Updated Review for Tuckerâs â Nashua, NH
Iâve always appreciated Tuckerâs for their atmosphere, service, and commitment to fresh food. I had initially written a completely positive review because Iâve had good experiences in the past. However, I feel obligated to update my review to reflect a recent visit where I left feeling disappointed and, honestly, hurt.
As someone with severe, medically documented food allergiesâincluding life-threatening onesâI always take great care when ordering. On this visit, I clearly explained my allergies and requested my meal to be made as safely as possible, even offering suggestions such as using a separate pan or dish.
Unfortunately, the manager came to my table and explained they could not accommodate me due to cross-contamination concerns, and that they could not take anyone off the line to prepare something separately. I was told this decision came from upper management, and that special arrangements could not be made for someone like myself.
That phrasing alone made me feel differentâas if my needs were a burden. I didnât come in demanding anything unreasonable. I came in with humility, understanding the limitations of a kitchen, but hoping to be met with some flexibility and care.
At one point, I was told that all they could offer me was lettuce. I replied honestly: âIâm not a rabbitâI need protein.â Eventually, after mentioning that I often write reviews, I was approached again and offered a poached egg on gluten-free toast with mashed avocado and pickled onions. While I appreciated the gesture and the repeated apologies, it didnât undo the sting of being made to feel like my health concerns were an inconvenience.
This experience reminded me how difficult dining out can be for those with serious allergies. I donât want special treatmentâI want basic compassion and safety. That day, I didnât feel either until I pushed.
Iâm not writing this out of anger. Iâm writing this out of truth. My original review was glowing, but full transparency matters. I hope this helps raise awareness and encourages more thoughtful, inclusive practices in the future.
We went for the first time last night and were not disappointed. When we got there, there wasnât a lot going on, but the place was filling up when we were leaving. Our server Julie was amazing! My husband got the pulled pork mac & cheese and loved it. I got the rooster off of the gluten friendly menu and was very pleased, even the bun was good (which says a lot for gluten free). Would definitely recommend giving it a try!
Wonderful service....pasta bolognais was on point , very good... spaghetti cooked perfectly....wife had veal Parm...loved it...she had gluten free penne which was cooked well....price was good and lunch size was plentiful...will return there....
We went to Buckley's for a Sunday night dinner and had fantastic meals. Buckley's offers gluten free items on their menu that are marked, and the servers are very helpful with determining which items you can eat. I eat gluten free and dairy free, so this was a bit of a challenge for Buckley's. I ordered some jumbo shrimp, a rib eye steak, asparagus and a baked potato. There were other sides I wish I could have tried, but they contain dairy. However, everything was delicious and cooked perfectly, especially the steak. My wife ordered the buttermilk chicken, and my friend ordered the beef stroganoff, and they absolutely loved their meals. The only thing I wish that would have made things better, for me at least, was if they had gluten free bread and more gluten free / dairy free desserts. Everyone has sorbet! Restaurants can do better in my opinion, especially when you are walking distance to a bakery that offers allergy free treats.
Mary works hard to make this Qdoda location (Merrimack outlets) a great place to eat, good and healthy food, polite and helpful staff. I have been eating lunch here for several years. It one of my favorite lunch and sometimes diner places to eat with easy choices for gluten-free. Thank you Mary!
Owners posted some completely false statements about "Gluten Free" options at Los Primos and then proceeded to block me when I criticized their lack of allergen awareness/cross contamination/food safety.
So here's your review.
No, this place is NOT Gluten friendly, and ranks extremely low in that regard even when compared to their competitors. If you're celiac or gluten sensitive, seek other options for your own safety.
Even if you're not dealing with food sensitivities, I'd avoid this place like the plague. It's beyond mediocre, and you can find better food in Amherst or Nashua. Not only that, but a quick look at their Trip Advisor page indicates they "occasionally" seem to overcharge customers.
Yikes.
My family and I have been to this restaurant numerous times in the past. We are regular customers who came repeatedly in the past as they catered to food allergies. However, after today we will never set foot in this place again. We placed our order and received our appetizers. One hour elapsed and others who came after us were finishing their dinners and we still hadnât eaten. The young woman who was our waitress was no where to be found. Another waiter Josh who is great whom we knew kindly offered to follow up for us. When still no food came we flagged down our waitress who said âitâs coming.â And then walked away. Frustrated I approached two women at the front and said I need to speak to the manager. I had made eye contact with one of the two women and the older woman said âLook at me I am he manager not her she is just a 16 year old girl.â Extremely rude. Then she said what number station are you? As if I would know that. She followed me to the table. Then came back and started to lecture us on how itâs gluten free so it takes a half an hour or longer to prep. We called her out on this blatant lie and said we eat here multiple times a month and our waiters Nate and Josh always put our orders in and our allergen free food arrives correct and in a timely manner every time. The manager was nasty and condescending and continued to argue with us. I told her what she was saying was a lie, a crock. Then the food came out- thanks only to Josh who had checked on it and asked for it to be made. The food when it came was inedible chicken wet and tasteless, asparagus boiled so hard it was shriveled and bitter and my gf pasta was boiled with no taste no oil or garlic as ordered. We expressed our displeasure to our waitress who ignored us. On our way out the manager ignored us and refused to make eye contact. Terrible customer service and management. The manager had zero people skills. We are not the kind of people who complain typically in a restaurant but we had no choice in this instance. Our check came out and it was a bitter pill to swallow paying $120 for vile food and being verbally abused by the manager. This is not an inexpensive restaurant and this type of treatment and food quality are inexcusable. There are plenty of other better options in the neighborhood, do yourself a favor and drive past this place.
The best tasting Mexican food I've ever had (and definitely in the Manchester area) and good at accommodating gluten free. The service was weirdly perfunctory by the server and the mosquitoes were a nightmare. We would not eat indoors as the music was loud and not conducive to relaxation nor conversation. Recommended because of the food, so long as you sit outside and use bug spray liberally, and tolerate the poor service.
Thoroughly enjoyed our pizzas! Ordered a gluten-free meat lovers for one person in our group, he said it was the best GF Pizza he's ever had! He's GF for medical reasons, not just by choice. đâ
Great food and THE best margaritas in the area.
This is another one of our longtime favorite restaurants that I canât BELIEVE I have reviewed yet. Tortilla Flat has been open for 50 years (as of 2024) and weâve been going there and enjoying it for at least 30 of those.
Not the most authentic Mexican food, for sure, but rather âNew Englandâ Mexican⌠that is extremely tasty nonetheless. The margaritas really are exceptional. The prices are good. And the service is always, always, very pleasant.
They cheerfully accommodate requests for gluten free and dairy free substitutes.
Highly recommended.
