Incredibly well-managed and very good service at a locally-owned restaurant that truly knows their stuff with keto, coeliac-safe, low FODMAP and other nutritional needs. In two years of living locally and eating here monthly or at least quarterly, we’ve never had a problem with an order nor a bad experience.
One of my go-to cafes with my partner – we’ve been here so many times and it never disappoints!
The gluten-free bagel is absolutely delicious – great texture and flavour.
But the highlight has to be the waffle fried chicken with honey sriracha syrup… sweet, spicy, crispy – just perfect.
Everything looks as good as it tastes – definitely a great spot if you love taking food pics 📸
friendly service, and tasty food every time. Highly recommended!
Excellent food and drinks. Nice vibe. Very friendly staff. Food is very healthy, all freshly made and so yummie. They are vegetarian but lots of their dishes are vegan or can be made vegan. As far as I saw there are also many glutenfree options. I hope I can visit again sometime.
Ok I’ve passed this place 1,000s of times but have never eaten here. Man I’ve been sleeping because it’s sooo delicious.
I ordered the fried chicken poke bowl that was already gluten free, because I cannot pass up on gluten free fried chicken. UGH this was delicious. The sweet sauce they had on it, the half avo, the generous ginger, the chicken was crunchy. Could’ve had more rice, but overall, so delicious.
We sat outside in the sun which was lovely, and sheltered from the wind. My daughter enjoyed the little playground down below. We also ordered fries on the side that were crunchy and delicious.
Cabinet food also looked good - mainly sweet stuff and a lovely Carmel gluten free slice. But I was too full to order it.
Would come again 10/10.
Had dinner last night at El Greco and we absolutely loved the experience. From the warm and friendly staff, to the comfortable outdoor seating, to the amazing food, everything was exceptional.
We had a quiet dog and this was fine. Flat surfaces, so ok for wheelchairs too. Our fried has celiacs and this also was not a problem.
I loved the Italian lagers (it was great to have another option, rather than just Peroni). The 7 ⭐️ Metaxa was similar to a Cognac, full of flavours and a great way to finish the night over dessert. Nice wine selections too.
Really enjoyed all the food - souvlaki, squid, pasta. Lots of generous amounts of salad.
My only feedback would be to only use vegetables that are in season. Brussel sprouts are not in season now, which means they’re probably cooked from frozen and we found them mushy.
Apart from that we loved everything about dining here and would highly recommend it to others.
Graci!
I was a bit stressed having to get some good take away gluten free food for my son in law.
They were so busy and I went to walk out.
I was encouraged to check the second menue and to do an order it would be like a 10 minute wait. Great service.
I was also given a glass of water.
Back to day for the same but 2 of them.
Lovely and attentive staff. Really obliging with gluten free options and bringing me a little plate of limes when they saw me eating the limes out of other people’s glasses 😅
Stopped in for morning tea and it was absolutely delicious! My mum and Nana enjoyed the gluten free muffins and I have found a place that does the most tasty delectable vegan cookies from Vegan Treatory. Will definitely come back again!!!
Had a lovely dining experience here recently - made extra special by the care and amazing service from our waitress, Lina. Thanks Lina!
I’m coeliac, so I ordered a gluten free vege burger and fries (which are fried in a separate gluten free fryer). Big thanks to the team for taking the extra precautions to ensure it was safe for me to eat at Butger Burger Takapuna. I’ll be back!
Superstar service that was quick and attentive. Kai was delicious and catered well for children and dairy/gluten free person with us.
We took a chance and turned up without a booking and got a table immediately but would still highly recommend booking ahead as it can be very busy.
Look forward to going back and including a tour at the same time.
They have gluten free bread so there are several of breakfast options available with toast. Each cup of coffee comes with a little bit of cake and they even brought me a tiny bit of gf cake with my coffee! Such a nice touch. Staff were so friendly. Would love to come back!
We came to Fika for a spur of the moment brunch and I am so glad we did. The food, staff, and atmosphere were brilliant even on a rainy day. Lots of gluten free and dietary options. The French bread was delicious and the coffee was one of the best I have had from a cafe in a while. Best to make a reservation - we got lucky and got a free table but it was packed the entire time
We went for an early coffee. We'd have eaten, but there was nothing gluten-free available. No worries, they don't market themselves as GF.
The coffee was superb, and the little fellow's hot chocolate was enjoyed.
As we were leaving, we noticed the Dog's Menu!
Super impressed!
Next time I'll bring my princess too!
Wonderful food - especially the Tapas, and so happy they catered for my gluten free options with a menu showing GF. So friendly staff, and perfect before a show
Despite the gluten free menu shown on their website, it is now out of date and very few options are gluten free (pink menu pictured is what's actually there, not what's on website). Visited April 12 2025 and several food options on menu just not available.
Staff are trying hard but just nowhere near enough of them to cope.
Chicken was burnt on outside, pink on the inside and dangerous to eat - the staff refunded the meal without fuss but I recommend you cut into your chicken and check before eating.
No glasses or water jugs available (insufficient dish staff, I suspect) so we made do with what looked like jam jars to drink from.
Absolutely bloody delicious. Staff were so helpful and friendly. Two coeliacs who had the best GF burger ever, and didn't get ill. Thanks guys, we will definitely be back....
We visited Browns Bay Brewing Co. last Friday to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and it was fantastic! Recommended by a friend who dines here often, the location is perfect—right by Browns Bay Beach with a lovely indoor/outdoor flow. The food was incredible, especially the tender chicken wings and the famous ribs, which lived up to the hype. The quality of the ingredients was top-notch, and the menu had great options, including plenty for those with gluten allergies.
The service was friendly, fast, and attentive, with staff making sure we were taken care of throughout the evening. Plus, the craft beer selection was fantastic. A lively atmosphere, quick service, and delicious food made for a memorable night. Highly recommend!
It's a bit chilly otherwise good. I adore there Gluten Free chocolate cake and they endevour to get it to the customers as quick as possible. Over all very good and Allergy friendly with the food they make.
The food was excellent, the coffee and service quite disappointing though- I was after a gluten free breakfast option ( from the counter)- the person serving me didn't even crack a smile, looked exasperated when I took my time as they have written all the menu on glass which makes it hard to match the writing to the product. She rattled off the gluten free options and when I asked her if any of them were savoury- she said no none ! I ordered a sweet option only to see two savoury optinos while I was waiting which was annoying. Highly recommend the food but maybe have a chat with the staff on customer service.
OK I need to start with the positive. The venue was clean and welcoming and seats were available on a Saturday morning at 11am. The wait staff were super attentive and helpful. The reason I say it's only OK, is that as a person whom is food intolerant there were no easily visible options on the menu ie Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten or Dairy Free. Sorry guys I did expect the suburb of Devonport to be a bit more on to it. Having said that they altered my choosen meal to adapt, but Eggs Benedict is not the same without the sauce!!
The first thing we noticed was the wonderful aroma of good food. Secondly that the diners looked and sounded happy.
We had Great service. A comprehensive menu. I had the veal scallopine. Tender veal in a flavorsome sauce with mushrooms, spinach and mozzarella. It came with new potatoes, carrots, beans and broccoli. It was delicious and I took my time to savour the tastes and textures.
My partner had chicken cacciatore. This was delicious. The tomato sauce was smooth. It came with vegetables, too. Both these dishes were gluten free. For dessert we had the icecream ' drowned' in the liquor of choice. Fabulously simple and indulgent way to end our meal.
Staff was knowlegable and helpful. They were not intrusive and were efficient. Wonderful evening. It is popular and I would recommend booking.
I purchased a gluten-free blueberry chocolate muffin today. The muffin was moist and tasted healthy as they mixed almond flour or something in the ingredients. The barista guy who looks like a manager was very friendly and helpful, and I'd go back next time!
Good coffee, excellent hot chocolate. I've had several things on the menu now and it's all been delicious and the service is a consistently high standard. The gluten free brownie is a bit of a mission but is goooood.
