As someone who is gluten and dairy free, it’s hard to find a restaurant where I can order anything I want. We came in @ about 3:30pm on a weekday, when it was less busy and were greeted by one of the owners, Caroline. She gave us a tour of the garden on the patio and recommended the eggplant hero which was a daily special made with fresh eggplant from the garden! It is so yummy!!! 10/10 would recommend. The family friendly community oriented vibe @ the eatery is so welcoming too. It’s totally worth it to come in and enjoy the dine-in experience to meet the friendly owners, staff, and to check out the hip decor <3

They have a big focus on high quality ingredients. Best chicken tortilla soup in NYC! And of course chips and salsa. They hand make their own gluten free chips. My favorite main is salmon fajitas. It’s not on the menu, but they make it on request.

One of my favorite restaurants ever- almost the whole menu is GF: order the duck carnitas, the steak, and the margaritas. Favorite dessert: corn husk meringue

My girlfriend and I love coming to Carmelita’s! They have amazing gluten free dishes, and we love the queso and salsa. Food always tastes so fresh and you genuinely can’t choose wrong on the menu. The servers are always so kind and the place feels efficiently run! We’re excited to try the brunch soon.

Ordered the King Arepa which was delicious and incredibly filling. I do wish it came with a side of hot sauce but I know that's just my spicy preference. Very quick and friendly service. Always happy to see places offering a multitude of naturally gluten-free options. I hope someday they can make the plantain sandwiches (I forget the name) gluten-free too, as it was stated it isn't currently because of the oil it is fried in. The guava juice was also delicious and was a big size. Will definitely be back to try other options.
