This place is amazing for celiac or gluten allergy. They have gluten-free vegan batter that is cooked in a separate area. I had the Pizza crepe ans the honey bunny both amazingly delicious. The owner was very nice and helpful. Definitely coming back!
Extremely knowledgeable servers and chefs! Delicious food and extensive wine list. Door (not sure how this should be spelled) and Miss Jackie made sure my meal was Celiac-safe. Such a pleasure eating somewhere they honestly care about serving a Celiac patron safely. Highly recommend.
My 7 year old daughter is a celiac. She had the glutenfree waffles and fried chicken. She really enjoyed the waffles but the chicken was a little bit to spicy for her.
I had the glutenfree seafood Po boy and it was really delicious.
Another day we tried the glutenfree version of a Beignet a Calas. It was not really like the „real“ Beignets but it was a good an nice option to have something sweet for her.
This was our favorite restaurant that we tried while visiting New Orleans! Everything was amazing from the presentation to the variety to the food quality. Norma was patient with us while we decided what we wanted to order and she answered our questions. It’s great that everything was gluten-free!
The food was awesome! And Henry is the man! His recommendations were the selections that I went with and he took care of me with regard to my gluten allergy. I went with the red fish and it was so good. It was the perfect end to my 60th birthday celebration in the Big Easy.
Jess and Eric were absolutely fantastic! Their service was top-notch from start to finish. My wife has Celiac disease, and they were both incredibly knowledgeable and attentive when helping her find safe and delicious options. We truly appreciated their care and attention to detail. Thank you for making our experience so enjoyable!
You’d likely never know this adorable, plant-filled space on a block bearing a street name no one knows (that feels more like an alley) could be the best thing to happen to your week. Located directly across from one of the two U.S. Court of Appeals loading docks, this oasis quickly transports the diner to a country they may have never visited and may now want to visit immediately.
This isn’t that “Mexican” place you have in your hometown that mostly serves to pacify the American palate. That isn’t to say it will feel unfamiliar or awkward; you may just realize excessive grease and cheese aren’t required for enjoyment of every item.
With the exception of tortas (sandwiches) and a couple of desserts, everything is gluten-free. Not just in the “no-gluten-containing-ingredients” way you may find many places, but instead it’s an environment where staff are trained on cross-contamination (and where they have a dedicated frier). There are also numerous vegetarian and vegan options.
Happy hour is 3-6 weekdays, and you’ll definitely leave happier. Then again, that’s kinda guaranteed anytime you visit.
Do yourself a flavor 😉 and walk right on over from the streetcar or even the French Quarter. Should you take the ferry over here from Algiers? Well, I sure won’t discourage it!
Come hungry, thirsty, and ready for your life (or at least taste buds) to be improved.
This was my first time visiting this establishment, and I have to say my experience was absolutely incredible from start to finish. The service was warm and attentive, and the food? Simply amazing. Every dish had such bold, unique flavors, and I really appreciated the wide variety of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options on the menu.
I ordered the Crab Scramble with vegan eggs, which was packed with flavor. I also got a side of the bison sausage it was my first time trying bison. While I personally prefer chicken or seafood over red meat, the sausage was still well-seasoned and tasty, with subtle notes of onion and bell pepper (not sure if that was intentional, but it worked!).
My mom ordered the Shrimp and Grits, and I got to try a bite and wow. It was a flavor explosion. I've never tasted anything quite like it before rich, savory, and perfectly balanced.
We all shared the Bananas Foster Pancakes, which were sweet but not overpowering, with a unique flavor that really stood out. I also tried their Iced Matcha Latte delicious and classic in taste. If you're looking for a traditional, less-sweet matcha, this is the one for you.
My cousin ordered the Cat Daddy Biscuit, and once again great flavors, perfectly cooked, and the sauce was on point. My aunt went with the Bearcat Breakfast, a more traditional option, but she swapped in the bison sausage, and it paired beautifully with the eggs and potatoes.
The only downside? Parking can be a bit tricky, and there might be a wait ours was about an hour. But trust me, it’s absolutely worth it.
Next time I'm in New Orleans, I’ll be back without a doubt!
First, the good: the food here is pretty excellent, at least for the entrées and appetizers that we ate. I would say that the entrées were the star of the show, and the appetizers we had were very good to good. The cocktails we had were average, there are plenty of other restaurants that have a better cocktail program based on what we had. The wine appears to be an excellent list, however, we only had one glass of wine.
Second, the bad: unfortunately, the service situation detracted from our dining experience. Putting aside minor details like watching other tables seated after us receive their complementary bread before us and slight delays and taking our order, a bigger issue involves one of our parties request to not have any gluten in their food being treated way too casually. After it was asked and confirmed whether a certain dish did not have gluten in it, one member of our party ordered that dish. After it was served and in the middle of eating it, a member of the staff came up to clarify whether that party member had a gluten allergy or just a gluten intolerance. The member of our party only had a gluten intolerance, as it makes them somewhat ill for 24 hours after they have gluten. After confirming the nature of the intolerance, the staff member said nothing and walked away. Our server then returned and asked us if the other staff member had explained the issue about the dish, and we responded that he had not. The server then explained that the dish did have a component with gluten in it, after the dish I’ve been mostly eaten. The server then said that the dish would be comped on our bill, which it was not.
In this day and age, a restaurant should take gluten allergies much more seriously. Their menu is totally silent on what dishes are gluten-free, so you have to ask. And when we did ask, we were given false information. Had the member of our party suffer from celiac, would’ve been a much more serious situation as opposed to a brief illness.
Please keep this in mind when you choose to dine at this restaurant, as their staff does not appear to be trained to take the issue of gluten intolerance seriously. For example, at other restaurants in the city, the staff would make on the fly corrections to the menu to indicate what dishes were gluten-free , which I believe is now the standard for upscale dining.
One of the few restaurants I've ever been to where I had a drink waiter separate from the waitress, but was also chill with me wearing shorts and a graphic tee. They ask about and seem very attentive to dietary restrictions, so if vegetarian or gluten free or your thing they will work with you. I appreciated the hanging art separating the tables around the periphery of the restaurant as well as the general vibe.
I ended up ordering a couple of cocktails and the Ramos Gin Fizz was like drinking a slice of lemon meringue pie; 10/10 if you're into meringue. That was followed up with a honeysuckle liqueur drink melding blackberries and basil (honey child) that was good, but didn't come close to touching the Gin fizz.
I ordered the fixed price 3-course meal with turtle soup and sherry followed by the best shrimp and grits I've ever had in my life and capped off with the best bread pudding I've ever had as well. Thanks to the waitress for pushing me toward the bread pudding: The toasted pecans and caramel really sent it over the edge and made it an especially sumptuous dish.
Another gin fizz in a to go cup (because French quarter, why not?) and I was off to the next stop!

We sat out in the air conditioned front section and Christy took great care of us! We were looking for some yummy gluten free options and Sophia’s pizza was really great. Next time we will try the gf pastas. Christy was awesome and the kale salad was my favorite - definitely try the kale salad.
I was hoping for a good meal away from the French Quarter, but we got so much more. The entrees were SOOO good, they truly took us by surprise. I’ll remember the chicken and the shrimp dishes for a while.
I rarely order dessert, but after an entree that good, I needed to see what dessert offered. The Salted Peanut Pie was delicious. Only thing of mention was about the lack of gluten free dessert options - typical ice cream and sorbet offering.
I ordered the Vegan Lover Pizza, which I’ve gotten several times before, only to have a different employee tell me that it’s not actually vegan unless you order it with the gluten-free crust??? Wildly misleading! Apparently, the regular crust has butter in it. I am so thankful that other employee let me know.
Sad and deceived.
We had a great time dining in for a company dinner. The service was fast and our server, Sirius, was an excellent host. He was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. I forgot to take pictures but the food was delicious! And the cornbread was probably my favorite thing I ate. My co-worker is also gluten free and was able to enjoy a lot of food and even the charbroiled oysters! Would recommend!
We went here specifically for gluten free food. The owner was there and super friendly. We ordered gluten free fried green tomatoes, shrimp, crayfish, catfish, pickles, and fries. The coating/breading was light and airy.
We were the only ones in the restaurant. It was a little awkward, quiet, and dark.
I am gluten free but the others with me were not. The charbroiled and raw oysters are amazing! And they're gluten-free except you have to ask for bread on the side. I probably did not order the right thing, but I had the grillled shrimp which were meh and the fries that were nice. for gluten full people, the beignets were a hit and also the gumbo and bisque
There aren’t many gluten free options. It’s kinda our fault since we thought a seafood restaurant would have more fish options that weren’t shellfish.
The service was great and welcoming.
It was really really loud inside though there were few people dining at the time.
It was $20 for a standard burger with a bag of chips. I kinda think that it was overpriced.
We wanted Fabulous local food and Sylvain’s did not disappoint! We had the Pappardelle Bolognese and Striped Bass which were both delicious, we also had the Fried Cauliflower which was a wonderful surprise!! Our server Chris was knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly. They were able to accommodate my gluten free restrictions, including dessert…a coconut crème brûlée! The ambiance was intimate and beautiful, we loved everything about this restaurant and highly recommend it!
Outstanding GLUTEN-FREE fried chicken and salt and vinegar string fries. We sat ourselves in the semi-enclosed private room on the second floor, which was comfortable, allowed us to hear the live music and talk comfortably with one another. The cocktails were delightful and interesting!
I love getting the chicken avocado wrap! I have a little day date with my dog here on their outside seating often. I love that they offer gluten free and vegan options on their menu so I can bring my friends too

The gluten free menu was great and had plenty of options. I had seen there used to be gluten free gumbo however there isn’t anymore. I had jumbalaya instead which was okay, but slightly bland. It’s also quite noisy inside and the AC was on high so it was cold.
I think the outside patio looked lovely and would recommend sitting out there.
Otherwise service was fine and lots of good food options.
Excellent food, the fish and grits was perfect and the maduros really elevated the dish. Finding a place down here with a nearly fully gluten free menu can be tricky, but Besame's careful menu planning makes it so your celiac friends don't have to choose between deliciousness and safety.
Great restaurant with authentic food and amazing service! Could accommodate my gluten allergy which I sincerely appreciate :-). Steak frites and eggs are fire 🔥
Run to this restaurant. The dishes are so delicious with lots of flavor and balance spices. Prince is very patient to explain the recipes, the used ingredient and the history of this Ethiopian cuisine. In addition 99,99% of the dishes are gluten free.
Went on a Saturday so it was crowded but they found two seats together for us. The Southern BLT was delicious, especially the fried greens tomatoes. Wish the gluten-free items were posted more clearly on the printed menu.
What a beautiful, delicious, cozy experience. The shrimp and grits were phenomenal, and they have gluten free options noted on the menu! The staff was kind and welcoming and gave us space but served us well. We we will definitely be back!
It was a busy morning and they said they couldn’t really handle the volume of people so cross contamination was difficult. I had the frittata (I knew I shouldn’t have) and got absolutely smacked by gluten. I’m sure this place is safe for gluten intolerances or allergies, I’d be cautious with celiac.
waiter was phenomenal with dietary restrictions and went above & beyond to make my partner and i feel welcome! (dairy free and gluten free). we had the jambalaya (GF, DF) (4/5) and the rice and beans (GF) (4/5) and the flight lemonade drinks (2.5/5). the potato salad and the appetizer sausage was SOOO delicious. overall awesome atmosphere, people & food. worth the long line outside ! (and super affordable)

We waited 40mn for a table for a late dinner. The person at the reception wasnt the friendliest but we were hungry. BIG SHOUT-OUT to Paul on the merch side to be kind enough to talk to us while we waited! We finally got a table and ended up waiting 15/20 mn to get a server. Wasnt too thrilled about that. Server was nice and informative on food allergies though. They have a gluten free menu available, but the seasoned fries weren't gluten free, needs updated. We got a burger and a pulled pork sandwich with green beans sub for fries. Overall wasnt impressed with the food specially for the price. Manager came to check on us and we ended up talking about music and tattoos! Memorabilia was interesting on the walls.
Been coming to Nola for Mardi Gras for the past three years running, and never miss a chance to eat at Another Broken Egg. Food is great, awesome gluten-friendly selection for us gluten-sensitive folk! Ask for Jenny!!
I was super excited to come as you hear and read so much history about this place. It was everything I was told and imagined. The first thing you see and feel when walking in is the history this place has. All the staff was exceptional and on point! And the food, the foor was fantastic. Our table had the fried chicken, which was finger lickin excellence. For one order they were able to make it gluten free for my mom!! The Stewed chicken was absolutely delicious! And the same for the Shrimp Clemenceau. This place is a must come and repeat!!
We chose Theo's because they offer a gluten free crust. The crust was good but it was the sauce that made the pizza so dang good! Also, the chef noticed a mistake before our pizza came out so he had the kitchen fix it and he offered us a beer while we waited. Friendly staff and yummu eats!
