did have to ask as this wasn't labelled).
We had the Cold Starter Mezze to share, the portions were very generous between the 4 of us.
All the food was amazing and the portions were great, we were very full. We couldn't leave without trying a couple of desserts the Baklava being our favourite one. We were also given some complimentary Turkish Tea as well which was lovely!!
The only thing I would recommend is perhaps a rubber ring around the tea? The server seemed like he was really struggling with the temperature of the glass cups (no handles) and they were very hot when we touched them so I do think it would be in their best interest to adapt the cups slightly just so the server and customer are comfortable.
Some of the staff were very young like other reviews have stated so when we asked certain questions they weren't sure but they always went and asked another member of staff which we thought was great, it is a learning curve at the end of the day and we appreciated them asking instead of just guessing.
Toilets were clean as well (my Mum said they were very stylish too!)
Very enjoyable and would 100% go back. It's a great asset to Mickleover and Derby. It's about time we got something different, tasty and enjoyable in the village.
Food was lovely, they offer gluten free. Was served by Alex who’s a lovely bubbly character who made sure all our needs and asked were met. Lovely thank you
