Extraordinarily rude - we came in excited to get some gluten free breakfast and the cashier told us to leave, or get outside and come back in when we knew what we wanted and order - difficult if you’ve never been there before…
There were open tables, but she told us to leave and come back when they were less busy - no wait list, no queue, no way to be called back.
A bit confusing - I guess they were overstretched or maybe they just didn’t want to serve us because we weren’t regulars? Confusing - maybe steer clear unless you’re into abuse.
We were planning oysters and thinking lobster . We came across The Cannery - I rang and asked if lobsters were done gluten free . You can tell sometimes when people think you are strange this was one of this times. The lady said of course and hung up . So we ventured in and had some lobster .
Service is not table you go to the counter they are busy and seem to brush you aside .
We had our wedding reception here following the ceremony in the Conservatory. The staff at The Succulent were fantastic on the day and we very much appreciated the ability to cater to so many dietary requirements. Our guests ranged from vegans, gluten free, vegetarians to people who love meat and all were so happy with the buffet package we selected. The menu items in the buffet package were adapted to suit the needs of our guests and items were all clearly labelled.
Setting up the room was a breeze, and only took us an hour the day before our wedding.
Ginny went out of her way to meet with us to discuss what we wanted our reception to be like.
Thanks to everyone at The Succulent for making our wedding so memorable, enjoyable and stress free.
Wine tasting paddle was excellent, showcasing a variety of delicious local wines. Paired well with charcuterie board (gluten free option!) and water views.

We were fortunate to get a Monday 1.30 late lunch booking and whilst the restaurant was buzzing the service was great, even for the coeliacs. Highlights from the tasting menu were; crispy cauliflower, fish and the venison.
I have been to Rhyme Street Café FOUR TIMES as my family lives close by. Each time I have ordered a gluten free breakfast and no joke, 4 times they have brought me a gluten breakfast. The first time I ordered an omelette with gluten free bread, there was sourdough toast on it. They then went to take the toast off and give it back to me, I explained I am coeliac and can’t have cross contamination like that. They had to make another omelette. The second time was gluten free Scrambled eggs with avocado, no toast. It again came with sourdough bread. Third time was another omelette, EXACTLY the same thing happened as the first time. My partner wanted to try them one last time, so I complied. I ordered a gluten free omelette again, SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN!! Stupid of us to go back again, but they are in a convenient location. Every time, I ensured the lady at the counter wrote gluten free. There were no apologies, not once. We won’t be going here again and I would definitely NOT recommend this place to other people who have to be on a gluten free diet. There is a café across the road that is entirely gluten free called “meal machines café”, we didn’t know about them until after we ate here but they are fantastic, go there instead!!
